We don't have to replace him, we bought Sanchez in Jan without him really replacing anyone, just distribute his mins between Martial and Ligard. Again, you never have to replace squad players.
But you do when you have a player that has made 31 appearances out of 34 so he is clearly more than just a squad player. What do we do if Lukaku gets injured, Rashford is his first replacement.

Need to improve his decision making. Very inconsistent, some times it's brilliant as his Liverpool goals and some are like today, but that's normal for his age I believe.

Should have made the keeper work at a minimum with his break late on
Still love him

Should have done better with his mano-a-mano. It’s that final 5% that is missing, if he makes the final step up, he will be undroppable.

That booking was bullshit, he didfn't appeal for a freekick, he simply lost his footing when he landed from jumping Sanchez tackle. He was unlucky not to get a goal as well, he did everything right on that counter but Dier made a great tackle.

Loved that. :D
Amazing that he's only 20 years of age. Sometimes we forget this and expect him to perform to the level of an accomplished striker. He has much untapped potential yet to be displayed. Can't wait to see him become a world class player in the coming years as I'm sure he will.

If it wasn't for that shite ball from Lukaku he would've scored. Could still have done better but he seems the kind of person that will learn from it.

Nah that was as good a chance as your gonna get, Rashford just choked when in a 1v1. That's one thing he really needs to improve on and has been a big weakness for him the last 2 seasons and why i don't trust him as a number 9.

I don't get why Mourinho doesn't use him more from the bench for Lukaku when we have games wrapped up, he really just needs to get more minutes higher up the pitch getting in to good positions and working on his end product and decision making.

Pretty sure Kane hadn’t scored for Spurs in the league yet as his age. He’s super young.

. There's no way you can blame Lukaku (and I'd be the first to) for that chance. Awful decision making from Rashford. He should have just hit it instead of faffing about with it.

I'm not just blaming him. I said Rashford should have done better. But he'd have been clean through if it wasn't for the poorly weighted ball and wouldn't have had a defender to deal with. Simply put, I think he would've scored.

Danny Murphy said on commentary for Rashford's 1-on-1 that "we all thought he would score there"...

I didn't.

You can't forget his youthful age and the occasional moment of excellence (i.e. vs Liverpool), but his composure, decision making and finishing are quite poor. This is something which needs to improve for him to be a regular starter for United.

I'm of the belief that a season on-loan at another Premier League club would do him the world of good.

He said himself that he enjoys situations where he doesn't think about shooting and cited his favourite goal as the one vs West Ham in his debut season. His composure and intelligence will improve with age.

Excellent pace, good trickery (getting better as he gets more comfortable at this level), good dribbling ability(getting better as he gets more comfortable at this level), a good eye for goal (getting better as he gets more comfortable at this level but still erratic at this stage), A good eye for a pass (see some of his assists earlier this season especially the curled ball for Kane's goal for England), very good movement off the ball.

Just here to give a bit of love to Marcus. 20 years old, one of the brightest prospects in English football and he is a red. Any negativity from the press or fans on this guy is completely irrelevant!

He's more of an instinctive finisher at present, when he's 1 v 1 he tends to miss or fluff his lines but when it's a snap shot or after a good dribble when he's in full flow he seems to finish them harder chances. Crazy to think he's not rated by some on here, he's only 20 but has already shown he can contribute to us and will only get better.

Yeh, he’s like Sterling in that regards. Give them too much time to think about it and they’ll miss.

Really wish he would get more minutes up top to try and get into these positions in game. No idea why Jose rarely subs Lukaku even in games we have won.

I just hope this will end people screaming for him starting up front. He is pretty much useless there. Also really needs to bulk up

When was his last good game as a striker? His hold-up play is nonexistent at times. Should've moved Sanchez there as time went on.

I've been saying it very early on, but he's not a lone striker. Probably best in a front 2, but as a lone man, he's just a poacher and doesn't really offer much. Was on for pretty much the entire 2nd half and just wasn't the situation for him to really do anything, just like he didn't really have an impact against Bournemouth. Just not suited to it. When we have both Martial and Rashford on, either play them together, or put Martial through the middle. He's much better at holding the ball up and the little link up that's needed as a lone striker. Or put Sanchez through the middle.

Was that nearly his third fluke goal of the season? I remember one or two coming off the back of his head from fortunate ricochets or something.

Love the blame on him :smirk:

Fellaini was the striker today, Rashford isn't a striker for Jose. There is a reason that Jose has deployed him at LW - it's not through coincidence; Jose cannot utilise strikers like that.

We have core tactics as seen by how we played since fellaini got on - where our primary way of playing is through strength and aerial presence.

Rashford & Martial won't be very good strikers under Jose - unless their starts to be partnerships.

Rashford & Martial need the ball on the floor.

Give Jose Messi & he would be played on the wing because Jose does not know how to utilize forwards who need the ball on the floor
