In light of the latest Marvel movie, it's about time this gets discussed. Who is the most powerful Avenger in the Marvel universe and why?

Beware to have Infinity war spoilers in spoiler brackets when reasoning.

I don't know if she's the most powerful, but Scarlet Witch can do some incredible stuff and seems quite over powered at times.

Not sure if this deserves a separate thread, but it's eithwe Thor or Scarlet witch.

I'd back Captain America always though.

Outside of the mcu, Scarlet witch, Dr. Strange, Hulk, Thor & Captain Marvel.

Currently in MCU:
Thor & Dr. Strange. Hulk was too scared to go up against Thanos again & Scarlett Witch still doesn't have near control of her actual powers. Still waiting for Adam Warlock after his egg-cameo in gotg2.
Captain Marvel will likely join Thor & strange as the heavy-weights with Scaett gaining her place and Hulk returning from being a scared-cat.

Depends on what you’re rating. Dr Strange and Scarlett witch have immense skills but can’t take a punch where as the Hulk has a limitless end of power, and is near enough invincible,

SW in comics can literally wish away her enemies, so yeah, she’s the most OP canon wise.

In the MCU, probably Strange with Time gem on, otherwise Hulk/Thor.

Thor easily. After him, I would say Hulk, Scarlett Witch and Strange.

Talking only about the movies, no idea about comics.

It should be Thor (in the movies) but he never seems that much more powerful than the others

Thor wasnt even able to beat the shit out of Iron Man and Cap in the first Avengers, that alone tells you how useless trying to rank MCU characters is.

Yeah I rewatched the first avengers a couple weeks ago and that first scene of Thor vs Ironman was quite laughable tbh

Obviously Thor wasn’t going full power mode on Stark, but yeah....

In Ragnarok he defeated Hulk, and in the third Avenger,

he was the only character who actually kind of managed to do some damage to Thanos.

Thor has been getting more and more powerful with each movie though it seems. It's him or Dr Strange for me, although Iron Man's constant upgrades to his suit keeps him right up there.

Agreed about Thor. Possibly him, Dr Strange, Hulk or Scarlett witch (at full power maybe) from the ones we’ve seen on screen.

I’m not sure iron man should be anywhere up there tbh, even if his suit was carrying nukes, they’d probably still be unable to destroy hulk/Thor/some of the other avengers.

Was thinking the same. He's developed a lot since we first saw him. Definitely one of the strongest.

Yep, Iron Man is not in the top tier with the other four. Probably the strongest of the remaining Avengers though.

Vision has been very disappointing. He was supposed to be so strong, but he has done feck all. Even the likes of Black Widow have shown more.

Hawkeye obviously.

Pointless fecking character. They have a god, a giant green mutant berserker, a rich guy in an all powerfull robot suit and some dude who is pretty good with a bow..

I read about this out of interest once (yes I was bored and had probably just watched X-Men or something) and I came to the conclusion that the writers always find loopholes by which somebody can be defeated.

The common opinion was that it was some kid from the comic books that could basically do anything with his mind. But he might not be Marvel.

Franklin Richards I think is who you are meaning. He’s the son of Sue Storm and Reece Franklin. Fantastic 4. He supposedly is the most powerful mutant ever and on par with the gods within the Marvel universe. He can create his own universes also. I to looked in to this one day when I was bored
