Out of the box XenForo only allows you to ignore specific users but we've now installed a new add-on to allow you to ignore specific threads and even entire forums.

To ignore a thread look for the link at the top of the discussion:

To ignore an entire forum, look for the link at the top of the thread list for that forum:

And to manage/change what you're ignoring, there are links in the account dropdown menu:

Note:
Ignoring of threads does not work on the thread listings on the homepage. That's a separate add-on and updating that to work with this extended ignore add-on is not a priority right now.

If you have any questions, don't bother asking me because I'm now ignoring this thread! :D

Bye!

Why to ignore users or threads? Many people have such a spoiled nature that only want to hear opinions that will confirm what they already think.

It means people who complained about the football or other drafts can now just hide those. Ditto with any long running topics you just have no interest in.
Oh, fair enough. But still i dont agree with ignoring users.

You might as well just pop me on ignore, old boy as I plan on creating 58 threads over the weekend and 2 of them have your username in the title. :smirk:

Ignored threads still appear when I click the tabs at the top.

So for example, if I ignore "Rugby 2018 Discussion" - (who gives a toss).

Then the thread disappears when i'm in Other Sport forum. But if I click the General tab at the top it's still listed?

Good update to the site. :)
For those wondering:
This was possible before but you had to put the OP on ignore in order to get rid of threads.
A lot of us enjoy the self-moderation that the Caf offers.

Oh, does this mean I can ignore all threads about Ronaldo, Bale... All the City players, and what not players I don't care about?

The only thing I don't really like is that you don't see the 'new posts' link in the black bar. Instead now you see 'FAQ', 'threads you ignore' and 'forums you ignore' on the black bar when you are in a thread. So you always have to do an extra click to get to the 'new posts' function. At least on mobile, haven't seen the interface on a pc yet.

Surely the 'new posts' is used more by everyone than the ones just added?

Edit - Apparently on landscape mode it's still the same as it used to be, it's just portrait mode that doesn't show the 'new posts' function.

@Niall love the idea of the new feature, I can definitely see it coming in useful at times, thanks very much!

Just a small request - would it be possible to move "New Posts" along to the far right after "Forums you Ignore"? It's a button myself and I'm sure the majority of other people use a lot so it's nice to be able to point your mouse straight towards it rather than having to concentrate on exactly which bit of text it is. (Lazy/Pedantic, I know:( ). Also if the mobile theme is dynamic is might mean it is visible by default again as it's currently hidden with the two new options visible.

Great stuff Niall, although as you stated it's useless for those of us who only use the tabs on the front page.

I'm amazed that Niall spent an entire 10 quid on the forum to provide this, that must have hurt him.

The “New Posts” link not being visible on mobile is definitely a pain. I’ll see if I can sort that out.
