Pros:
  • We're really not doing too badly if you look at the table.
  • He has improved us by getting us into a Champions League and out of the group stage. He's a good cup manager and we shouldn't write him off, even if the league is over.
  • He's the only manager to have won a trophy with United in the first season. He deserves time and support for that.
  • He has a good track record in signing players.
  • He stopped Pep's Barca. Maybe he can do it with United and stop Pep's City.
  • Who else is out there? He's probably our best chance of winning the league and other trophies.

Cons:
  • His brand of football is piss!!
  • Players look demotivated and it looks like it could be Jose's third season syndrome starting early.
  • He's a miserable feck which no doubt spreads through the club.
  • He'll probably not even be here much longer.

Anyway, just some of the thoughts I have about Mourinho. At the minute I think it would be wise to just let him sort it out. Maybe, it's not even thread worthy, but if you have anything to add to that please do.

Pros:
Title winner in 4 different countries
First United manager to win silverware in his first season in charge

Thats it!

There are PLENTY of cons!

He's a Destroyer of creative players. He's ruined Mkhitaryan, Martial and Rashford. He did it to Joe Cole, and attempted to do it to Hazard, before he was sacked!
A pure chequebook manager. If he had his way, he would buy players to make him win ALL 4 trophies in one season. Then he would spend even MORE to ensure he would win the 4 trophies again in the following season! He has complete disregard for the youth and is disinterested in building legacies!
His brand of football in the big games is pathetic! Making no attempt to take the game to the opposition. His comments on Klopp back in October confirmed his status as a manager that needs everything to go his way in order to win games! If you want to win the game, its YOU that needs to do something, and NOT rely on the opposition on making changes!
He is very moody and makes sure that this spreads everywhere throughout the club. The fact that only Inter Milan remains fond of him tells you everything you need to know!

Who can replace him?
I stated in this forum not so long ago that we needed a young, modern manager that would be prepared to build a long-term team. Perhaps the best option is Leonardo Jardim. He has done well everywhere he has gone, none more so at Olympiakos and now at Monaco. He is an attack-minded manager and wants his players to entertain. He is a firm believer in youth and his man-management is first rate. If he is indeed appointed, all of us fans must give him the time and patience to construct a young team playing football the right way.

Its best to ask the question when we are in a neutral position and not emotionally charged following a disappointing result.

Prons:
Proven winner
Building a team
Won trophies in first season
No better manager on the market
Next year will win us title
Can bring big players only because of his reputation
Cons:
Defensive in big away matches

Yeah, i am a fanboy so not so realistic here i guess

His pros far outweigh his cons. No way we should be sacking him at the moment or in the foreseeable future unless something miraculous happens.

Pros

He can still attract top players
Somehow wins trophies with bad football.

Cons

He plays the wrong style of football.
No point building a team around his philosophy if he's off soon, as I don't want this style backing up.
Never has, and never will feel like a United manager.
Too one dimensional, no willingness to change.
Winging bugger.

If you could get Pochettino in tomorrow, how many of you would want Jose sacked today?
Me, but never really wanted Jose in the first place, if it felt like he wanted to be here long term then maybe I feel slightly differently, but only slightly, Poch would have to really want it though.

Im getting sick of these threads now. I find it hard to blame Jose for our defeats and poor performances. The last 3 games are totally down to very poor finishing, lack of quality and commitment. I think the majority of the blame has to go to the players who are just not performing. Countless mistakes and poor decision making have cost us.

What would you guys and girls think of Carlo as a potential replacement if Jose left?

I've seen people mentioning Eddie Howe. I mean feck off. That's the sort of Moyes type logic that got us to this point in the first place.

Let's see how the season goes. Results need to improve swiftly, but top 3 and quarter finals of CL should be the minimum considering our draw and the fact the league isn't doable.

Im trying to objectively think about him and his position as our manager. At what point do we add bad results to the cons. Then the whole argument is much more.

Obssession with his mood here is astonishing. Does he smile or not, is he happy or not, I don't think he's mood spreads through the club.
Also, why do you think he won't be here much longer?

What's the point in a young modern manager when if he is 3rd at Christmas fans just want him sacked ?

Nagelsmann. You need a new way. Just look at what Nagelsmann does in training (just search a little bit).

He hasn't even bothered renting an apartment. He's still living in a hotel after 18 months.

It's quite clear he's a grumpy fecker. You don't have to be a body language expert to notice that. I'd hazard a guess the mood filters down.

Well because he's living out of the hotel. There has been reports about PSG by Paco Gonzalez from COPE, who are quite reliable. Then he has never spent more than 3 years at a club. I'd say thats enough evidence to suggest he probably won't be here by the begging of the league in 2019. And that's the very latest I can see him staying. I'd say he'll be away sooner than that.

I would love to have Leonardo Jardim here..

There are to many cons for us to keep Mourinho here he is turning this into a terribly negative club. Pros are clearly that he has a proven track record.

Let's wait until season finishes and make an assessment. You really can't tell anything from this position. We may go on an unexpected run in CL and on a good run in the league or go out of all the cups pretty soon and fight for top 4.

Too soon for this kind of reaction.

If we look back at the aftermath of the loss against City, when they were celebrating. Jose confronted them. SAF would have told our players to soak it up, and realise that the only way to avoid it again is to make sure we do not lose against them next time. Motivation is the key, I do not think Jose has it in his locker. I also think he now has a major inferiority complex with Guardiola.

Fair play to Paco Gonzalez, whoever he is but I'm calling bs on that.

If he himself decides to leave in the summer tho I'll be the first one to call him a coward.

It is not his grumpiness or anything of that sort. We have seen our attacking players do not know what to do when they have the ball. Surely they need to be told what to do and where to move and how to create space? Seems nothing of that sort is done. Every time our players get the ball, they put their head down and run till they lose the ball.

This is my biggest problem with Jose. He makes mountains out of mole hills. Everything to do with United is just about not spending enough cash, refereeing calls, player performances. Might sound captain obvious but if he actually shouldered the blame himself, maybe it would ease off a bit.

So what? Is there any social study where it's proven that it's impossible to stay in the hotel for more than a certain period of time?

His living in a hotel and not smiling is least of our worries. We wouldn't give two fecks about it if the team performs brilliantly on the pitch.

It could be bullshit. It could be a story planted from Mendes to get a new contract from United and assurances in transfer market. Or he could be just thinking to himself - feck it - I'll have an easy ride in Paris.

Yeah as I said if he decides to go to PSG where he'll have it easy he'll be a big coward.

And if I'm being honest, I hope the board has plan B and clear vision if things go wrong.

But, they too, will make that judgment at the end of the season.

Good tagline, btw. ;)

Im not even one of the people that wants Jose out. I just think to myself - at which point do you start thinking that it's time to reconsider my support for him. I'll give him at the end of the season. If he doesn't make top 4 - he'll have to go, I'm afraid.

He didn't. Barcelona clearly ran out off gas after dominating for a period of time.

Fair enough, agree with most of that. I also think he has to make top 4.
