Has to go in the Summer. His injury record is appalling.

How long is left on his contract? Think we'd struggle to find a buyer.

Looked desperately short of technical ability.
He’s awkward as feck sometimes isn’t he?

10 years ago Wes Brown was part of the United team as a powerful rightback - I’d like to see Jones reverted back there.

Like most of our defenders, he is very limited. There was a moment during the match where if he had a bit more finesse about him he could've gone past his man but decided to take the easy/lazy option of lightly tapping it out for a throw in. I thought all of the defence was pretty solid to be fair.

I don't think passing the ball out of play in those scenarios is a bad thing. It's the safest choice and often gives the team time to restructure themselves. It generally doesn't happen as much in games these days, but it can be an unnecessary risk to always try the hard option for a defender, a great defender can do both. That being said, Jones is not great.

I get really annoyed when our defenders do this. Really gets on my nerves. Instead of showing a bit of composure and finesse and manoeveuring themselves out of tight situations they always take that lazy option of kicking out long or conceding cheap throws ins/ccorners. Serious lack of technical ability hurting the team. It's not even difficult to open up your body and pass in between the lines but they can't even do that. Our defenders never seek to take strikers out of the game. Instead the likes of Smalling and Jones prefer to grapple/tussle and go to war. It's not completely necessary. The defenders are solid for the most part but clueless in building from the back.

This guy is going to the World Cup whilst his partner who made numerous decisive challenges to stop Hazard isn’t.

He is a liability on the pitch and with his fitness and has to go. I actually dislike him.

When you play him and Smalling together you have 2 defenders on the pitch who always have a mistake or 2 in them each game.

Feck this gormless prick.

Sign of the standards when someone like him can become something of a cult figure because he makes faces and falls over.

He's a disgrace to the United shirt.

Exposed by a top class player doing what hes best at. I think that can happen to any CB in the world on a bad day but at the same time, Phil Jones isnt a top CB. It was Jones' mistake and it did cost us.

It was as clear as day he'll tackle Hazard right at the end and would result in a penalty. Everyone fecking knew it was inevitable.

Sir Alex should be embarrassed by even comparing him to Duncan Edwards!

He fecked us over against Spurs as well. Won’t bat en eyelid if he left tomorrow. Not good enough and not reliable.

Look at that back four.

Young, Smalling, Jones and Valencia.

Could you imagine trying to sell that back four as reasonable to start a cup final with to any manager of any of the other top European sides?

Hope he never plays for us again TBH. He offers nothing our other defenders don't already, he's absolutely brainless and costs us with so many mistakes.

Feck off Phil.

How do we spend over £60m on central defenders and still end up with him and Smalling starting a cup final? He's a squad player at best at this level now, he's never going to fulfil the potential. The second Hazard got past him you knew full well what was coming.

Fergie had his favorites. I remember he said the United team would be built around Evans one day. I couldn't believe what I was reading!

Smalling and him are an accident waiting to happen. It might not be today's game or the next but you know that they will feck up big time.

This. No point being good defenders 80-90% of the time when you cost your team in cup finals or pivotal league games with the mistakes you will inevitably make.

Can we just sack him?

Jones going to WC says it all.

Better for all involved that he moves on. I can’t see us win the league with him as a starter.

Big mistake cost us. He didn’t need to make the tackle, and he’s so clumsy he got it totally wrong.

Bit of an overboard reaction. Hazard would have probably scored anyway. He tried to stop it and got it wrong. Oh well, moving on.

He isn't the reason we lost. That was a lack of creativity and penetration up front.

That should be that, if he survives this summer Mourinho is as brainless as Jones. Actually feck them both, cost us the final
