This game should count as a draw.

Whatever the tie break is, let’s do it.

Yes, it is a bad draw for both teams. Shame

Regarding Boniek, that's the point of his role either for club or country. He could play across the line in front 4 and had a roaming role of sorts. Even in that WC and here, he would pop up at left, center or up front. Given Mane will own the right flank, he would avoid that. It suits this formation since I don't have a proper AM and only one striker up front. Shame @antohan is not around now days otherwise he could wax lyrical about Boniek much better than me.
@Arbitrium I wrote a post some years ago about how Boniek had a similar style as Thomas Müller in terms of searching for and finding space... but with blistering pace on top.

Genius player. Ever since then I hadn't seen anyone with such a fantastic brain and movement off the ball and suddenly everyone was full of praise for Müller as if he had invented some new way of playing football.

Just watch his hat trick vs Belgium (the greatest Belgian side ever, runners up in previous Euro) and tell me he is a striker, or a winger. Nope, he is a free roaming forward that tears defences apart.

Good thing the poll closed. In a tight game having a Gay Goycochea in nets would have justified voting Arbitrium.

Thought it was a subtle reference to the pink in his Italia '90 goalie shirt.

I'm not sure that Pele's 1970 tournament was better than Garrincha's 1962 to be fair.
Yeah, sorry Moby but I would agree with that. Difference being Garrincha is a nightmare to fit into a team, whereas Pele brings the team together.

Top World Cup tournaments for me are Diego 1986, Garrincha 1962 and Cruyff 1974.

Something I weigh very highly over individual brilliance. I understand Garrincha's brilliance is more obvious to the eye but Pele's impact on what made it the greatest national team that ever player is simply irreplaceable.

Look at the voters for crappy. It stinks of corruption in here
There's a few names in there that don't generally vote in these things to be fair. Have you been arguing elsewhere in the forum or something?

For the record my fellow Three Stooges and I haven't even mentioned you by name in our PM convo, preferring instead to refer to you as 'that cnut' not really, the WC performances of your respective teams seem broadly similar to me but I like the balance of Crappy's team a shade better and think he's maximised Didi/Garrincha/Kocsis really well
Well at least you wont have @Cal? Voting against you every match because he is sad over his tag

I agree on the difference in what they bring to the table and would argue both teams have the right player. Crappy needs that individual brilliance while if he had Pelé I'm not sure he would be as well equipped to make a difference as he is in Arbutrium's frontline.

Stick Hagi and a #10 together and you wonder if it would work... but not if it's Pelé.

It would have been nice to have crappy around for the game as I’m sure he might have went into more detail on Kocsis.

Also still not sure he had his midfield set up right, I would have had them the same way Barca used Iniesta, Xavi and busquets.

@Edgar Allan Pillow my only contention is the fact we had a 25 hour game, it was 21-21 after 24 hours.
Crappy was very transparent about the reason he extended it and if you had concerns you should have raised it at start of game once the announcement was made. Nobody (not even crappy) can predict how it would turn over at the end and it'd not be fair to say he somehow saw it as an advantage at start of the poll.

Just read this again and see no reason to overturn the official vote results. Smilies notwithstanding, the conspiracy theories from Arbitrium are worthy of MJJ and equally ridiculous.

Since crappy has forfeited, I guess @Arbitrium goes through to next round
I did not have any conspiracy theories, there were legitimate concerns regarding the voting pattern.

I think it was a fair assumption to make that when I replied so quick it’s just a regular 24 hour game

I just read the first page back. Didn't really see you objecting. Did I miss something? If you had objected, you would be in the right. But the point still stands...nobody can predict what will be the status 24+ hours after and there is no advantage to either party irrespective. Just the way the dominoes fall, I suppose.

But anyway moot point now.

Yeah, but his forfeit comment also came at 11:53, 6 minutes before when the deadline for votes should have been (it was 21-21 at the time) so I think all things considered, a draw is fair and had crappy been able to pick quicker than me, he’d go through and there would be no complaints.

His forfeit was due to corruption comments et al. Nothing to do with poll timings. Maybe you are not aware but we've had meltdowns over this before and he didn't really care enough to play anymore post seeing those comments. Perhaps he misread the smilies...perhaps not. But he's made his call. Let's move on.

All the best way forward.
