Would rather him than Smalling to be fair. Happy with it, but need to sell Smalling or Jones and buy a top class CB to pair with Bailly. Lindelof is shite for now but I still have some hope for him.

Pleased for him, he can be very hit and miss but you can't fault his attitude. Still a good player to have in the squad, not as a left back though.

I hope this contract extension is just to make sure we acquire a decent transfer fee for him. However, it's no doubt just another example of everything that is wrong with this club.

I don't think we have a lot of difference in standards between any of our defenders. It is not like one is very average and another is really good at it.
So unless we are planning to sell most of our CBs and buy another 3 or 4 this summer, it makes sense to hold on to the ones we have for some more years.
Not that enthused about this. I rate him our 4th best CB after Bailly, Smalling and Jones. Would have preferred us selling him and promoting Lindelof to 4th choice with TFM as backup and Tuanzebe out on loan.
For all his faults Smalling is our only centre back that isn't constantly injured.
If we sold him and brought nobody in we'd be fielding matic in defence by Xmas.
He's probably the most underrated player at the club. Good news.

He's the only CB we have that actually plays on the left side of the defense so I can see the logic in keeping him.

This is good news. He is certainly a warrior on the pitch, if he's played as a CB. RoJones was our best defensive partnership for a long time last season when Bailly was out injured. He'd do anything for Mou: Even eat a banana on the pitch to prove a point.
Rojo should be our back up CB/LB.

For me our second best defender. He has balls. Plays always with maximum desire, solid on ball( well better than jones and smalling) and his partnership with bailly last year was the best we had after vida- rio era.
I like him when he isn't in hoofball mode.

Good as an squad player, the problem is we mostly have squad players in cb position. We just need 5 cbs, 2 top quality, 2 squad quality and 1 youngster. Currently we have 1 top quality in Bailly, and 5 squad players (Smalling, Jones, Rojo, Blind, Lindelof) we should be shipping out at least 3 of them, to make room for the youngsters to get their chance.

Good news. I like Rojo and if he can stay fit he's a very good option to have. Hopefully Dave will sign any day now too.
I'd probably keep Smalling over Jones. Jones is just too unreliable whereas Smalling is inferior he's usually fit. I think we may sign a new center back this summer to slot right into the starting XI.

Good news this,was a bit surprised with the length of his contract but I guess I forgot that he was still just 27....
I suppose now we have Lukaku his hoof ball aimlessly tactic might not be as bad as previous seasons. The guy plays with a lot of passion which tends to make him irrational on occasions. He's also had difficulties with injuries. Surprised with the length of the contract.

A lot of people seem to be skeptical of him. I'm not sure why, he's always been pretty solid at the back from what I've seen.
Smacks of the 5 year deal we gave Nani before flogging him a few months later. This just ups his price in the summer. He will be off.
I reckon a Bailly / Rojo partnership is our best CB pairing, so even if nobody else is, I'm happy to hear he's re-signed.
I am sure the next manager will be delighted to have a long term contract given to an average injury prone thuggish defender.

Nah, i'm like 80% sure we're in for an experienced CB. It's a glaring issue in our squad right now. It's obvious Jose doesn't rate Lindelof and Jones/Rojo/Bailly can't stay fit. There's also been a fair bit of rumours lately of us sniffing around CBs and personally I always go for the "no smoke without fire" saying.

Bizarre piece of business if you ask me. Hardly ever plays, and has been both really good and really bad (the majority of the time) when he has played. I think other clubs will be happy to know they can face Rojo in Utd's defence for the foreseeable future. Definitely a weak point to be exploited.
