Lukaku's non-celebrations

Trouble is this points more to him being a big track bully, which is what many accuse him off. Great against the lesser sides, but goes missing against the big teams. He can sulk all him wants, but until he starts performing against higher profile teams these accusations won't go away.

imo it's clearly because he was at fault in the city game and was abused/criticised/and booed occasionally by the fans. He knows he has not endeared himself to the fans yet and he's still angry about the city result and the stick he got.
Yep, my thinking too.

I know it's 'only a celebration' but I think he is out to prove a point / prove us wrong for criticising him.

I like when he stands still and just puts his arms out.

Also, people don’t like when Pogba and Lingard celebrate, now Lukaku is getting criticised for not celebrating?
Mayhap... there are more than two alternatives?

Or maybe, we shouldn’t police how players choose to celebrate?

The fact that they’re celebrating is because they’ve scored, that should be more than good enough.

I don't know how he can control himself. I get carried away when I score in my Saturday league...

Couldnt care less about them. As long as he is scoring goals and doing the job he was brought here to do, he can ask to feck all of stretford ends wifes and i am sure they wont mind.

Celebrated this weekend after scoring in the dads vs lads kick-about at the end of my sons under-9s training....

First time I've told an opposition player that I've banged their mum as well and it's been a totally legitimate claim

He came to win the league. That is a distant dream. What is he going to celebrate? His goals are just keeping us in touching distance, nothing else. He will feel he was a big contributor in the league race being ended. I, for one, would feel exactly the same. Let’s see his reaction when he scores in the other competitions. I’m sure it will be different.

Probably feels there's no point in jumping for joy when scoring against the sort of teams he always does, when he's just fluffed his lines in a game that really mattered.

Good mentality to have imo, and sure he'll raise a smile over Christmas when he'll likely smack a hatful in, plus have his best buddy back.

Couldn't give less shits about his lack of celebrating.. Scoring goals is his job and he is doing that so good for him and us...

At least he cares that he isn't in top form and it is obvious he really really wants to succeed here. He always works hard and he is very disrespected. Some Man Unied fans flat out call him a donkey.

It doesn't matter as long as he's banging them in. In my opinion he's not sulking, just disappointed with himself. He expects far more and is still probably pissed at that mistake against City. At least it'll probably make him more focused.

We all need to chill, he'll be fine.

I think he's pissed for being criticized on his poor performances and is a way of saying to the fans he disagree.

Glad to see a discussion on his reaction (or lack of one) to scoring instead of the ones about his lack of scoring full-stop. As long as this remains a hot topic, he's doing fine.

I wouldn't celebrate either if I was playing in a team that half-arses it in all the big games

I think he's not celebrating because he knows his form has been shocking and he feels himself he should be scoring more.

Yeah it's just pointless playing in the league and it doesn't matter if we finish 2nd or 15th at all.

Come on, there is plenty to play for even if we don't win the league.
No difference in 2nd or 4th for me. I want us in the Champions League next season but I’m damn sure not gonna celebrate if we get it.

I remember a time when coming 2nd was disappointing.

It's cus he's been found and out knows scoring against minnows doesn't shadow the fact he's not up to task.

A more physical Jermaine defoe.

Yeah, at that point we were regularly winning the league and a few cups to boot. Since Saf retired we've finished in the top 4 once, so finishing 2nd is now an achievement as such.

It's relative.

It's a mixture of his clear disappointment with his previous 5-7 performances and his disappointment with the lack of fan support. Toss in the fact that we are clearly not where want to be in the race for the title - he doesn't have a burning desire to celebrate. He's an emotional man both with the ups and downs. That is why Mourinho loves him.

This forum has truly gone to shits with threads like this.

Why do people even care whether he celebrates or not? Are you folks really that insecure in life? Does everything have to be overanalyzed? Maybe Lukaku is frustrated at his current form or maybe he might have personal issues we don't know about? Personally, he could sulk, or dab, do a tango for all I care, as long as he keeps hanging in the goals.

Nevertheless, I really this is a really petty issue and threads like this helps separate the sensible posters with the crap ones.

I personally think that's actually original celebration. It's not like i haven't seen running, air-punching, jumping and so on after a player scores.

Probably he is feeling unworthy of celebration...
Maybe after he scored against the big six he will celebrate again.
He is an honest guy, I believe that's the case!
Improve more Lukaku!

Why? Based on what, other than trying to be a mind reader?
Surely you’re wumming?

How would I know what a player wants when he come to United? Other than the high salaries (would get more in China), players will come to United to win trophies. To better themselves. To test themselves as one of the best players, playing for one of the best ever managers, at the on of the biggest clubs in the world.

Oh and about reading Lukaku’s mind, I don’t really have to. When he gave his interviews, when he signed, he clearly said he’s come to win trophies. :houllier:

The sign of a striker knowing he's not firing on all cylinders. If it had been a through ball he'd got on the end of, facing goal, accelerating past a couple of defenders and smashing it in the room of the net, he would have celebrated.

Like many on here I think he's not celebrating as a way of saying to the crowd "I'm not good enough yet and expect more from myself".

Whatever it is, it's all about him. How that impacts on the team is a different thing.

Who cares whether he celebrates or not. More important that he's delivering the goods. Whatever his reasons may be, as long as he's using it as fuel to motivate him to better himself as a striker, does it really matter whether he celebrates his goals or not?

When he was celebrating with his arms stretched, does that mean "I'm the boss bithces?

Bold part, you think player celebrating or not makes any difference? At max he gets some shit in the training and dressing room with likes of Pogba, Lingard making fun of him.

I guess it's more likely to mean come and love me.

Bold part. I question it that's all. I don't know one way or the other. There may be some players that would enjoy bonding over a goal celebration.

Goal celebrations are the one time when the pressure is off and you are the focus of attention. Some players feel a need at certain times to make something of this. Why is anyone's guess.

Still the pressure is off and everyone was celebrating, so not sure if makes any difference.

Saying "It's all about him" is just making mountain out of a mole hill.
