Trailer is out:

First one was fantastic I thought, great depiction of the HP world magic and Newt a cool leading actor, not as annoying as many fantasy heroes/anti-heroes often are.
Grindelwald story always sounded fascinating to me in the HP books so really looking forward to that one. Oh and young Dumbledore is obviously gonna be really interesting as well.

Who knew Dumbledore was a fashionista in his younger days.

The first one was decent enough but nothing spectacular. Newt was good, and I thought it was refreshing that a muggle had a significant role for once. Probably the only thing I felt lacked in the HP movies. Yes the muggles had a part at the start of most of the movies but as soon as the wizards entered platform 9 3/4 the muggles were very much non-existent.

I enjoyed the first one until they introduced Jack Sparrow. He is likely to ruin this franchise.

Well, muggles are useless, aren't they? What would they be doing in HP? I didn't mind the guy in the first one but he was there for comic relief and for the protagonist to have someone via whom he can explain stuff to the audience.

Yeah, looks interesting.

I enjoyed the first one too but that was due to the plot being very different and Eddie Redmayne being brilliant as Newt.

It was honestly a better film than any of the Harry Potter films.
Nah, don't really agree with that. I'm not a Harry Potter fan either, not read the books. But the 3rd film onwards is very good. Fantastic Beasts had a very strong start and gradually lost its way to a very weak ending. But the concept and visuals were fantastic and Redmayne was superb.

Weird I thought it was slow at first and got a lot better in the second half! Good film though. I'm a big fan of HP anyway so I probably liked it that much more.

I felt it got very Disney in the 2nd half. Nothing intelligent about it, very soppy. Which was a shame because the first half was charming and pretty unique.

Worst thing about the first film by a mile was "no-mag", just an awful phrase, less of that in the sequel would be excellent.

Every Film past the 4th was pretty much horseshit. Watch them and imagine not having read the books: so many stuff isn’t explained and just randomly shows up because the filmmakers assume you have read the source material. Pace is sometimes terrible, the „one book one year“ concept doesn’t really work as a film at all. They films just don’t work as films. The coloring of later movies is ridiculous as well, the directing is subpar and just rescued by the fact the cast is extremely talented. Thing that pissed me of the most is the stupid fact that everyone can somehow fly in those movies, which just goes against everything established in the books.

I haven't read the books and followed the films fine?

I immediately had the same rather nerdy objection. Maybe they'll explain it in the film.
Maybe they didn't have the control measures back then? I'm kind of interested in that light thingy, deliminator? I thought that was Dumbledores so did he give it to Newt? Or take it from Newt? Assuming thats Newt in that shot in the first place which it might not be.

Some of the cast are very talented, Daniel Radcliff and Rupert grint are so wooden they should be varnished.

There's no way they don't explain it. It's a pretty well known thing, which has been mentioned in the films even. Plus, J.K. is part of the production, so these kind of obvious mistakes are unlikely to happen.

Disagree completely having read all the books first then watched the films.

I didn't notice them at all. Which plot holes?
Them never explaining the marauders map (because of that, it makes no sense at all in the films that Lupin shows up in the shrieking shack...how does he know?). Them never explaining how the Barty Crouch Jr. trick worked. Snape knowing Lilly’s last words, although in the films, that‘s not possible. Time turners, even worse than in the book. The studio triwizard tournament, which made no sense at all in the books. There’s too many to list them all really ...

Dumbledore isn't really gay anymore, right? Not now that it might cost them money.

The Harry Potter books pretty much had the racial and sexual politics of a 1970s sitcom. Not a hint of homosexuality in the school and with ethnic minorities kept firmly in the background. J.K. Rowling's public image as some sort of left wing Twitter sage is quite odd, really.

Came here for Fantastic Breasts but left disappointed.
I came here to make that joke:mad:

I like HP (mainly the later films), but will give this one a pass since I hated the first one.

Keep it going, I‘m interested. As a casual viewer, I‘ve never heard of half the things you listed, but I remember time traveling was fecking dumb:lol:
