I was at the game last night and every time he kicked the ball it either went to the opposition in dangerous areas or out of play. I can't remember seeing a goalkeeper have such a bad kicking game. Yes, he made some good saves, but many of them were routine.

Decent number two no doubt, but de Gea should be in goal from here on out. Seems harsh, but why dice with winning a trophy? Play your best players.

There is 1 thing clear - we have the best goalkeepers pair in the world. Even if DDG go to Real Madrid, I think Romero is capable to become No1 in our club.

Anyone who thinks he could be our number 1 if DDG decided to move on. Think about the level of opponent he faces before making that claim, he always plays against either lower league opposition or weak opponents in Europe.

Fantastic backup goalkeeper, no doubt. I wouldn't be happy spending a season with him as our number 1.

I feel uneasy at the prospect of him being number 1, but that's purely because no matter how solid he is, he is still a downgrade on De Gea, who is the best in the world.

He rarely puts a foot wrong, but he never plays against top opposition so hasn't had a chance to prove of he's a match winner like De Gea.

It's not really a slight on him. He's good, possibly the best #2 in world football, but going from De Gea to anyone is a significant step down.

He's good enough to be a #1 somewhere else, but for our sake, I hope we keep him.

Absolutely the best No.2 we've ever had. Always dependable when called upon. I'm surprised he hasn't asked for a move.

He had one poor game earlier this season. Can't remember who it was against. But it was probably his only poor game in the last two seasons.
Bristol city in our league cup defeat? That's the only loss he's played in too.

Looks like he sustained last season's EL form when he wasn't even remotely stressed against Ajax in the final. Not too easy when you don't play regular football but looks like both talent and experience from Argentina internationals works for his solid end product in United.

Made a fantastic save today. Up there with Big Dave.

Definitely the best second choice out there.

Lucky to have someone as good as him, who is satisfied with being second choice keeper. Could easily move to another top club and be first choice.

Great keeper!

Would start for almost all clubs outside of the top 3 in Germany, Spain, Italy. Great keeper and professional.

The save from Richarlison header was De Gea esque. One of the best backup keepers to have.

he's got to be the 4th or 5th best keeper in the league, Argentine #1 really can't believe someone like 'pool or Arsenal don't come in for him.

Feel sorry for Romero.

Great keeper and a great guy from all accounts.

Sad news for Romero, feel really sorry for the guy. He was no doubt looking forward to some game time at the WC after only starting a handful of games this season. Tough break, to say the least.

Gutted for him. Top professional and deserved to go and have a crack at the World Cup.

Part of me wanted him to go, have a good world cup and find a starting club. The man is too good to be our no.2 :nervous:.

Other part of me wanted him to stay as he's the best no.2 in the world!

He's had no luck this year. Big loss for Argentina too - I'm sure they'd have preferred to have him in goal than Cabellero.

Gutted for him. Only player who can play about 10 matches per season and yet be very rightfully regarded as one of the best in the league.

A group in trouble now are the Argies. They are basically Romero plus the attackers, as Rojo (unfortunately) and otamendi suddenly became part time sunday league levels player when putting on the argentina shirt.

Hope he get a speedy and clean recovery, such a likeable fella! Could have held a top team full time and yet always smile sitting for us! Class.
