Good move by Chelsea, he is talented player and with proper coach he can become very good player.

Btw Chelsea are so skint they can't even afford new shirt?

This is funny considering all the @GlastonSpur posts about Barkley and Spurs.

Edit: Will be interesting to see whether he plays as CM in midfield 3 as IIRC his best form was him playing as right sided midfielder.

Think he will make it there, be interesting to see how he does. Wanted him here for the price and i do think he has enough talent. Fergie would have gone for him.

Really cant understand this, barkley had seemingly stalled at everton and he rejected a move in the summer (when theclub had 35 million accepted) so as to lower the transfer price and increase his own wages. I think Willian will leave, not necessarily to us but maybe as he has played less than 50 mins per game this season. With arrival of barkley there has to be an out from chelsea, dont see who apart fr

Willian to united in 3...2...1.....

I genuinely rate him and think he'd be a good signing for Chelsea. It's a bit odd though that they could've just got RLC who essentially plays in the same positions and is very similar to Barkley.

Worth a punt for Chelsea I'd say. He's cheap and has some talent. Let's see if they can make him a player.

Can see why Conte is getting fed up with the transfer committee.

He wanted Sandro, Lukaku et al and ends up with Barkley, Drinkwater and Andy Carroll

Interesting one in terms of how Chelsea set up. I feel like they've lost a little something when they're playing more of a flat midfield three and relying on just Hazard + Morata (or whoever). Barkley kind of just adds to the struggle of trying to fit Bakayoko, Fabregas, Kante, Drinkwater, Willian/Pedro into the side more of a stuggle. Not to mention, Loftus-Cheek upon his return from loan. Regardless, getting him for £15m is pretty crazy, you'd have thought he'd go for a good chunk more than double that at least.

Mediocre signing. I don't even know where they'll play him, unless they decided to bench their summer signing Bakayoko because he has been proven to be shite!

Bang average player. No where near lampard.
But can be pretty useful as rotation, just like we have Herrera.

Don't know why signing a box to box midfielder like Barkley would spell the end for Willian.

Of the areas of our squad we needed improvement this month this is low on the list, though. I don't really understand the need for Barkley at all. If the club felt the need for another midfielder of this type we should've waited until the summer and gone after Conte's "warrior" Arturo Vidal who looks certain to leave Bayern.

Chelsea will likely line up this way:

GK
CB CB CB
RB CM Kante LB
Barkley
Morata Hazard

We should have tried him to be honest. He would have good with Pogba and Matic in a midfield three.

Fabregas in much better and more creative than Barkley. That will be a downgrade for them.

He's talented and I rated him highly when he was younger but he's been extremely disappointing since. Feel Chelsea could aim higher. He may fit in better at a bigger club though.

Chelsea fans : where does he fit in?

Very good player when fit, I'd have taken him at United definitely.

Confusing transfer given they have RLC on the books. Thought he'd be on his way to spurs, would've been a better move for him Imo. What does this mean for Kante? They going to try to play him as the holder?

Fabregas has no legs. Barkley is no Fabregas, but he is a ball carrier and much more creative than Bakayoko and Kante.

Fabre has no legs so they're playing the likes of Kante and Bakayoko behind him to balance the midfield.

Barkley with these 2 will make the midfield a hardworking one but not much creative, and they'll resort to Hazard again to provide that spark of creativity.

They will buy someone to take over Fabregas soon anyway. Barkley gives them another dimension, so he can play with Fabregas and Kante or instead of him and with Bakayoko and Kante. No brainer for 15m

Not a bad signing by Chelsea. Will be interesting to see how he performs for them. Talented player.

They've got plenty of legs with those two though. To me they appear to need a technical playmaking midfielder more. Also can Barkley really excel in a midfield two?

Is this a Conte signing? Conte is a good manager and won't be fooled by average English players. Ross Barkley is another in the endless line of talented players with no brain. I'm struggling to believe Conte's scouting came up with Ross Barkley.

What?.. For £15m even if he’s a squad player it’s a decent bit of business.
