One more:

Q: I want to post an article from a newspaper's website. Can I copy and paste the text on RedCafe?

A: No. These days a lot of sites have soft or hard paywalls and Niall has frequently received e-mails from these sites threatening legal action because of posters pasting articles from them so please don't do so. It is fine to paste a link as well as maybe the first two sentences from the article but if you find anyone who has posted a full article, please report it so one of the staff can delete it.
"I watched Gabriel Jesus play three years ago. I watched Mbappe for a year. I was watching them with the scout and it was a no-brainer," Giggs said in an interview with The Times. "It was just like 'get them'. It would have been £5m or something - get them, loan them back - and that's where the recruitment could have been better."

Is Giggs making a case to be the next manager? Or just sticking the knife in?

Good to see that he learned something from Moyes.

Didn't city offer €40mn for mbappe last season and that bid was rejected, Giggs is talking bs if he thinks 5mn would have got us mbappe.

So In regards to this statement from Giggs, what has happened to our scouting? Why are we not signing and loaning back players?
Or are we? Little in the dark in this?

I'm sure plenty of clubs were watching them.

As an assistance manager didn’t do convincing part of signing them. It’s like saying in my resume I suggested to build the house but didn’t convince to go ahead with plan. What a waste time working with moyes and lvg as assistant manager. This guy has ruined all his chances better take up a job in championship and work his way up than try to poke club from out side moyes like

5m is wrt Jesus three years ago. Not unbelievable imo
What really changed until last season? No one really knew him until last season, city bid 40mn before he actually became well known and still the bid was rejected.

I don't know who Gigg is but if he's anything like our own Ryan Giggs, let us hire him.

People assume he's lying... but it may be from when we started scouting Martial. We might have been able to get both for a little more. Still, he would have had to share minutes with Rashford... and things would have worked out differently.

Makes sense that Giggsy would have wanted us to get either of them in. Two young strikers I could see Fergie having loved.

The romantic in me still wants Giggs to be our next gaffer.

Mbappe was a no brainer every scout worth his wages would of known about him. Didn't he play against Spurs in the Europa when he was about 16?

The problem with Giggs's line of thinking is that notwithstanding the possibility of those players not being developed as well as they did had they signed for us, the moment other clubs caught winds of Utd making a 5m offer for a 16/17 year old Brazillian starlet, it wouldn't be 5m anymore.

Look at Wilson. Recommended by him, given his Utd debut under him but completely stagnated.

He's not wrong though, regardless of his motivation.
Hindsight is a beautiful thing.
Can't wait for his next pop at Jose's transfers. His comments about the da silva's and Danny Welbeck, well they have really been lighting up the skies at their new clubs.

Evans is a decent defender and I’m delighted that he’s done well at West Brom. He clearly hadn’t got the mentality to play for United. Welbeck just isn’t good enough, aside from his terrible injury record. Rafael has hardly set the world alight since being sold.

If Giggs seriously believes players like this should be the core of the team thanks to them being “United through and through”, then he probably wouldn’t be a very good manager.

Not really, the post-Ferguson signings have been woeful up until Mourinho (who still got one dud in Mhkitaryan)

I suspect there is also 10-15 names he also told us to buy but would rather not mention.

He wanted us to sign Sanchez while at Benfica as well, I remember him being asked if he was worth the fee Bayern paid and Giggs said along the lines of; Absolutely.

When did he exactly watch Mbappe? He said that it was under LvG but i really doubt that he spent time watching Monaco's second team. But who knows?

Another reason i'm not convinced is that, despite his young age, one of Mbappe's greatest attributes is his ability to read the attacking plays and, therefore, being able to make himself useful to his teammates. Jesus is also a player with great movement in the final third. In that sense, i find it really hard that someone would show Louis videos of both players and he would reject them. His football needs players like these two and we have a severe lack of them in our team. But again, who knows?

I'm just very sceptical about the whole thing.

Sanches had all the top sides after him.

Yes it's not worked out for him yet, but the talent is clearly there that so many professionals saw something in him, and he's only what like 20?

I know people will disagree because it's Giggs saying this but he's absolutely bang on.

Not hard to believe at all, Van Gaal was a buffoon with regards to transfers too.

Giggs sounding a lot like Wenger here

99% of talented player don’t live up to the hype. Stating you “could of signed player x for a few quid when they were 16” doesn’t help anyone really.

Hindsight is a wonderfully useless thing!

Think he was talking about LVG and Moyes. Plus Silva and Welbeck would have saved us buying a Darmain and a Depay who both proved to be worse.

Wasnt hard to see Jesus and Mbappe as special talents. I was also telling people here we need to buy Jesus the season before he went to City after seeing bits of him, wasnt that hard.

Yesterday PSV confirmed the transfer of Romero from Velez sarsfield. Another one with high potential. If he turns out to be not so great, no one will mention him

Mbappé was on most club's radars, the world knew exactly who he was.
