Surely that can’t be right? Look at the collosal difference in monetary amounts.

Seems like a Netflix for sport, similar to DAZN. I imagine these services will grow and compete with the established broadcasters in the UK, I hope that we don't see several dozen services splitting the rights to show football matches.

I don't think the interest/market is really there for it. The majority of Barcelona/Madrid games are streamed on Bet365 every week.

Apart from the Classico, can't say I ever sit down to watch a full La Liga match.

Been trying to find viewing figures out of curiosity but it's surprisingly hard to do. There's something called BARB that has figures but they don't give everything out unless you're a member/involved in the industry from what I can see. Some bloke on a forum who says figures are from there reckons Real v Barca can get 700k, some other games involving one of them get 100k and for most matches in general it's between 20-75k.

If true more people watch the Championship than La Liga outside of that Real v Barca fixture by a considerable margin.

These are the Scottish football viewing figures, and every Rangers and Celtic match would be competitive with or beat the non El Classico Barca and Real fixtures. Got them from this blog. Less SPL games are shown, but they're not exactly coining it in - £15m a year. I'm not in the industry but I'd imagine it makes a difference to advertisers whether fans of the actual teams playing are watching or casual observers. It's probably easier to sell something to a Hearts fan watching a Hearts game than a Everton fan watching Villareal vs Getafe, more emotional investment.

Premier League ratings were down the other year, if they still are then I imagine there's a general slump across all leagues. I'd guess a large chunk of that will/would have been Kodi and other streams.

I don't think NBA is that popular here is it? It's usually Football Rugby and Cricket which dominate. I would even put F1 and boxing ahead of NBA.

A few years ago you got the premier league, champions league, la liga all with Sky.

Now the price has gone up 30%+ and you only get the premier league.

Good to see the UK broadcasting market working in favour of consumers....

The football rights bubble has already started to burst and it's all down hill from here imo.

They were refusing to pay £10m a year for the ATP rights, which they lost to Amazon also. A lot of programming will be lost in 2018. But the prices will increase.

How the hell am I supposed to watch La Liga now? Sky showed every game. If City or Liverpool were on it gave me something else to watch. Problem they have is once Ronaldo and Messi are gone the product might not be as attractive. There are some good players, but not on the level of those two.

If they don't watch it will bite Sky on the bum, no F.A. Cup, no CL and now no La Liga, yet as you say they keep putting the prices up. Something has to give. I would not be paying the full sports package, only the PL side as I don't watch F1 or rugby or cricket. I like football. Mainly I like the PL and La Liga.

Eleven sports- in Poland they have Italian Serie A, French League, Spanish league, FA Cup, EPL Cup, F1 racing and plenty of more. and I'm pretty sure they will have EPL when the current deal expires.
Their offer is really attractive- with my package i pay something like 4 pounds to watch all Eleven Sport channels. Champions League and EPL costs me around 10 punds with Canal +.

Sky will probably push the price up, like they did when they lost the Champions League, as a makeweight for those who will finally bin Sky Sports for offering less and less football in the last few years.

And more sports coverage will be spread across more platforms, making it an unjustifiable expense for the consumer.

I always thought sky had a monopoly in the market since ITV and BBC focus more on cup and international matches. Is BT Sport as big as sky in the UK now ?

Quick note: Does anyone likes the new sky logo ? The concept of ''sky football'' ''sky F1'' ''Sky boxing'' etc is very good but the logo... they should get back to the old one they used when they had sky1 to sky5.

It's an absolute joke, in America and Canada it cost $49.99 for 250 Premier League matches for the 2017-18 season, which includes all of the 3pm KO's.

It's a topic for another thread (I can't seem to make a new one) but I think its about time Saturday's 3pm KO matches are shown on TV. The argument that it would stop fans attending matches just doesn't wash with me in this current day and age, especially for clubs like united who would fill the stadium regardless.

Fans are literally being made to pay through the nose and the costs keep on rising whilst we get less and less football for our money and more sh*te like 'the Debate' show or whatever it is called with its hyperbolic debate topics. We are literally paying Craig Bellamy's wages to sit there and discuss football at the expense of watching live matches.

Back to my original point, it is a joke how much spectators get in the America's for a fraction of the cost, something needs to change.

EDIT: NBC cable subscribers get every single live premier league game, whereas subscribers to both Sky Sports and BT Sports get just over half the amount of games.

I am paying £240 a year for Sky Sports at a reduced rate for 3 years, plus £3.50 a month for 12 months for MUTV and £96 a year for BT. I don't have HD so my package isn't as bad as most on here. That's £378 a year.
What do they get for that?

I know with the BT package with Sky Sports added, this is what a family member has, they only get Main Event, so unless the football is on there they don't get it, which would put most of the La Liga games out of the picture.

With SKY it's been less and less matches for more and more £s for quite a few years now.

And then they wonder why more and more people are buying KODI systems.

I haven't bought one, but I am able to watch about 100 subscription Sports Channels for a fraction of what SKY charge.

These distribution rights are just crazy. When I lived in London in 2011, I had less games on offer than I would back in Norway. When I came back home, they also started to take away games on Saturday at 15:00. In the past, you could toggle between three games on Saturdays at 15 - but it was changed as English pubs started to show matches on foreign networks.

Give me one single argument for doing such a thing, I don’t understand it. Ok, smaller clubs might have less people at the games if the game is on TV, but what if let’s say United and Arsenal both play at home at three? Makes absolutely no sense. Wouldn’t be surprised if the decisions are made by people older than my dad.
