I am saying this for weeks now. He is man down in 433. All that running, playing short passes over and over mean nothing when you are one of the attackers. With him in squad we depend on sanchez and lukaku only in attack.
I don't understand mourinho here. You have 3 midfielders who dictate game. You have 2 full backs who provide (solid) support. You have sanchez who plays basically wide playmaker. So instead playing with at least one player who can dribble and create something one on one like martial and rashford can do, we play with lingard. Player without flair and skill to create something on his own.
I admit, he was great as no10 but on this position, especially against big teams, he is useless. And when i see that because of that philosophy our two wonderkids are sitting on the bench and one of them is close to exit, my blood pressure goes high.

Form is temporary , shite is permanent. Too weak , too slow , too casual and too inaccurate. Never been a fan of him since he is lacking so many things as footballer.

I'm well aware that he didn't start tonight and a lot of other players have more to answer for, but Lingard shouldn't be excused for his cameo appearance.

Missed a sitter inside the box which looked harder to miss the target. There was a late challenge, but still inexcusable to miss so badly.

That outside the foot pass he tried that went out for a throw in made me laugh so hard. Fecking summed up half of this team, bunch of wanna be prima donnas that think they are better than they really are.

TBF because he didn’t start there were worse performers but that miss and that pass. He’d be one on the list to get shut of for me. Not that it’s likely as no other club would pay him what he’s earning at Utd. We’d literally have to give him away and offer to subsidise his earnings.

Let's just ignore that we played a damned sight better when he came on.
I think some people would be surprised at his value, if he were to come onto the market.
He's been keeping some big names out of the team, under Mourinho, who is regarded as a ruthless coach.

I doubt if we will find out though.

Looked better when he was put on, possibly should've come on sooner. Hope he starts tonight.

Better than last performances today. The problem was he had no one to link with upfront due to Sanchez dropping as deep.

Think with him and Sanchez in the side we lack any sort of acceleration in behind.

Slows EVERY attack down. Had a couple of shots that had we actually been playing, we would have been furious for not playing another player in, as it happens his shots were some of the highlights of the game!

He's the only player that wants to speed our play up...

Kinda the same problem that we had with Sanchez except he was piss poor compared to Sanchez. Both of them dropping deep and neither seemed to register that that was a problem.

Most of his shots looked a lot better in real time than they did on the replay; too often they were straight at the keeper.

The formation really didn't help. No-one upfront to pass to, or to create space for a no 10.

Much like Sanchez he looked like he was doing more than he actually was becuase he runs around a lot, the shots he had were easy for the keeper.

How he’s starting the final given what he has contributed over the last 3 months is beyond me, especially when we have much better attacking options on the bench.
Another nothing display by him. That two month period is over and back to reality.
Two months? It wasn’t that long... more like 3 weeks or a month at most. Having him as an attacking player is everything that is wrong in the final third.

He's a player that plays in between the lines. Brilliant at finding the space behind the opposition midfielders, but we haven't got the midfielders in deep positions to find him.

Pogba dropped deep and found him twice. One of those occasions led to Rashford having a chance.

Set up one of the only real chances we had in the match, Lingard wasn't the problem today.

And to think we need to accommodate him as no. 10, just because "oh, he's playing out of position. That's why he's so shit. If only he's our no. 10".

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
Lingard actually started to get involved for the last 5 or 10 minutes before being taken off, and made some nice plays to help us get on the front foot. Because of that I wish it had been Sanchez who was taken off instead, as he did pretty much the exact opposite (started well for the first 10 minutes then got worse as the match wore on).

You will never challenge for any with him as a starter.
No slight on him.
He's the Tom Cleverley of wingers.

His form has nose dived since he that great run. Honestly forgot he was even playing during the second half, he was nowhere to be seen, just surprised it took so long to take him off.

He's a great squad player, but he is not being used as a one and that's the issue.

He's back to what he was earlier. It was just a purple patch then. Must return to be a last 5 minutes sub player at best.

Was surprised he came off, should have been Sanchez. At least he moves and creates space, tries to get in behind a bit which is more than any single one of our other players.

Form has nosedived. Hopefully a squad player next season rather than a starter.

He was not the main problem today, but one of them actually. Honeymoon period is long time over and he's been very average for some time now, starting him in the final was a stupid decision. Squad player at best, and that is that, nothing bad with that either. It's the manager's mistake and his responsibility because he is not able to fit his best players in the starting 11.

It was 50 minutes of nothing then 10 minutes of effective play, hard decision for Mourinho that didn't pay off. We were all calling for him to come off after the first half so Mourinho can't really be blamed.

Just too quiet far too often. On his best days he's good enough to start but they dont come around often enough and we tend to have to adjust the team for him to have that good day because it never comes from the wing, only centrally behind the striker

I thought he played well. Linked up play well, some much needed quick passes, great movement and created a chance.
