Can tell he's a Liverpool fan by his math skills,

Fair play to Wimbledon players and fans can't have been easy to go through all of that

My fondest memory of Wimbledon is when they let in that Beckham goal from the halfway line in 1996, but this is pretty cool. As far as I remember, Wimbledon relocated to Milton Keynes, despite uproar from the fans. Most the fans switched their allegiance to the newly formed AFC Wimbledon, so I think it's pretty cool that they have been able to fly up the leagues to overtake MK Dons. Good on them.

Half of my family are Wimbledon fans. After the initial devastating events, they've loved the past 10 years.

They absolutely loathe MK Dons and their fans though.

Actually it is the first time Wimbledon have been above them for 12 years, as there was no such team as franchise before Wimbledon folded. Sorry I mean taken over in one of the most disgraceful acts in FA history. Hopefully, Wimbledon will move forward & upward & the imposters will disappear into oblivion.

Same. Well, they're my adopted local team. It's got a great atmosphere and a real community feel. Lots of crap football, if we're being honest, but they played some lovely stuff today.

Randomly met the commercial director of AFC Wimbledon the other day. Told him that my friend, who is a massive fan, broke his leg that day and he ended up giving me his card and telling my friend to get in touch.

AFC Wimbledon gave enormous help to FC United when they set up and I will always be appreciate them for that.
One group of shafted fans were very willing to help another, every credit.

Nope, Sutton. Wimbledon itself is a great area, too expensive for me though!
I know Sutton well; used to work there. I live in Wimbledon, about a 10 minute walk to Plough Lane. I'm really hoping they get the green light to move back there! I see a couple of AFC games a month but I would get a season ticket if they move.

More importantly, the plan to get their new ground seems to finally be moving forward

Feel a bit bad for the people involved with the dog track it will replace though

AFC confirmed safe and MK Dons confirmed relegated.

They'll be one division above them now.
Got a draw away at Wigan the other week too. I'm keen to see them do well. Lovely club IMV.

My second team and I’m absolutely delighted. It would have been pretty terrible for Wimbledon to get relegated with the new stadium in the works. The fact they’re safe AND Milton Keynes have gone down is incredibly satisfying.

Surely there aren’t any original Wimbledon fans supporting MK Dons?

I’m a bit confused. Who adopts Wimbledon’s history? So which of the two teams have the past trophies in their trophy room? Are the likes of Vinnie Jones Wimbledon legends or MK Dons legends?

Mk Dons are the old Wimbledon, disgraceful and unfair that they are but AFC Wimbledon are a new club, MK Dons are the old but founded in 04. Technically nobody has it.
It would be like FC United trying to claim Man Uniteds history if it went the other way.

Feel sorry for the Wimbledon/AFCW fans, had their team stolen and taken away from them almost like an American franchise.

If United were moved to Milton Keynes and the old fanbase started a new club, that fanbase would of course claim their own history. Which is the same with AFC fans.

Half of my family are life long Wimbledon fans. They are no doubt whatsoever that they won the FA Cup in 1988.

They are delighted that MK Dons (or the "Franchise" as they call them) are getting relegated.

I'm not sure if any MK Dons fans claim the 1988 FA cup, most want to look forwards and ignore the way their club was formed.

I wonder if they would sell out Selhurt Park now...
They're building a new ground at the Plough lane site which will be about right for their fanbase size, think it will be 12k capacity.

I was in a pub in Wigan last Saturday when Latics hosted Wimbledon. The fans seem decent and I'm glad they've got themselves above the fakes.

The supporters of AFC Wimbledon believe that our club is a continuation of the spirit which formed Wimbledon Old Centrals in 1889 and kept Wimbledon Football Club alive until May 2002.

We consider that a football club is not simply the legal entity which controls it, but that it is the community formed by the fans and players working towards a common goal. We therefore reproduce the honours won by what we believe was, and will always be, 'our' club, in our community.

It will all just be a footnote in the future of both clubs.

"This is AFC Wimbeldon's third FA Cup win since they were reformed in 2002, although they formed out of FC Wimbledon who won the FA Cup in 1998, so they claim four four FA Cups overall"

Form is temporary, bans are permanent.
MK Dons relegated to League Two whilst Wimbledon are safe. Wow. They should never have relocated to Milton Keynes in the first place. A club with such a long history, just gone. I can't even imagine what the fans must have felt.

Congrats to AFC for rising up with tiers over the years whilst MK have stagnated and are now going down.

First of all, congratulations to all Wimbledon fans.

As I write part time for one croatian football publication, most of the time about english football, my editor suggested that Wimbledon and this whole story could be next topic.

So, if you have some good links and articles to help me out I will really appreciate it.

Next time in Manchester beers on me!
