Everton's major shareholder: Lukaku left Everton after a "voodoo message" told him to join Chelsea

Voodoo message also said "you're really good at defending set pieces."

Let's hope his goalscoring drought wasn't because of a voodoo because then we're fecked!

Nonchalantly scoring the winner...
Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems a bit weird for Everton's chairman to come out with this.

Seems pretty out of order to me and a way of trying to get more pressure heaped onto the player who's still trying to get his confidence back after that whole 'song' debacle.

Seeing the message said he should go to Chelsea and at the end joined us, we can know confirm either voodoo is not that accurate or Lukaku stopped believing in it.

Isn't this just some kind of racist joke by the club owner?

I find it hard to believe that Romelu would have offered that kind of reasoning especially as he's represented by Raiola who can normally find plenty of more conventionally selfish reasons to have his player not sign a contract.

I would think he could be sued by Romelu if any of this is incorrect right?

I'd like to think so but its more likely he'd just put the record straight and ignore it. I doubt he needs the distraction or cost.
I surely hope so. The last thing we need is our struggling for goals striker harangued by the evil that are the tabloid journalists.

Possibly time to start being slightly concerned when one of the people in charge of running your club starts coming out with this

There is something wrong with Everton when your officials come up with crap like this.

Seems like they're deflecting or, at least, trying desperately to deflect.

This doesn't appear to add up:
BBC said:
Iranian billionaire Moshiri, who has put £150m of his own money into the Merseyside club to clear debts, said the Toffees offered the striker an "unbelievable" amount of money to stay.

"The issue with Romelu was not financial. As long as I am major shareholder, financial issues are irrelevant," he said.

"I wasted two summers to keep him. First summer with his agent, him and his family we managed to keep him. Last summer we offered him a better deal than Chelsea - whatever they offered we matched but he just didn't want to stay.

"If I tell you what we offered him you wouldn't believe it, but they offered him a better deal."

From what I gauged of Lukaku's twitter, he seems a religious guy and so could likely be a believer of this Voodoo/Satan shite.

Well, guess he decided that the adult Disneyland was better than Voodoo FC.

No, the song "debacle" had nothing to do with his dip in form. That's absurd, agenda-driven nonsense.

The Lukaku song started on September 13th against Basel (bagged a goal).

Sep 17: Everton: goal
Sep 23: Southampton: goal
Sep 27: CSKA: 2 goals
Sep 30: Crystal Palace: goal

His slump started 2 weeks after that, against Liverpool October 14th, and finally broke November 18th against Newcastle when -- guess who -- Pogba returned.

His drop in confidence coincided with being unable to permanently put to bed the narrative that he can't score against big clubs. It had nothing to do with the song, which he never said he was offended by.

I can't blame Rom for believing in this as it clearly works. I have been sticking a pin in the foot of a doll i made of him everytime he goes to take a first touch since he left.

Well, yes a lot of people of African decent are religious and there are some West African faiths that combine aspect of both Christianity and Voodoo, however I don't think Romelu is stupid so I can't see him using faith or belief in that way to justify a move especially concerning Voodoo to justify a stance that he didn't really need to make in the first place as given his success at Everton a move was inevitable.

I agree with @BAMSOLA it comes across as a racist comment to me.

Could it be that a decision happened to be made after returning from an African country. I don't see why it has to be seen as a pilgrimage or involving any voodoo.

Disgusting comment IMO.

He's actually really catholic and reads his bible every night for inspiration and motivation. I can't imagine him coming up with something like voodoo to explain away his coming transfer (to another club than the voodoo told him).
He did call his mother but that is because she and her opinion are the most important to him.

His parents are from African descent but he was brought up in Belgium as a Catholic boy (no voodoo).

This sounds like some racist talk from Moshiri.
