Can someone explain what the fuss about this guy is?
He'sa simply a really good coach. He plays great football and very is good at developing younger players. He also had success with both Mainz and Dortmund, which to me shows, that he can adapt very well to different circumstances (even Mainz played great football). He's one of the best tacticians around and his methods are extremely modern and refined. I don't think there are many better coaches out there. And as stupid as it sounds, the fact that he turned us down makes me want him even more. Just shows that he values his principles.
Personally I think we fecked up quite bad with this one. Which again just shows how terribly overrated our management is on here. Hoeneß' fall from grace is just unbelievable.

It's not good for him, and it's not good for us. We fecked up. Hoeness fecked up. Now we're stuck with Nagelsmann, or Kovac, or fecking Löw.

I want Hoeness out as soon as possible. I'm really angry right now.
I‘m extremely sceptical when it comes to him. He’s a weird character, doesn’t seem to be a good man manager and has nothing to show but one good half season with Dortmund. I‘m not angry at all. The board had reasons to be doubtful and to not go all in.

Hype then.
In all honesty: tht might very well be the case. He’s no Klopp for sure.

Nobody think Everton?

No way will Big Sam be there next year, he came in for a salvation job.

Everton had a poor season but given the money spent last season the ambition is there if not the knowledge at this moment.

I will hold you personally responsible when we end up 5th in Bundesliga with a Scholl-van Bommel Doppelspitze

I really like the style he plays. O.K he didn't win anything big at Dortmund but Bayern Munich were much stronger than in the Klopp years.

It's all about perception really. Luis Enrique won treble at Barca but is he really that genius a coach who can revolution clubs like Pep has done?

Enrique's results at Celta and Roma weren't much better than what Tuchel would produce in that situation.

Maybe Spurs although this all seems agreed so probably unlikely.

I was thinking more PSG coming in for Pochettino this summer. Who would Spurs go for in that scenario.

Ok then I think if this is true it makes Arsenal instantly better next season.
There are quite a few players Tuchel should like. Xhaka, Mkhitaryan, Özil, Koscielny, Kolasinac and Bellerin all strike me as very fitting players. I generally think that this Arsenal side has more talent than most people realize. Wenger is just not good enough to bring it out.

If he goes to Arsenal he will be reunited with Aubameyang. Did he even get to coach Mkhi at BvB?
Tuchel was the one who turned Aubameyang into a top CF, and the only one who ever got Mkhitaryan to perform at a top level. Mkhitaryan reportedly tied his extension at BVB with a guarantuee from the board that Tuchel would remain BVB coach.

So squad-wise, Arsenal would make more than sense. Since I really enjoy Tuchel's work, I'd also rather see him at Arsenal, at Chelsea that would be hard to stomach. I just don't see it happening. Wenger is certainly not planning on leaving, Mislintat is a sworn enemy. SportBild had reported Tuchel to be Marina Granovskaia's preferred Conte replacement already last year.

It's also known that Abramovich has been wanting for Chelsea to adapt a more progressive football for a while, he was hard after Pep when he went to us, after all, and then had to settle for Mourinho instead.

I think it has to be Chelsea because I do not think Arsenal would negotiate with another manager with Wenger still under contract. Everything we have seen from Arsenal lately would point to them waiting the last minute. Plus Arsenal just hired the guy Tuchel fell out with at Dortmund.

Yeah, sounds logical. Even though I would prefer him at Arsenal. Strikes me as the right kind of coach to start their renaissance.

Why is there still this weird myth that we wouldn’t pay as much? We are among the richest clubs in the world, in fact not far from United. I rather think he decided to leave Germany on principle. Which might be good for him.
I know you are - Ancelotti and Pep would both have been two of the highest paid managers in the world at the time but Tuchel hasn't proved himself to be one of the best managers yet so may not command those wages if he went to Bayern. Was just reaching for a reason as to why he'd go to a club that is likely not going to be in the Champions League.

If what @Cristiano Lell said is true and he's more likely to be at Chelsea, I can't see that lasting long. Both Mourinho and Conte have fallen out with the Chelsea board over transfers and Abramovich is trigger happy at the best of times.

We were worse when we reached 3 CL finals in 4 years than we were in the following years of unceremoniously exits in the semis? We got more efficient, yes. Better? Not necessarily. Tuchel shows promise, but he’s nowhere near deserving the worship he gets from some.

Most likely Arsenal. Very good move for both. Been studying his methods and tactics and I'm sure he will be successful with them.

Maybe Hoeness can yet against all odds get Jupp to do another season, and then we can get TUchel in 2019 after he's been sacked at Chelsea :wenger:

Half season? He finished 2nd to Bayern with the highest points total of a runner-up in Bundesliga history. Then he won the German Cup and got a QF incomplete for the bomb attack the same season. Look where Dortmund are now. I agree that he´s not the best man manager, but Watzke´s poor happy family-attitude also played a big part there.

I think his problem is that he demands too much from the players tactically, expecting them to switch between two or three systems flawlessly in-game. Since Mkhitaryan is believed to be highly intelligent I can see how they connected so well on a personal level, but most footballers are not that clever.

Rewriting history. I will give you that QF, but they were already in a bad position after the first match against a opponent which can’t be considered first class. Also, at that point a QF for Dortmund was pretty much expected. It’s not an outstanding archievemt. Yes, his points total was good, but it was mostly down to the first half of the season. There was a significant drop afterwards. I‘m not saying he’s bad, far from it, but a lot of people handle him like the second coming and he’s just not. I fail to see his advantages over someone like Nagelsmann for example. Or Pochettino.

Well 2015-16 was Tuchel's first season. Bayern under Pep won 15/16 Bundesliga games.

We've seen in the prem how difficult it is to keep up with a relentless league leader who barely drops a point before xmas.

Season 2010-11 Bayern dropped 22 points before the xmas break so opportunity was there for Dortmund to win the league whereas it wasn't when they were just dropping 5 or so points in first half of the season under Pep or Ancelotti.

Not a chance Arsenal are planning behind Wengers back whilst I’m sure Conte already knows he’s gone in the summer, if there’s any truth to the article it’s surely Chelsea.

They'll need firemen with cutting gear to remove Wenger from Arsenal.

Of course they were worse. Dortmund just sold their three best players, breaking a promise made to Tuchel. Hummels, Gündogan and Mkhitaryan were at the very heart of his team. Those were basically the three most important strategists on the field. Those were the guys mainly responsible for the build up. Hummels from the back, Gündogan in midfield and Mkhitaryan as a connector and playmaker on the wing. There was no way that they would be able to keep going on their previous level.

Bomb attack was before first leg although don't think they would've been defensively secure enough to take out Monaco anyway.

Big problem at Dortmund is they never seem overly concerned about signing decent defenders, don't know if that was Tuchel or the sporting directors fault.

Thinking of that Monaco game and Sokratis hopelessly passing the ball straight to Mbappe on the halfway line. That right there was why Dortmund had no chance of winning the CL.

I would honestly prefer to simply ignore everything after the attack on their bus. It strikes as me cruel and unfair, to formulate any sort of criticism towards them, after what had just happened. The players were in no shape to play. Still baffles me that they actually went ahead and played. Shameful decision by the UEFA.
