I was hoping some kids get a run out at home to West Brom.

Well, Mendy returns after his injury, but no sight of Nmecha, Brahim or Foden, so I'm guessing they've travelled with the first squad.

Lack of Gomes - ?bench for Saturday or is it just injury?

1-1

Their goal featured poor defending from, in turn, O'Conner, Riley, Williams and finally, Borthwick-Jackson.

Our goal, a header by an unmarked Boonen from a Gribbin free-kick, was also terrible defending. No idea what the City defence was doing.

Huge chance for Boonen, through on goal in the 2nd half, hit the keeper with a tame finish. Dearnley also through but at an angle, shot narrowly wide.

Chong with a shot from a tight angle that was saved. United didn't dominate the play but still created the best chances in the 2nd half, assisted by a City defence that seemed utterly clueless. First half City on top; one attempt curled narrowly wide from just outside the box, with O'Hara beaten.

Ro-Shaun Williams fortunate not to concede a penalty for a careless challenge. Late on a cross-field pass from him out of play with no-one within 20 yards. Earlier, a saving tackle/challenge/block from him having got us in trouble with a poor pass intercepted by a City player.

Overall, that was depressing viewing. City had a few players with technical skills but as a team they weren't that good either.

Several of our team will have to work hard just to have careers as professional footballers. Finding clubs willing to take them on loan might be difficult.

Agree it was far from vintage tonight but I thought we did ok in patches 2nd half especially that 10 minute spell after the break where we should have gone ahead. On a side note my youngest is currently working on a song for Chong. The lads got quite a following amongst the kids which was nice to hear.

Chongs legs swiped out and lands really hard. Bringing stretcher out.

Thankfully back on his feet. Hopefully just winded.
Happened right in front of us that. Let out a huge scream on landing but everyone played on regardless even though he was down for ages. Was limping a bit towards the end of the first half also but credit to him he never stopped trying all night I think we've got a real talent in this kid.
