Teams in the lower half should just agree to trade managers every season

Why can't clubs be more like Hull. Always choosing safer outdated options.

Yeah. I think Graham Potter would have been a good shout (although he might not want to leave at the moment since they progressed in the Europa League).

This is Pardew's 5th job managing a club in the Premier League. What's his greatest claim to fame? Taking Palace to an FA Cup Final is all that comes to mind.

I don't like wishing relegation on anyone (well, almost anyone!) but I would not be disappointed to see WBA, West Ham and Everton all go down.

Yeah, I was gonna mention the same guy, however he is in a better position and might earn him a better job next season.

He got Newcastle to fifth in the 11/12 season and into Europe. Thats something, I guess.
Took West Ham to a cup final as well. He'll probably do what he usually does and start well before all his players realise what a twat he is. Anything to get him off Sky is good.

Crystal Palace tried and then went with safe outdated option when the new modern option looked like clueless idiot.

Yep they should have tried slutsky.... or Pepe Mel, de Boer, koeman, bilic.
Or you could have mentioned Silva, Pochettino, Ranieri

Actually Koeman and Bilic did well. Bilic lost the dressing room. Koeman had 2-3 good seasons

Heard he's brought in Carver as well. Condolences, WBA.

It is hard to managers lower down in the league. It's not like they've got the resources to compete at the top. Sometimes their skill sets match the ambitions of the clubs. Southampton get in foreign managers who are doing well elsewhere - what trees have they been pulling up? They have played some attractive football but overall they've just been mid-table. Pardews sides played some ok football too.

i'm tempted to say something like "it's not like there's a Guardiola hiding away somewhere, waiting for the right chance", but who knows - maybe if someone did give it Giggsy till the end of the season we'd find out otherwise.

That appointment was bound to end in failure. You don't appoint a manager who prefers possession based football just after you've had Big Sam as manager. The players required for both these systems are completely different

I know, it's just that most of the bottom placed teams have players suited to more direct football and they are not very ambitious.Staying in the league is their aim and for that they prefer safe route.

This will keep the soccer saturday panel happy.

I rate him just as low as moyes, hope they both go down.

And Pulis will likely arrive at Swansea or something.

This Pulis-Pardew-Moyes type of musical chairs is a vicious cycle in the premier league.

Thing is, you know he'd been planning that all week. "If we get an equaliser, or take the lead, yeah, I'll do that." Make it all about Alan Pardew and get giffed into immortality. Or it was a bit of PR to make up for this:

Moyes, Pulis, Hodgson, Pardew, Allerdyce. Why do clubs sack these bellend then immediately hire an equally inept manager? What's the thinking behind it?

Because my point is that those clubs making 'safe choices' actually previously made 'bold choices', by his own logic... And the club they should be emmulating is having a shit season with Hull, because of Slutsky.

Why are you putting allardyce in the same bracket as those four?

Was it Keys or Grey that tweeted "RIP british coaching"? Bet they are over the moon.

Personally think big Sam is a much better manager than he gets credit for, definitely better than moyes and co

It was Richard Keys after Leicester appointed Claude Puel. Irony is though Richard Keys might be holding back some talented Qatari/Middle Eastern football presenters from a job in their country/region like he feels foreign managers do talented young British managers.

English clubs are amongst the richest in the world and still they can't find it within themselves to put a strategy in place for making managerial appointments.

Think it's a good appointment for them. Will keep them at the same level Pulis was keeping them at and I think they're content with this.

Sort of, though it'll fall apart far earlier then it did with Pullis.

He'll be gone around 2 years.

He won't last longer than 2 years for sure, but I don't think they care much. By this time another midtable manager will be available anyway.

Finished 5th up here in one magical fluke of a season where all the stars aligned and it's all anyone remembers. Was talk of him for England and tons of higher profile vacancies. All quickly forgotten the following season, mind.

He'll have a purple patch but the rest of his time at the clubs he's managed has been dire and woeful but somehow the Proper Football Men seem to gloss over this when wanking themselves silly over an English manager getting a job.
