I also wonder if the situation Leicester find themselves in with Adrien is anything to do with the way Sporting have handled the transfer.

Yep him and the savaia guy. It felt crass and unprofessional the way they spoke.
He is there to protect the interests of our club, not West Ham, and how professional are West Ham owners showing emails related with offers, curiously enough hidding the names to where they sent the emails?

Having said all that I would like this to be out of the agenda because I simply do not care if West Ham owners made a bid or not, he is not their player and it is time to move on.

Only thing I feel sorry related to the tranfer window is the 14 second registration of Adrien Silva, the rest if you ask portuguese posters about our management our fans overall are happy, probably Benfica posters will tell you they hate him and all that, nothing new, time to move on imo.

I think I've heard you make the 'protecting the club's interests' line before. I'm not trying to paint your team in a bad light - just curious about your senior management as ive seen negative things in the past.

Why would he they make underhand remarks like that?

Don't remember that sorry. :D

If by negative you mean the case related with Marco Rojo and Doyen it might be controversial, but even knowing we had to pay the 75% value of the fee to them, I am glad we went to court with them and finished our relation with them, because before he arrived there, they were involved in almost transfers activities on the club and they were just financial parasites.
Why would he they make underhand remarks like that?
Well, maybe in England you are not used to this, but here to survive sometimes you need to use hard language, but from what I know those controversial statements about West Ham owners where made on Sporting TV when he was answering a question related to the so called offer West Ham says they made.
I've heard in the past how they have tried to manipulate young players with poor contracts
I don't know where you listened to that, but as far as I am concerned I am glad that he protects our interests, because the times when players coming from our youth teams leave our club because they have a 5 million release clause like Dier to Spurs are over, if that is manipulation to you, I say club interests first.

I can explain the sporting management from a point of view of a portuguese that is not a fan of sporting and not even a fan of the one of the top 3 clubs in portugal.

You will find it harsh my comparision but this is the truth, the real truth.

Bruno de Carvalho = Hitler
Saraiva = Goebbels.

The strategy is exactly the same has the nazis. Sporting it's a club that's beeing attacked from all the fronts and even from inside. This is the perspective of the managment. Even yesterday or two days ago, Bruno de Carvalho, the chairman said something like "the sporting fans that criticize me they are stupid or benfica fans"

On a 3 hour interview to sporting tv he was even capable of saying/blackmail William with a phrase in the likes of "He should be thankfull for his career because it was all because of me, not the coach ( Leonardo Jardim) but me.

He is also so fair and professional that he left is wife to start banging a sporting worker and even re activated a marketing section to put her has boss of that section.

Propaganda is really high on the sporting side. Fans dont talk against the chairman. He even got 90% of the votes on the last run.

Just a quick edit. football in portugal is rotten and decaying. It will die. don't try to know more about this corpse called Liga Nos

I'll have a closer read on the Dier incident, I think that's what I'm referring to. I think he said some pretty spiteful things about Dier - something Dier himself commented on, as being offensive since he'd been at the club for a long time. The article went on to say youth players contracts were stacked against the players.

Also reading about the Marco Silva incident - sacked for not wearing a club blazer and contracted out of signing for benfica.

The doyen issue, he basically reneged on a contract with them.

I can see he's trying to protect your interests, but he seems to enjoy treading on people.

And I say you are just making propaganda, better talk about your President and club mate, its not up to you to decide where do we vote or where don't we vote ok? Better not come here with those kind of inflamatory statements and speak about your club next time.

You are repeating the same propaganda that was spouted in Portugal, do you really believe he would be sacked by that, come on, what do you know about that.

No we went into a court and I am glad they finished their relation, want an advice mate, worry about your club and don't try to come here and talk about what you don't know ok?

First if all, I will talk whatever I want until moderation think I am out of line.

Can't really understand why you are so offended when we are talking about a president that tried to go on court process sporting fans just because they criticized him on Facebook.

