According to Mateja Kezman (Sergej`s agent) who was a guest in CRC radio show, we are among few clubs interested in Sergej and seems he was contacted by all of them.

There a few links to this, picked this on Serbian:

A midfielder with his height (191 cm), could see him as JM player but not sure would he fit into JM team.

I think he's excellent. Has been so since his days at Genk in Belgium. That said, yeah, I don't see how he fits here. He's another Pogba type of midfielder.

I remember Juventus being linked with him tenuously over the summer. I'd imagine he's first on their list next year too, he's one of the biggest young talent in Italy at the moment not already playing for one of the big[ger] teams.

IMO his defensive nous is better than Pogba's. He'd replace Carrick superbly in our squad

Perhaps, but could you envisage him and Pogba in a midfield two together? I think they'd still need a third midfielder behind them. The Carrick comparison seems a bit off to me. He played around half of his football for Lazio in a more advanced position last year, and according to WhoScored, something similar is happening again. Half in the AMC/#10 role, and half in central midfield.

Also, as mentioned in the article in the OP, Lazio bought out Genk's sell-on clause for 10m euros, which seems to suggest they're very much preparing for a sale this upcoming summer.

He is Vanja Milinkovic-Savic's brother, who was on trial with us (and didn't get work permission so we terminated his contract).

I can. IMO Savic in the long term will be similar to a Rijkaard type. A true 6 who is able to attack like a box to box player.

Its is true He is used as an AM at Lazio because he is very good at attacking. But make no mistake about it, the guy is a natural for the deeper roles in a 4-2-3-1. Just like Gruljic at Pool. Or say a Saul at Atletico. He'd not be out of place deeper.

IMO he is too talented to remain at Lazio in the long term. I personally hope we are really interested in him. I'd be very happy with having Matic, Pogba, him, Herrara and Fellaini as our midfield options going forward once Carrick is done.

Last time seen in Ireland vs Serbia thread, dunno who summoned him then, maybe there is some blood summoning ritual.
He stopped posting when Vidic retired....so just to bring him back we signed another Nemanja. C'mon @vuc (last seen here 8 days ago). ;)

We've already a player like Herrera on the bench and Andreas Pereira is going to return in a year. There's no space for him.

Yes he is the real deal among the young midfielders now playing Serie A. Lotito is asking for €70m at the very least, I can't see Juve paying that much, so he will move abroad for that sum or more at the deadline next year, just like Keita Balde on Aug 30.

He is an imposing brute. Exactly the kind of player Jose likes. Sergej in the midfield and Jonathan Tah in the defence and United would have a team capable of not only beating them on the scoreboard but hurting them. I would love to see these guys break small technical players favoured by City and Barca in half. It would be like Hulk playing football with smurfs.

Against relegation fodder yes and in the more difficult games Matic/Herrera could come in and make a perfect 3. However as both he and Pogba mature they could definitely play in a 2 men midfield regularly. However I am not sure that midfield is where we need to spend a big chunk of our budget when we have a crater at left back and are still one attacker light. Give me Griezmann and a Left Back next summer then buy a couple of prodigies and we will be set.

Iv'e watched him for a while going all the way back to Serbia's youth teams. He's established himself as a very good player that's for sure, he would certainly play his best football in a midfield 3 alongside Pogba.... and Matic just in behind the two (talk about a imposing midfield). He's a bigger threat in the box then both Pogba and Matic.

The reason he's not being capped for Serbia is that the NT coach believes he doesn't fit into the system... Serbia play a very attacking 523 the wing backs get extremely far forward. The two in Midfield (Matic is one of them) sit back and protect the back 3. Serbia's coach believes SMS is too offensive minded to just sit back. SMS is in a weird situation the general public want him to start for the NT but the NT coach is getting fairly good results and just won't budge.

When Serbia won the U20 world cup he basically played as a number 10 in that tournament. And for Lazio he obviously plays in a more advanced cm position definitely not as a dm. So the only queries i have are his defensive capability's. But then again Matic was a attacking minded midfielder when Chelsea first signed him as a 21/22yo.

It looks that Lazio want €70m for him... its a lot of money. I can see Juve paying that amount cause he's putting in consistent performances week in week out in Serie A. I feel its a lot of money for a younger lad who's never played in the PL. What ever happens i trust Jose will make the right decision.

He's more Fellaini than Matic/Pogba. He relies on his brute strength, is slow, keeps things simple and does his best work near the opposition box.

Matic and Pogba are actually very technical and good passes of the ball and do take the risky pass at times.

He is a Matic and Pogba hybrid. Offensively, he is better than Matic, but not defensively. Has a good shot on him, good technically, excellent header, good workrate, can pick a pass and also has some defensive qualities. He is pretty much complete, but is more offensive than defensive. He couldn't play in a midfield 2 with Pogba, but could play alongside Pogba and Matic in a 3. He could replace Pogba, Herrera or Fellaini in our current setup, but isnt a CDM, more a box to box player or a more offensive CM. Would fit Mourinho perfectly if we moved to a , glad the rumour about him about a possible Liverpool move in the summer was bullshit.

If we move to a 433 or play a 4231 with Pogba pushed upfield, he could play for us perfectly into the formation. If we keep the Pogba/Matic midfield and play with a proper 10/second striker, he wont fit in.

Can someone do a comparison analysis between Sergej Milinkovic Savic and Leon Goretzka???

Couldn’t play him, Pogba and Matic together. They’re too tall and we’ve already established anyone over 6.1 doesn’t make a good midfielder.

Much rather sign Jorginho. Than him. We have matic in his role already and he is not that mobile. Jorginho is carrick readymade replacement and a great cog in the Napoli machinery. Hopefully we are watching when they play city.

Savic would be perfect for United. Big powerful and could anchor our midfield for close to a decade. I would like to see Can and Henderson try to overrun our midfield with Savic there. Jorginho, Jean Seri are other midfielders we should look at for next year. Personally, would prefer Savic as he has the physical presence, Jose likes. If we get Savic we can let Fellaini leave as Savic can do everything Fellaini can do whilst actually being a good footballer.

Any chances of getting this guy in January? As we all know that the transfer fees for any player going to the World Cup is just bound to amplify irregardless of their performances. If Ed is smart enough, he would want to tie him and more of Mourinho's targets well before the first World Cup game.

He looks really interesting from what I've seen but plays in the same position as Pogba as an attack-minded LCM. A right sided version of him would be great though.

I could definitely see Mourinho liking this lad and maybe Ribalta has had a word as well, but right now he is not a Matic cover, he's playing more as an attacking CM.

I can't wait to start seeing the fruit of Ribalta and the new scouting systems labour. He signed some crackers for Juve for relatively good prices too most of the time.

He'd be sat on the bench for us if he came. Mourinho normally sets up with 2 midfielders and at least until the end of next season that's going to be Pogba and Matic.

Yes, he got them Dybala and I imagine he is behind the scouting of Pellegrini and Savic, I wouldn't be surprised to see us buying a player or two from Serie A over the next 2 windows.

With Savic and Pogba both being able to share attacking duties I could see them working in a 3 with Matic.

Yeah I think the same, but I'd say it's 80% certain Mourinho isn't going to change from the 4231 especially if we bring in Griezmann which is looking likely.

I'd love to see a 4321 with attacking full backs providing the width, could look something like

DDG
Valencia Bailly Jones NewLb
Savic Matic Pogba
Griezmann Martial
Lukaku

However, Jose would definitely think that's too open for most games so we're never going to see it under him.
