@Ekeke is convinced he is a bag of toss.

There was a poster last year saying that he was overrated a lot too, can't remember who.
Can you quote me where I said that? Or you know, stop lying?

I said we shouldn't be spending the money suggested that it costs to sign him, on a championship player. Was happy our business was Sanchez instead, someone who went right into the team

Not sure if it's been mentioned here already, but surely if we sign him he's likely to be played as either Left Back or Right Wing?

Maybe it's just me, but i struggle to believe Jose would sign him to compete for an already overloaded LW position, adding to this, he's left footed so is more likely to be played on the right as most wingers these days are played in positions which allow them to cut in. I mean... Sessegnon on the right wing doesn't sound too bad to me.

The quoted fee was only £25m and his signing would have nothing to do with Sanchez as he would be loaned back anyway.

So not helping the first team, which was my point. Still waiting for you to quote me saying Sessegnon isn't any good.
I can't be bothered to look through your old quotes, sorry. I will take your word that you rate Sessegnon and that I misremembered the general jist of your moaning about potentially signing him.

Fair enough. So yeah, my point wasnt so much about the player, but about spending all that money on anyone from the championship. Player looks a very good finisher

His stats are incredible but I’m sceptical about his technique to be honest, might get found out at Premier League level. Demi Mitchell is a better natural footballer.

Sounds like he's guessing based on speculation really.

"I think that a deal has been done for Ryan as teams have been in for him.

"It's a Premier League side with strong rumours of Tottenham. I wouldn't be surprised if other sides have been in for him as well.
Yeah, seems he is looking for some attention .

I would imagine that every team in the Premiership will be in for him. I also doubt now that he will come to Spurs as his asking price in the summer is likely to be absolutely insane - £40 million + wouldn't surprise me.

He's down to two years on his contract this summer. I think a reasonable deal could be sorted if Fulham get a loan back or something.

As a young player you could do a lot worse than Spurs, great training facility a manager that isnt afraid to give youth a run if they are performing in training.

Man City would be a terrible idea, Cashiola just spent enough money to cure aids in Africa on fullbacks. And he would never get a run, probably get paid pretty well though to sit on the bench.

I've read, on a number of occasions and boards, posters bemoan personal regret at not having bought a player before a competitor. Clearly every club must be selective, but when supporters wish Alli, Wanyama, Toby, Davinson Sanchez, Bale had been snagged in time, is frequent. Latterly, wishes have been expressed that Kane should be hired.

While recognising the greater financial muscle, buying' off the peg' , with it's obvious benefit, makes the hindsight posts rather risible.

And so it might be with Sessegnon. A few clubs spend fortunes every year. Only one can win the Champions league. All others are reletive failures. Only one Premier winner. All others fail.

The answer, for the rich is to spend another fortune. In hope, while enviously looking at the young talent, nourished and nurtured, with a team ethic. For a fraction of the wasted millions.

Plus ca change.

Looks like a physical specimen but fairly average on the ball/technically. Prob make an excellent LB.
Are you actually serious? Ryan Sessegnon a physical specimen? Have you ever seen him. He's 17 years old and looks it.

Just Scored again.

We really should be looking at this kid, I’m completely sold on him.

And he's completely sold to Spurs, everything points that they've reached an agreement for a deal already.

Quiet game today but got the opening goal. Fulham undefeated in 12 now in the CH and pushing for automatic promotion, the manager started playing Sessegnon up top full time in the second game of that sequence, in which he has scored 9 and got 2 assists.

That means he's either a Southampton or Man Utd fan..
He also mentioned Bale in the full quote, so he was in awe of the Shaw at Southampton. I think he's a boyhood Liverpool fan (no pun intended)

How good is this kid, actually? All that gets spoken about are his goals, position and age.
What's his two-way game like? Can he tackle? Does he have defensive situational awareness? Is he tactically adept beyond his years or just too good for the Championship? Technique (close control, passing, crossing, one and two touch etc.)? Is he good off both feet, does he overlap well? And so on and so forth.

Basically, are we looking at a potential elite talent here or someone who is going to get 'found out' as he rises through the ranks?

I know, at 17(!), he's doing incredible things, but are we talking about a prodigy here or a kid with a few, very particular, spikes to his game - a Rossi/Morrison level talent as a teen or a few rungs below that?

Can't deny his goalscoring rate as it's incredible, but I'd love to know more about the actual player. Of the established full-backs in the game, who is he most like? Of talk of him being moved forward, in that respect, who's game is his most similar to?

You ask for a lot!

Out of the 4 top wide attacking prospects in the 2000 England group: Sess, Foden, Sancho and Hudson Odoi, he is definitely the least exciting to watch.

Sessegnon is a weird player to categorise. The other 3 players I mentioned are easy to define. The obvious comparison is Bale and there are similarities in the positions they play and sometimes when he strikes the ball with his left foot he has that same eye catching technique as Bale.

I have mostly seen him play as an attacking left forward so I can't comment on his defensive qualities too much. This will scare a lot of people but he reminds me of Depay a bit, in that he is mostly a goal scorer from the wing position and if he doesn't score he can be a bit anonymous. I think he can be marked out of the game like Depay too. He is quicker (though not top level) than Depay and has a great engine. He isn't tall and is quite slim currently but that could change with him being 17.

Weirdly he is a really good poacher and has a strikers instincts (see his goal against Wolves). I think he would be great in a Pep side getting on the end of those low crosses into the box. I think he would be better than Sterling is that same role as he is a better finisher and has those penalty box instincts.

I fully expect a lot of people not to rate him when they start watching him. I think he will be a player that justifies himself by the goals he scores.

When someone garners the attention this kid is getting, it certainly does beg for a thorough examination of him as a player. I'm just curious because I've watched nothing more of him than a few youtube videos and they only highlight his goals, really, which is the least interesting thing (as they are a given - the kid scores goals) as you then want to know how he handles himself, his potential for growth and his understanding of the game.

I was going to ask a lot of full-back related questions, but sounds like he's got little in common with the position - if we're talking attacking talent, then he's got a lot to live up to when there's so many potentially great youngsters coming through in those positions. Would you rate him along the lines of a Coman, Dembele or the myriad of wing-forwards making their name having broken through and gone on to top clubs?

You mentioned Bale, but a young Bale was a ridiculous athlete with a very refined left foot (crossing, free kicks, shooting) is it just Sessegnon's shooting you'd compare in terms of technique with his connections to the ball?

I just wonder if this kid is English-level good or whether he's a world-scale young talent. I know next to nothing of his hype train, so I'm trying to create a point of reference from this thread.