Third, I have no problem talking about my president but he wasn't called here and I don't think Vitória de Setúbal will be called lots of times on this form

The thing is, all this mud sticks. Yet as a fan you get defensive and abrasive and say there's nothing to see - it's all propaganda. But don't clarify anything.

As a united fan on a united forum, I question the behaviour of a well known club, but one whom I'm not familiar with in recent times and I'm told by a guy with no united affiliation to go away and not talk about something I don't know about. Kind of ridiculous.

Because you come here and make stupid analogies with Nazis, think before you write next time.

I am not saying that I agree with everything he says or does, but you must be really naive to think everything you read on the portuguese press is true, so everytime you insult my club I will say the same thing. Sorry about that.

Then bringing his new wife to the forum, how low you go to attack someone you don't like.

If you really believe everything you say is true, so why are you asking? If you don't like the answers maybe I am not the defensive one I guess?

You question the behaviour saying we treat badly our youth players? So if I say that is not true you then say I am being ridiculous, sorry if our President doesn't want to sell more players by 5 million euros, or if he doesn't want to sell a player to West Ham, how horrible is that.

Never thought formal offers for footballers would looke like that.
Amateurs with their e-mails. Everyone knows all transfer activity is conducted via fax.

That's where you are wrong. I didn't insult you club, I profiled your president. If you cant see how these are different things you have a problem. Sporting is an institution with one hundred years plus.

Talking about his new wife helps tracing a personality profile like sometimes you see in this forum about Giggs and his brother's wife.

Should I have brought that he cancelled the loan of 2 players in my team because he didn't want them to play against sporting?

You also accused me of inflammatory posts but that is the first weapon of you communication department and also of your president.

Back to the wife thing. If you think that was low what do you think about the "dildo brother's" thing? Wasn't that low?

You profiled based on the same propaganda a Pedro Guerra of this life can make. Then saying 90% voting for him is a awfull thing? Right, Godinho Lopes or Madeira Rodrigues would be our saviours.

Since this is my last reply (not a full member yet) I cannot answer you more.

Stop calling people to this post that I'm not affiliate to and even have disgust they have a part on Portuguese football.

What I wanted to say with the number of votes was that the siege mentality strategy applied by Bruno de Carvalho was working.

You are showing that the strategy is working because you are here acting almost like a human shield to him.

You criticizing everyone that attacks him, and, has I showed you, with the same weapons that the person you are defending usually uses.

Edit since i can't reply anymore

The comparision to hitler and goebells has nothing to do with racism or anything like that but with the comunication strategy.

Even if those 2 where awful in what they tried to do they were really smart on the way they made the germans jump on the train and that i can compare to the strategy used on by the sporting chairman.

Who follows the football in portugal and is not from sporting, porto or benfica will state this.

Everyone is against sporting. Newspapers, clubs, federation, league and even some sporting fans. This is the speech impliend on every comunication.

Fellas, Portuguese football is rotten to the core. You foreign lot have no idea what's going on. Benfica has been robbing the country and nothing is done about it because they have corrupt members in key areas of politics, league association, they even trained referees and promote them to international after 3 or 4 games.

If there's a "football" entity that can be compared to a totalitarian state is Benfica. And because of them this league has zero credibility, quality and fair play.

As I see it, Sporting's chairman might be a bit daft on his manners and prone to mistakes, but like has been said, he is fighting for Sporting's interests because if he doesn't no one will. And sporting will end up as another Guimarães. He's doing a good job cutting out dead cells around the club. Something I wish Porto would do because, right now, our board is sleeping. (Our transfer window consisted in a backup of a backup GK for 1M and some random south Americans for B team).

Finally, I don't think Portuguese football deserves it's own thread. It's shitty and ugly. Not long ago we had a better league than the French but now, not only they are heaps ahead but the Dutch also have much better entertainment, viewers and players.

No because I think with my head, even being happy with his management I don't have to agree with everything he says or does, but that is why we have democratic elections.

Coming here and making analogies to Hitler and Goebbels, not only is laughable, but if you want to go down this road maybe Carvalho or Saraiva are no different than LFV or Guerra.

