I thought there'd be a better story, the combat is very slow, too much of a grind.
The combat is only slow if you pick the bigger weapons. If you want a faster paced style try dual blades, insect glaive or sword and shield. Something like that. The big 2 handed weapons can feel a bit slow and clunky especially if you aren't that familliar with them

Yeah I picked the biggest one, I like to go big, maybe as a copping mechanism. :nervous:

Yeah then I can totally see what you mean. I watched some streamers playing the game and didnt think it was going to be my thing because they all picked greatsword, hammer, etc. and they're all slow. I went with Insect Glaive and it was a good pick for me. You do need some setup time getting at least red and white buffs, but once you get the buffs you need its fast and powerful enough to feel like you're really in control and can react fast enough to whats going on. Just dont get to see the big numbers like the slow weapons :D

Yeah that's my problem with the big weapons, I attack but then I can't avoid being attacked, very frustrating.

Overcomitment is pretty much the biggest killer in the game. Especially with the big weapons you think you have the time to get off that massive combo then the fecker moves, you’ve committed and are locked in and they line you up.

However if you play in a group and someone sleeps, paralysis or traps a monster that’s when you come to the fore.

Started playing again after a couple of weeks away

Top tip picked up from a FB page for getting in on tempered monster hunts

You can search for lobbies on the match making for tempered monsters

It's much better than trying to get in on SOS and the quality of player seems a lot better too

QoL improvement

Feel like the game now needs some more monsters. Especially in the tier 2 tempered area as that is where the best gems are to be had and I’m fed up of fighting a Rathalos over and over again.

Also nothing worse than when you see an investigation someone has put up with 5 purple squares and 5 faints but they’ve locked it to themselves. Share the wealth man, all the tempered investigations I have seem to be 2 purples. :(

@Grib supposedly a new elder dragon dropping tonight. Lunastra. (female lion fire thing) New weapons, new armour and later in the month a new difficulty level called Arch tempered elder dragon wich will be event quests. They are starting that off with Arch Kirin the sick fooks. Then it’s followed up with arch Vaal. You get a new level of armour for those two which is known as gamma.

Haven’t really been playing that much recently but I might fire it up tomorrow.

Yeah haven't had s chance to watch any vids about it yet but seems good, I'm getting a bit lost in the grind recently, so some new hype is good

Seen the release of a crutch mantel -_- as if people aren't lazy enough!

The arch Kirin will suck but I can't see any variant of Vaal being an issue haha

Forgot to say in the update you’ll now get tempered investigations when you break parts on tempered monsters which apparently is something you didn’t get before. Which makes sense as to why I have so little T2 tempered investigations as I couldn’t be bothered picking up footprints.

Same with the grind. There are gems and stuff I want but they are super rare and they just aren’t dropping. Thinking of moving on and getting State of Decay 2

Yeah I'm making a concentrated effort on the tempered tracks it's not enough tho

Apparently you just jump into a tempered story mission and follow the monster for 15 mins using gille mantel and you should pick up a load, I think the higher the research level of the monster the easier it is to get investigations too

Just found my first tempered tracks :p

Still the only game I have played since I first popped it in my PS4. The game play loop of kill loot craft kill is perfectly suitable for the 30-60 minutes free time a day I have for gaming :)

@Grib ummm have you tried the event quest for Lunastra :houllier: I understand why they have brought out that crutch mantle. Saw a double supernova synced to perfection wipe out 3 people at once. I was trying to heal at the time luckily but throw in tempered nerg with his shoulder tackles and it’s a whole lot of fun.

It looks dope though right !?

Lol, duno bar it being a double blast I've been ok. Though I'm running it with a rathalos set, fire res charm III, and at least elemental m meal, maybe that makes a dif

It does look cool as feck until you’re down that little sloped area and Nergigante follows you down to that tiny room where Azure Rathalos normally is and you’re trying to fight the two of them in there. The Turf wars are quite epic. It’s just,
“ sht supernova incoming”
Dodge
“Nerg dive bomb attack”
Dive straight in to Lunastra fire blast.
It’s fun but can be super hectic, plus I was drunk most of yesterday made it increasingly harder tempered fookers.

How difficult is this game? Looks very interesting to me but if it's Dark Souls hard then I'll wait given I just finished Dark Souls 3.

Some fights can be challenging but it's not difficult really

People struggle with different monsters, there's things I've found a joke that others curse the life out of and vice versa

So essentially some of the game has DS type difficulty.

That Brigade armour cover is “pimping” got my dude all decked out in white with that hat and feather slapping about Lunastra as I farm her for parts.

@Grib have you checked out the weapons? The tier 8 have skills. One is hasten recovery which I imagine would stack well with health regen augment and the Vaal chest piece/set bonus. The buggers don’t seem to have put the Lunastra gem in the elder melded so going to have to get that gem the old fashioned way and i’d Imagine you need 2 of them.

My intrest has been reinvigorated in the game and I might actually make it past 500hrs played:nervous:

Twilight/summer festival is coming soon so hopefully be some more monsters or something.

Yup had a look at the weapons, some serious white sharpness going on too! Will need to pick up a few of them

15 Lunastra down, no investigations, no gems, no amount of track picking up or part breaking seems to give me investigations for it. Kushala gets involved, decide to kill it for getting in my way, get gem, get investigations galore, left frustrated, Lunastra continues to be a tight little fecker and refuses to give up the goods.

Definitely didn't get 2/2
I’m sure this is technically cyber bullying

Ridiculous tho, how on Earth have you got so much luck? It was the same with the augment stones. I went and had 1 more go last night but pretty much rage quit. 4 man team, Nerg was involved and he follows everywhere so I focused on killing him. Broke off from the other 3, slayed him and just as I went back to help the 3 of them died. So I just couldn’t anymore.

Need research tickets to upgrade Luna weapons, they're available from two quests

I have to go complete all optionals and make sure I've captured 15 monster types (should already have the second part) to unlock the first quest :/

I’ve now killed 25 Lunastra. I did finally manage to get an investigation for 1 but it’s only a 2 silvers reward. No Gem still, and to make it worse someone joined a quest just when I had limped him. Followed back to the lair, blew up his face, broke head, cut tail whilst he was on the deck, killed him. So this guy was in the game for about 2 minutes and you know when someone gets something rare when carving you hear that ting, this fooker I’m sure carved a gem after 2 minutes work

Only good thing is I now have over 40 of the junk and over 15 of the good stuff so when I finally get a gem I can craft to my hearts content.

I like the one (optional) I think that is her and two in wildspire, lots of room so negates the bond and other blasts

I’ve thankfully done every optional except for the shining star one. See your gems have they just been in that wildspire waste double? As that is me on 30 now and still no fecking gem. I have noticed that you can force Lunastra to do that supernova at a certain point by flashing it.

When she’s got lots of blue dust around her, flash her, she’ll jump to the sky and start her nova, if you run like the wind you’ll dodge it all then can whale on her straight after it in her non flamy form.

Anyway screw this gem, I’m away to cut the grass

Killed another 5 since that last post and still no fecking gem. It’s getting ridiculous now. The only bonus is I’ve got killing it down to about 7 minutes. Although I saw a video where someone does the capture the thrown quest in 5mins 56 secs. 3 tempered elders under 6 minutes. Madness. Using a bow as well.

Lunastra is now the 3rd most killed monster in my game. 40 F*****G five of the things and still no Gem.

People dying left right and centre... Just craft the Kulv armour and stop dying already.
People getting that Ching sound that ain’t me when a group carv is going on.

I hate this game :houllier::lol:

RNG is harsh. Have you tried going for crowns yet? :houllier:
