Job done. Loved the counter attack of the second goal.

Now to concentrate on the important matches coming.

Not a great performance, Huddersfield dominated at times. But we were clinical. GG Lukaku. Good to see Bailly again.

Happy with that. Rested important players. Made light work of that, probably never went out of 2nd gear all game. Thankfully they weren't flying in all over the place like last time we played them.

Better 2nd half. Smalling was a wall. That Martial cameo was something tho. Little message to Sanchez and Jose I guess. Even managed to track his man and would get back unlike some.

Win lifted me from that terrible Newcastle defeat. Still some problems going forward, but with Bailly back, maybe our backline can regain some composure again.

Good mood for Sevilla. Bring it on.

What you want at this stage, no injuries, didn't exert much energy and efficient overall

That reminded me a lot of the EL final game vs Ajax. We deliberately set up to defend to conserve as much energy as possible hoping our attacking players would take their chances and they did. Great result in the end despite the VAR farce. Onwards and Upwards. Now to do the same to Sevilla.

Not our best game but it's all about the win with CL coming up.

Sanchez planing on the left is going to be an issue for us though, doesn't cover his fullback enough. Needs to play in the middle like he did the second half. Linked with Lukaku very well too

good goals but our overall play in that first half was shocking. when Huddersfield were pressing we just gave it up too often, as usual. they were dominating the game ffs. unfortunately for them they lack any quality to finish off their good play, wheres we had Lukaku and Sanchez.

Pretty poor stuff but 2 really good goals by Lukaku. Overall pleased, 2-0 is a good result.

Entertaining game. I enjoyed it. Credit to Huddersfield for having a go!

Good performances from Smalling, Lukaku and Sanchez.

Sanchez, Rom and Smalling...equal game balls. Shaw was good too.

Midfield players were shite honestly.

Hey, can Bailly play holding mid? He's got pace and physicality.

First half - dear God, second a bit better, specially after they couldnt press us anymore. I would like to see us try to counter how we did for counter, instead of hoofing it the moment we win ball, like we used to.

That counter attacking goal was a highlight for me

Outplayed by Huddersfield for large portions of the game, which was bizarre when we had 3 CM's on. Thankfully they haven't got any firepower and Lukaku was clinical with his two chances.

Agree.

Shaw was badly exposed and Huddersfield went 3v1 on him the entire first half. Was a bad showing on our part for the 90 minutes but we won I suppose.

Tony and Martial.
Martial still played and Tony not really indispensable anymore. Thought that was a very strong line up - worrying how we got dominated by a team that only throws bodies around.

Better in the second half, partly due to them running out of steam. Clinical finishing aside, unacceptable overall.

Good result, painful to watch. Remind me, which team has had millions spent on it and has supposed one the best managers in world?

Overall, good result in the end which gets us into the Quarter Finals.

Performance wise? Shambolic at times, went 1-0 up within 3 minutes then let Huddersfield completely dominate us over all areas of the field and basically invited a goal. Despite what some people have been saying some good defensive work, including from Smalling, kept them out. Our best spell was for about 10 minutes around the 60 minute mark when we got the second goal and Huddersfield tired out and their pace dropped. Other than that we played most of the match in our own half, sitting back and letting Huddersfield dictate the match. Even after going 2-0 up and that good 10 minute period we sat back again and invited them on us.

Basically, an expected win against relegation fodder but we made it harder on ourselves and sat back instead of continuing forward to kill them off. For me this match sums up our season as a whole, at one point we looked absolutely dreadful, couldn't string 2 passes together, attack was non existent, defending desperate, the team looked absolutely clueless and we made Huddersfield look like they were Manchester United and not us. Then at another point we looked quite slick, some nice one touch passing, some penetrative play, Chris Smalling playing really well, so I mean I don't know what to say. That 10 minute period if we play like that for the whole match we'd of smashed them, as we would of done a lot of other teams this season.

Average performance but a decent result.

Excellent individual performances from Lukaku, Smalling and Mata. A mention for Martial as well who I thought was great in his cameo.

Today shows we need more options in midfield, but we knew that already. On to the next round!

Good result but I'm just going to touch on something that bothers me greatly. Why are our energy levels seemingly so low? The teams we face always seem to run more and run with a purpose. We can't always start slow and expect the oppo to run out of steam.

They were pretty much all over us - smalling was excellent, lukaku was clinical.

Cant stand wagner, where was that display against liverpool a couple weeks ago
