Anyone know how he's been doing? Is the promotion due to ability/impressing or maybe injuries at U23 level?

Looks an amazing talent from the little I’ve seen. I hope some of others in this group of talented kids get the odd run out over the next few years.

I can’t help but be a bit skeptical about Gomes getting a chance. He’s a great talent, but he’s also the one from the most hopefuls that is local, and has the biggest profile in the academy in this country. As the captain of this talented England team, we have a responsibility to show we have a plan for him, and losing him to a European giant would attract a lot of media interest and criticism.

If it’s just because he’s a gifted young player, then hopefully a few others in a similar bracket of talent get similar treatment in the next couple of years.

How has this guy getting on for us? Remember him being rated quite highly when he signed, and know that he signed his first professional contract not too long ago so just wondering how he's been getting on?

Class goal from a class player. Here's hoping for an injury-free season so that he can really push on in the u23s.

Alan Hansen would have a field day with that defending. Is it true he has been injured as I was hoping to see him in the U19 Euros, was he missign though injury or just didnt make the squad as he is highly rated isnt he? Seen nothing of him bar youtube

Its a training session making it not even that impressive of a goal. He runs about 50 yards unopposed and then some clearly half assed attempts at tackles. He'd have been hit hard 30 yards earlier in a proper game.

He was injured for most of last season. As for the u19s, he is 2 years younger than most of them and half of them have Ligue 1 experience. He isn't even close to being in the conversation for making that team.

Yeah, I can understand being excited to see young players perform but that is a training, it's against other kids, none of this really matters. I'll always remember how much of a monster I thought Gael Kakuta would become as he looked like Messi against youth teams and in youth international tournament, nothing panned out for him that way and he's more of the rule than the exception.

Cheers, well were some good players in and omitted from that side

Tidy performance, this. His set up for Greenwoods goal was perfect.

How has he done so far this season?

He's been one of our best players IMO. Had some absolutely brilliant performances. My biggest criticism of him though is that he can start some games slowly, where he's fairly quiet in the first half but then becomes unstoppable in the second.

Interesting stuff. Haven't been following too much of the u18's games, apart from some of Greenwoods performance reports.

Traore seems to be a type of player that we desperately need.

If he can stay injury free, lad is going to be a beast. Him and Gomes are my favourites. I'd get them involved with first team training.

He's added a lot of end product to his game this season with 4 goals & 7 assists in 15 starts 7 & 2 sub appearances

He is a interesting player. Can't quite figure out what's his best role in midfield though. Bit like Pogba.

Maybe more like Dembele. He has the feet of Pogba and his role is similar, but Pogba was a great passer, great creator, and had a rocket of a shot at that level. I mean, that's not really a criticism as almost any midfielder loses out on that comparison. I quite like Traore for what he is.

He's huge for a lad of his age and thats got to be taken into consideration, has he played for the u23's yet? Would be interested to see how he does there before talking him up too much.

12 mins as a sub against Derby in Feb, match finished 1-1, though he did feature in the U23s pre-season friendly games (Northampton, Stoke, SV Ried). It is possible he may be involved in the 2nd half of this season; that is if Hamilton goes out on loan.

At the moment the U23s have more players than Sbragia wants to use on a regular basis. Have to wait and see what happens in January.

U18 football is a different game. Tons of goals, lots of attacking players and even central midfielders, with impressive goals and assists stats. Best attacking sides at U18 level average above 3 goals a game. At U23 level anything above 2 goals a game is very good.

Even U23 football is such a poor standard that I find it difficult to assess players.

Some of his season highlights so far. He's been one of the standouts for the u18s this season, looks a good player in the making. I think he has a lot of promise, if he keeps this sort of form in the u23s I'd wager we'll be seeing a lot more of him in and around the first team next season.

he could be a beast, if he trains on. reminds me a bit of Pogs when he was a kid. He was at PSG, as a kid (Traore, that is), wasnt he?

Looks so much like Pogba in everything he does on that.

Aliou is the type of player that would be playing first team football based off his physical attributes alone in ligue 1 for one of the lesser sides, let's get him some first team exposure next season via the loan market, it can only do him good

Hard to judge him when his physicality is such a big part of his game....

He's massively overrated.
It’s a shame really, I think he has a lot of ability he just doesn’t know what the feck to do with it. He used to frustrate me because he took too long to get involved in the match, now he just seems to hide from his responsibility on the pitch.

I have no idea why the staff seem to rate him higher than Puigmal. His physicality can be a great asset at times but the number of times he runs down blind alleys or can't compose himself to make a simple pass is seriously frustrating.

......that said, it's not easy to say how young players are going to develop and we have seen this going both ways. There was no chance I ever envisaged Scott would be playing against PSG in the CL.
