The 20 minutes where Ferguson's 2 decade's of dominance started.

April 1993. I remember watching this and it seemed as special then as it does watching it back now. We just murdered a very good Norwich side here. Cantona pulling the strings, Ince in the middle charging forward and the two wingers slaughtering the fullbacks.

Norwich also showing there why people don't play with offside tactics anymore. When the pace is high it's way too risky.

Remember it well, was only a year since we capitulated and let Leeds win the title, so this and the memorable 'Brucie double' against Sheff Weds were the first real signs that we weren't going to make the same mistakes again.

Norwich had a very good team back then, so blowing them away like that was a real statement. We were so exciting to watch. Sigh.

The sheer pace and dominance is quiet easily visible. Ferguson announced himself to the world and then went on to become the best manager in the world. Take a bow Sir!

That second goal and the pace, movement in the team was so good.

That's some proper football right there. Forward runs!

Man, I loved that side. Pace & power, hunted and pressed in packs, broke at blistering pace. Could mix it if needed, really had everything.

We played shit football under SAF
To read some posts on here recently, you'd think this was actually the case more often than not.

Yup, belittling a club legend like SAF to defend mourinho without a hint of irony.
I get the feeling these people might have missed the 1990s.

Yes brilliant team let down by the Eufa rule. I think we could have won the European Cup a couple of times early to mid 90s. Fergie had to break the team up every time we played as you could only play 3 foreigners

This only really affected us in 94/95. We definitely would have performed better that season without the rule and would have had a shot of going quite far, but still hard to see us getting past Barca, Milan and Ajax. Our main problem was that English football in general had been left behind a bit by the five year ban, and we were a bit tactically naive as a result and lacked the big European night experience (hence we got knocked out by a solid Galatasaray in 93/94 despite no foreigners rule that year).

I was thinking the same thing. They were so high up the pitch, no wonder we were smashing them! The speed of Kanchelskis, proper fast he was.

Was it only one year? Thought it was longer. Still would have liked us to have been able to play our first team though.

As much as I loved that side, we were miles behind the best teams in Europe at that point because of the Heysel ban. Football had moved on and it took us a few years to catch up so, with or without our full team we wouldn't have been good enough to win the Champions League.

Norwich where on a title run too if I remember correctly. That game effectively ended it.

Yeah - Villa, Norwich and United were all fairly close in the top 3 and it was just waiting for one of them to put a run together. Norwich had beaten the likes of Inter and Bayern in the UEFA Cup around then (if I remember right) so had a genuinely good side.

There was a genuine feeling of dread going into the game as they were in good form and the scars from the previous year were pretty fresh. Norwich just looked utterly shell-shocked by what was happening to them though. Loved the fact that Fergie's teams developed the habit of coming out all-guns blazing when it really mattered.

Miss those days so much. Every goal in that game, the goal scorer had another couple of options to him rather than shooting. We barely ever see an attacking overload like that these days.

One of the reasons I'm hoping we'll be in a position to relegate West Ham this season.

Why are every feel good threads is always about the past? Are we becoming Liverpool already?

Second goal is class but love the run from Ince for the 3rd, his pace and power were amazing and then to square it for Cantona was also class - having got into that position you couldn’t have blamed him for shooting

LVG wouldn't have approved of all those "risky" one touch passes of the ball, going forward and scoring, instead of playing safe, controlling possession, by passing the ball sideways and backwards.

Was that the same year with the commentary "he's in, he's scored, it's the game over now!" when Cantona scored against Villa?

Abso-fecking-lutely. My hatred of West Ham stems directly from '92 and '95. I'd take immense pleasure in relegating them (and Moyes!) this year.

I'd love them to think they're safe and then score on 92 minutes or something. The way they'd mentally collapse after believing they were out of it. It'd be better than tonking them 5-0.

Another negative and irrelevant post

Might be wrong but I think that was the following year when we beat them 2-0 at their place early in the season. Don't think we beat them in 92/93. From what I remember we drew 1-1 at ours and not sure what happened at their place that year. Think it might've been pre-Cantona. Maybe.

Think it was another draw at Villa Park, seem to remember Staunton scoring an absolute pile-driver past Schmeichel.
