British managers at top clubs seems to be a thing of the past. Out of the present six in the PL it would be fair to say the majority of them are struggling. However one cannot disregard the work Eddie Howe has done at Bournmouth and I really do hope they are in the PL even next season.
Prepared to get hammered for this thread but I’ll take the risk and put my views forward:
When assigning our current manager we opted for not so much ”the special one” but ”the obvious one.” After the failure of the previous 2 managers, we didn’t want to take any chances so we play safe and go for Jose. Of course not many would question the choice. Yes we were throwing abuse at him when he was at Chelsea, but the owners knew we’d adapt, and it wouldn’t be too long before we’d be hearing the famous Jose Mourinho chant at OT.
We’re sitting 2nd in the PL, through to the semis in the FA-Cup, yet there’s a lot of unrest in the camp. The football we’re dishing up is not rocking anyone’s boat and we’ve got players grossly underperforming.
Ask the owners what they expected when handing the job to Mourinho. It was never going to be gung ho attacking football. Mourinho himself would probably rate winning the CL with Inter as his biggest accomplishment and I believe he’s trying to implement the same philosophy at utd.
Answer is we were chicken in appointing him and what we are getting in return is chicken football! We’ve got the guns but we’re afraid to use them!
Back to Eddie Howe.
He’s lacks experience! Never had a team in Europé! Bournmouth isn’t Utd. He’s English! I know all that but would it be such a risk if he came to utd?
If it came to the point where we were looking to appoint yet another manager then I’m not convinced the likes of Zidane, Simeone, Anchelotti, Tuchel , etc wouldn’t be more of a risk than he would be.
