When was the last time we dominated from start to finish like that? I'm thinking Leicester last year but I don't even think that was as convincing.

4-0 hides our problems! We did well to get a relatively early goal and Lukaku has shown with his goals that maybe some of these tighter games will open up, as he is such a beast in attack.

The problem is our creativity against a tightly defended team is still sadly lacking. We will always get goals when a team is forced to attack us, but the biggest problem is getting that first goal or 2.

First half we struggled to have a quality impact. Second half was the result of West Ham having no choice, but to attack.

Overall positive and great for momentum and the fear factor for other teams, but we still need a creative killer edge.

Lovely start. Not going to get too carried away but can't ask much more than that today.

Deja vu.
That felt like Ronaldo, Rooney, post world cup season. Can't remember because it was a long time ago.

Best opening day result in a long while.

And we're already +2 points up on last season.

Matic will be the signing of the season.

Matic is a goddamn beast! Held his own against the mighty RM and looked like he had been playing at OT for 10 years with that performance.

Matic was again majestic. One of Pogba's best performances. Rashford, will still somewhat naive in finishing - full of energy and creativity. Lukaku doing exactly was he was bought to do. Martial - giving Mourinho a pain in the ass and really emphasising the thread about the conundrum between himself and Rashford. The backs always comfortable and never put under pressure.

Slick on the ball, full of creativity and energy and heaps of options off the bench. All in all, could not have asked for better. Will have sterner tests throughout the season but I'm delighted!

I complained during the match, but after we scored 4, how can anybody complain?
I think WHU's problem was that they didn't park the bus.
What they should've done is park the bus and aimed for 0-0 or 1-1. Instead, they tried to play a very balanced game and that cost them.

That felt bloody good. A great performance. Nobody had a bad game. And it was good that those players scored. Lukaku has huge expectations on him, and he's already showing why he's at United. People are saying that Pogba needs to score more, well there's one under his belt already. And Martial badly needed that goal. He's been good in pre-season but to get a goal in the opening game of the season will be a huge relief and hopefully fire a rocket under his arse. Just needs to be given more time by Mourinho, but that kind of sub performance is what impresses the manager.

What a fecking start! Been a while since we were this dominant and filled with confidence. Lovely stuff, every player did great. Matic is absolute ace, man of the match.

Top of the league and long may it continue!

Delighted with today. Matic was superb and ran the whole midfield throughout. Jones was flawless - really calm and composed and totally on it, great to see. So was Bailly. I'm not going to read too much into our attack today - we naturally got better as West Ham lost belief - but great to see some goals and good finishing. Happy to see Martial on the pitch and doing well too - it's all there for the taking if he can find his feet.

Very promising, but West Ham didn't really offer much.

Everything we lacked last year was there from the two signings. Perfect start.

Promising start. Three or four games like that in the first month or so and I'll definitely be feeling the title challenge.

Matic was the big story. West Ham were pretty crap but even if they had been better, Matic was depressing from their point of view. He was everything - a destroyer, calm and collected and even a few tricks to boot. MOTM for me.

Big Rom did the business. Nothing to see here really. He'll score loads against crap sides.

Good games from Pogba, Rashford, Mata, Blind and Miki. The rest had nothing to do really.

Good viewing and it's nice to be top of the league.
