Instead of splashing millions on Rudiger Chelsea should have kept him and buy Mahrez.

Not just Zouma, Ake who could have easily performed Rudiger's role and Christensen who is destined to spend the season on the bench.

How the feck did Stoke get him on a loan?
He had loan offers from teams abroad like Marseille and Valencia but he wanted to go to a domestic team to keep him in the mind of the manager.

He's done fantastic so far (saw Stoke's game against Arsenal too) but I get the feeling that no matter how well he does, he still won't get into the Chelsea side. I get the feeling Conte doesn't rate him much.

Also signed a 6 year contract just before leaving on loan after pleading with the club not to sell him. The lad seems desperate to play for Chelsea.

That said Conte seems to like ball playing CBs so its going to be very very tough for Zouma to make the cut. Eitherway, Chelsea have a £50m player on hand. Thanks to the famous Mourinho phonecall.

Have you guys paid attention to Rüdiger at all so far? He's been very good. Fit in seamlessly and has already made it difficult to see a way back in the team for Cahill.

May not have quite the raw power as Zouma (though close) and much better on the ball. He's much further along in his development than Kurt is. Zouma is still very raw which is why this loan is perfect.

I mean it helps that he played in a back 5 that sat deep. What does he do playing in a back four for a team who is higher up the pitch?

Zouma a Chelsea reject, showed our centre backs the true art of defending..

Shaqiri and Diouf showed how to cross a ball.

Great prospect. Interestingly whilst some think good loan moves can't be found in the PL, clearly they can.....

Zouma almost scored an OG at a critical moment. Calm down.

He came back from a serious injury and struggled to hold down a place and now he has got a loan where he will play 30+ league games if he stays fit. When he goes back to Chelsea he will be ready to fight for a spot in the team or join a top team abroad unless Chelsea do us a favour again:drool:

I always thought it would suit him because he has pace to burn and is a monster in the air. All he really needs is experience.

Fosu Mensah is just as big a talent for me.(Zouma is quite better in the air while Mensah has more drive.) Then there is Tuanzebe.

That is on top of relatively young and plethora of improving/before their peak defenders we have.

Why the hell we need another ?

How do you rate Christensen? He's considered quite a big prospect here in Denmark.

I think Mourinho is a big fan. I'd be gutted to lose him, especially to a Prem side.
If Mourinho rated him that highly surely he would have tried to buy him, instead of Lindelof for 30 odd million?

Can't see him.fitting into our squad in the forseable future.

So far this season he's probably been Stoke's best player and from what their fans are saying he's one of few to have come out with any credit, like Thunderhead says.

He's an absolutely nuts CB. I would love if we could nab him. Would he count as homegrown?

No, he signed for them when he was 19.
Ah, I thought it was 18. That's a shame. Still would have him though. Maybe it's grass is always greener, but I am constantly nervous with Smalling and Jones that they're about to drop a clanger or get sent off. I dont feel like he gets in those sort of situations.

I would be very annoyed if I was a Stoke fan if he was the only player who was upset.

Getting beat like that is just embarrassing on a professional level.

Hopefully we do the right thing and keep hold of him. I know Mourinho is a fan of his, Zouma had quite a few opportunities under Mourinho and was impressive until he had his injury. It's quite rare for Jose to give his trust to such a young player, he obviously saw something in him. If Zouma was available I feel Jose would jump at the chance of signing him, hopefully that doesn't happen

With Christensen and Zouma we have two future stars who perfectly compliment each other. Zouma has the strength, power and pace and Christensen has the elegance and composure

Consoled after being beaten? Lad needs to grow a pair to be honest, be pissed off and angry but he looks to be in tears there, it wasn't a cup final.

Stoke were defending with a ridiculously high line for some of those City goals. Sure those cute little blind side balls look great but it looked too easy with City running in behind at will. Where was the Stoke midfield getting behind the ball to make those balls harder to play in ?

Stoke fans seem to have been complaining about the defensive organisation from Hughes.

When I saw him play against us, knew he had evolved and put the injury behind him. Man mountain, cannot be beaten one-on-one.