Sorry if you don't like to be challenged on your argumentations, but this is a football forum, by the way I have nothing against your club, just don't like to see judgements on the management of our club when we were seriously mismanaged for more than 15 years by the Croquete Dinasty.

Why did he actually get sacked?
That was a long history, but basically since November/December the relationship between the 2 started to deteriorate and everybody knew at the time he would leave at the end of the season, but seriously, can anyone believe you can be fired for not wearing a suit for God Sake

Our president is opinionated and controversial but he knows what he's doing and he's not killing our club like the last few were doing. Opposition fans hate him because he has a big mouth and often says stupid things he shouldn't say, but we'd rather have the bad press than the crooked morons that were our last few presidents. The problem is there are people who judge him on the way he is rather than the job he's doing and think Sporting fans are morons that believe everything our president says.

If he's right on this which he most likely is, Sporting never got an offer for William from West Ham and the West Ham owners lied to their fans and now leaked an email that wasn't actually sent to Sporting. They most likely did this to save face with their fans but this has implications to Sporting too hence the replies from our president.

He is not perfect, sometimes he even loses the reason when he is right about the subjects, then when you have a sports press who basically is atacking him since he got elected, it is the perfect storm really.
Finally, I don't think Portuguese football deserves it's own thread.
I disagree with you on this 1, not on the quality because IMO since 2010 it has been falling in terms of quality, wrong model of development, should be put more attention on the development of young players, more academies for the medium sized clubs, less concentration of players in 1 or 2 agents, but hey, we still create some good young players

Amen, It is laughable to read we treat badly our young players because Dier said he felt insulted because he played here many years, really? 5 million euros to Spurs, not gonna happen with this President anymore.

Final reward was being called his human shield here, and the siege mentality, oh my

I don't even know why you guys take someone seriously who compares the management of a football club to Hitler and Göbbels.

Football executives talking a bit of shit isn't something specific to Portugal. In Germany people like Watzke, Hoeneß and Tönnies do it quite often as well. They wouldn't necessarily call people Dildos (which I think goes too far), but since they rely on votes they have to be politicians to a certian degree and as such you have to sometimes make populist statements.

I wonder if members who follow the Portuguese clubs could tell us more about the people running the club.

I've heard in the past how they have tried to manipulate young players with poor contracts - but recently was quite surprised at the tone they took publicly with the West Ham owners:

https://www.google.co.jp/amp/www.te...-fuels-war-words-calling-west-ham-owners/amp/
Errrm manipulate young players with poor contracts? You've heard? Where in Japan? Care to give me examples? Because i don't remember any. If anything young players have alot of reasons to be grateful to the people running our club now, having prevented the chance of losing our Academy, improving our infrastructures, giving them a chance to become footballers, providing them shelter, top notch facilities/coaches and education.

If Dier is the case, it's laughable, our President merely tried to defend the interests of our club against the lies of Dier's father. He just wanted to move his son back to England (nothing against that) but when you invent stuff and start becoming confrontational, it's only natural our President reacts in an aggressive manner to defend the club. We owe nothing to Dier and got peanuts for him, thanks to the previous board who inserted a laughable clause in his contract. Dier on the hand, owes us plenty. If it wasn't for Sporting and our Academy, he wouldn't have the career he has today (England international and Spurs player).

I'm not a fan of certain aspects of our President's personality but one thing is certain, he's the first President we have in more than two decades, that doesn't take advantage of the club and is a staunch defender of our interested. Like @broccoli said, he turned the club around. He took us from the brink of bankrupcy, having no money to pay wages, being 7th in the league to the financial stable club, with new sports facilities, TV channel, a well run Academy, plenty of record breaking player sales, a couple of cups, 3 Champions League qualifications. We could do better in terms of winning more silverware but after solving our main financial problems and trying to steady the ship, i'm confident we will get there. When we reach that point, i hope he becomes less abrasive and with less tendency for show off (i cringed with his last TV interview).
