This might not be thread worthy but I'm too excited to care right now! I just got the best gift of my entire life yesterday when my brother surprised me and my dad with tickets to Crystal Palace - United in March. I couldn't believe it and just sat there with stupid smile on my face.. talk about a dream coming true!

Last year the three of us looked into going over for a game but we had to put everything on hold because of some family events and we haven't even talked about it since then so to say that I was surprised when I opened that envelope is an understatement. My brother and I have been giving each other scratch lottery tickets at the most for Christmas as we can't really be bothered to buy stuff for each other, but he has kind of raised the stakes now.. I timed it well this year and didn't give him anything

For those of you who go to away games, how do you feel about Palace? It doesn't seem like the most inspiring stadium I've ever seen but then again it doesn't really matter that much, they could be playing in a field for all I care. Last years game was a cracker as well as far as I remember it, so bring on March!!!!

I bought myself tickets for second leg of the CL, does that count?.

I get the buzz you're on. I live in Ireland and have only seen United play live a hand full of times.

Mind you, the first time I saw United live was at Home vs Arsenal. 0-0 Draw that lead to them picking up the PL trophy on the day!! Greatest day of my life

Congratulations. I can't even imagine how I'm going to feel when I go for my first game.

Nice!

Quick question - was it a paper ticket? I thought all United tickets are uploaded onto a membership card now?

Something quite heartwarming about seeing somebody so excited just to be going to see his favourite team, when so many seem to have completely lost any joy because they don't get the big shiny trophy they think they're owed every year.

Have a great trip. Remember my first game well even though I was 10. Never forget seeing the pitch for first time when you come up the steps

Very nice! :D

We didn't get the actual tickets, he had just printed out the teams logos on a piece of paper and written Live in London 3/3 2018.

Enjoy yourself!

For the record, I'm also going to catch United live for the first time in my life in March for their home game against Swansea! Going with my brother as well and we are both excited as feck!

Now that is a christmas present! Your brother is a top lad.

I've been to Palace away a couple of times. It's rather small as premier league stadiums go but for me that just adds to the atmosphere. Palace away is pure electricity - both sets of fans are loud and sing like their lives depend on it. This is one of my favourite games to be honest - wish I was going.

Congratulations and enjoy ;)

Happy for you mate, I'll never forget my first game, and I met Ruud afterwards at a fan meet and greet and got a picture.

I am guessing that seeing as probably won’t have access to United end tickets so they must be home end tickets. I would advise that you don’t wear anything United related and don’t cheer when or if we score because you will probably find yourself with a bloody nose and watching from outside the ground. Sorry to be a doom and gloom merchant but that’s just the way it is, I have watched United in quite a few ‘ home ‘ ends and it’s not the most pleasant of experiences . You would be better off arranging a home game around the same time, I’m sure you would get tickets and most probably at face value on here

Congrats, my friend. Have a great, great time and yeah the Palace atmosphere s certainly electric - if you're surrounded by Palace fans, I'd simply smile when we score.

These tickets must be in the Palace end right? I’d definitely be very careful about not giving yourself away as being a United fan if that’s the case...

I didn’t have a very decent experience of their fans when we played them in the FA Cup Final in LVG’s final season.

Congrats. There's nothing quite like it to be honest. Have been a few times this season already (West Ham, Newcastle, Brighton) and heading again in January. Tip: get involved in the singing!

There's nothing quite like it mate. Make sure to arrive early and go to a matchday pub around Stretford or Trafford before the match and after if possible!

...he'd need to be there extra early if he's going to make it in time for KO at Selhurst Park!

Haha.

Just been to the preseason friendly against Barcelona and that was fun. Can only imagine how a real game would be.

if you are in the Palace end my advice is to sit on your hands - only been to a couple of away games in the home seats and it's difficult

remember going to one around 2005 when we beat Everton 4-3 - it was tough

and enjoy of course

Just buy a half and half scarf and you’ll be fine sitting in the away end.

For Christmas, my wife (Spurs supporter) gave me 2 tickets for Spurs v Utd game, end of Jan.

Chances are one of us will be going home a lot less happy than the other ....let's face it, I think it's going to be me!

This thread is so heartwarming - gives us all perspective and reminds me of the magical moment I first saw United.

These may not be the best of times, but if all of our fans are as enthusiastic as OP, we'll be giving our players the best chance of success

Hope you enjoy the game mate!

Thanks guys! I appreciate the advice so I'll try my best not to show too much emotion. But if we win the game in injury time again like we did there last season all bets are off.. There will only be around 20k Palace supporters there anyway and I figure I can take them if things go south. :p

Enjoy it, Old Trafford is truly amazing in person.

Went to my first and so far only game there last August in the Friday night opener against Southampton.

Try to get there early and soak it all in, have fun!

I did the same at Goodison but we lost, so it was a bit easier.
