I think Smalling and/or Jones will be off this summer.
Expect so too. If we are signing a first choice centre back to partner Bailly, that leaves Lindelof and Rojo as backups.

Wonder how much we could expect to get for the pair of them.

Jones nearly always plays when fit. Jones/Bailly is our first choice partnership whenever they are fit. I highly doubt Jones is gonna be sold. So either Smalling goes (i doubt it)or most likely we won't be buying a new CB.

I'd sell Smalling and blood Tuanzabe.

Given the money Jose will want to spend in the summer to probably recruit 2 full backs and a midfielder, I'd struggle to see us retaining 5 centre backs + Tuanzebe and TFM. He probably won't get a pile of money, so selling players will be pretty key. Maybe you're right about Jones, but I can't see Jose then trying to sign Alderweireld or another centre back. Personally, I'd rather we sign a top class centre back and sell Jones and Smalling, rather than just selling one and continue with what we've got.

From the best form they've showed:

1. Bailly
2. Rojo
3. Smalling
4. Jones
5. Lindelof.

Not sure where I'd put Blind. Above Lindelof but below Jones probably. I really don't rate Lindelof. Defensively very bang average imo.

I didn’t expect that. Thought he would be the one we would sell in the summer. But i’m happy he is staying. Only left-footed CB in the squad.

Barely played for a year...let’s commit to a 4-5 year contract. Fecking hell.

Well personally if we are to buy a new CB I'd rather we sold Rojo, but that's not happening now. The reason I think we won't be buying a CB is Jose has already said our summer transfer window will be "short", so you're looking at a maximum of 3. Its odds on we'll be buying a atleast 1 CM and 1 FB and probably one more in either of these positions. I struggle to see us buying a CB. Of course, this is all based on what Jose said in the past, it could all change or he may not have been totally honest.

Yeah! when he plays. which is too seldom for my opinion, he does it for the badge. Limited to left side CB (definately not LB). Just needs to tidy up his game a bit, keep free of injuries and he'll be important for us. Like to see him get into the Argentinian squad, although not likely to happen ap.

Was expecting him, Smalling or Jones to go this summer (it should be Lindelof but that's for a different argument). Looks like it's Jones.

I like Rojo when he plays. He puts his body on the line BUT overall with our CBs how many of them actually stay fit? Maybe we do need 6/7/8 of them. Just hope Bailly stays fit. Wouldn't care if Smalling/Jones/Lindelof left. Just not good enough.

Lindelof will be sold in the summer.

Absolutely baffling purchase as he is poor at ever aspect of defending sadly.

Cannot head the ball.

Cannot tackle well.

Is ridiculously thin and weak for a CB.

Is slow compared to our other CB's.

Is not brave.

Is at best reasonable on the ball under no pressure.

But sell Smalling though.

Not excessive if half of those are injury prone; Rojo, Jones and Bailly.
Which is a waste of wages ultimately. Lindelof for example has been fit all season and despite Bailly, Jones and Rojo being injured frequently he's not featured hugely. One has to be sold.

True, can't deny that. Until Lindelof improve and perform much much better, keeping the injury trio (is like at its worst like this season, it's equivalent to having one available at a time) is kind of we had to, for now. Need Lindelof to be better and replace them, or new better available CB, but then again new players can be hit or miss. One of them at least have to be sold eventually.

Lindelof has been nothing to write home about in his first 6 months at the club, but that's key there. I've seen immense centre backs have relatively poor starts at the club. I don't think he'll turn out amazing, but at least I know Smalling won't improve.

He earned his contract extension when he was went bare chested and marauded into city's locker room. We Need those type of players in this current weak minded locker room.

Lindelof is useless. He cannot do anything a CB should be able to do at this level.

TFM and Tuanzabe are miles better and actually have potential so his presence is preventing their access to the squad.

Smalling is fine as a squad player. Rojo and Bailly should be the starters when fit and Blind should be fourth choice.

Jones(Injuries) and Lindelof must go.

I'm not sure it's possible to evaluate how well TFM or Tuanzebe will do at centre back, but you lost me at Blind as fourth choice. No pace, no aerial prowess, composure sure, but not the arsenal needed for a centre back.

Him and Phil Jones destined for more physio time together. When he plays, he’s on the edge of a red card. I am not convinced he’s the best we can get.

Don't see the point of this to be honest. He's injured a lot, he's very rash in his tackling, is poor on the ball. I appreciate he is only 27 so a good age and he can cover full back as well, but not a player I rate at all. I'd honestly much prefer one of the younger lads were promoted in front of him and he was let go. Maybe they want to sign him up to get a transfer fee for him down the line, I don't know.

Hasn't showed as much as Rafa but hope him to be our Rafael. This kind of aggressive player who is just giving his all in the game. Fingers crossed he recovers well from his injury and reoccuring injuries and get to his best. He was seriously top defender for some months before he got his ACL done..

That's very outdated perception of him. When was the last time he got one? He's agressive player yes but red card waiting to happen well he got better in that regard

Constantly at the STD clinic.
Yeah good stuff but even Messi can sign a 10 year extension with us and I'd still be depressed right now after the way we exited the CL

I think a few people are forgetting the level of consistency he achieved last season. A CB who is solid, but not top class, doesn't outperform the other defenders for large portions of the season. He's an excellent defender much maligned for his poor stint at LB by fans. If he gets the injuries sorted he's in contention, "no question about that".

Baffled at how many people think this is good news.

He's been here 4 seasons now and there's only been one period where he's been both consistently fit and playing well. He's usually injured or shite.

He was pretty solid last season and he probably has the exact mentality Jose wants, willing to go to war on the pitch. As 3rd or 4th choice, I'm quite happy with him extending his contract.

He plays like he gives a shit. Was good before his injury last season and improving. I dont see any negatives here, as long as he gets fit again and pushes for a starting place. Feels like the Argentinian Jones with his injuries though, but i would give him some time.

Rojo has his weaknesses, but he showed some good form last season. if he can keep himself fit, could be a good backup. And he does not panick like others when ball is at his feet (although he likes to play long hoof balls so often, and in our setup that is a plus!).

Does this mean Jones is out of the club? Surely, it has to be Jones/Lindelof.

I do find it strange that we give contracts out when a player hasn't really done much all season.
