The deal.will go through no.doubt but cannot see the fee being £48m. It will be close to £60m. Again on grand scheme it should not matter but because it is liverpool signing, it will be funny considering how they always act they never spend and are underdogs.
On one hand it is not good that they are strengthening but on the other now klopp has absolutely no excuses to not win.

So the fact that the champions who had 20+ points more than us last season and will probably spend as much as us this transfer window to further strenghten their squad cannot be used to defend Klopp if we do not become champions next season?

Great signing for them lot.

They're building a good team. Obviously a lot can go wrong with settling in etc but it feels like they could be onto something.

Players seem to want to play for Klopp at the end of the day.

The only thing I'll say is that they have no real excuses anymore re: spending. And when the media mention the spending on squads they can't just highlight City, ourselves etc. Liverpool are in that tier now. Klopp may have to do some back tracking on some of his previous comments.

But that was not accepted for Jose and United. Every month all we got to hear United should be measured to a different standard because they spend more , so why should that be any different now

If they will fail, they will just point to net spend.

Better than accusing other teams of PED usage i guess...
Klopp definitely seems like he’s on something. Maybe he can pass it on to your players so you can finally win a trophy.

Mourinho's "second season" winning pattern and all that.

Any idea why Liverpool are getting seemingly free runs at highly Caf-rated talents like Fekir and Keita without any bigger clubs challenging for them?

Because when Liverpool are interested in a player his Caf-rating rockets to world class level.

Sold Coutinho, bought Keita, Fabinho and possibly Fekir for a grand total of £6,5m in net cost if numbers are correct, so saying we are such big spenders is kinda misleading at best.

I am giddy a bit! This transfer window has started very well. Maybe Pool learned it's lesson with VVD and do business early. Now Allison/oblak and summer looks extremely sunny. Then we will see scenes among rival clubs' fans especially if they still haven't bought any. Well, except bluemoon as City looks set for next season.

This will certainly put more pressure on other clubs to get busy. If Wenger were still in Arsenal the club would be handing paper bags to the fans for the hyperventilating scenes. And it's not looking busy at Chelsea either with uncertanties in the club. But if they can hang on Hazard and Courtois they have a good squad.

I think United have reacted well to Liverpool seemingly getting players left and right. It of course depends a lot if you guys get your main targets this window.

And I do agree. No excuses left anymore. Time to deliver for Klopp/Liverpool.

What has that got to do with spending? Jose was always judge for his spending. So why should that be any different now for klopp.

Not the net spend crap again ffs. He would have added close to £150m talent this season once the fekir deal is completed.

These players are good but they aren't the best in their respective positions, most top teams like Barcelona, City, Real or Juventus have better or equivalent players. Now, the players bought by Liverpool have room for improvement.

Are these players like Fekir and Keita really that good? Or are there like average mediocre tier players? I really don't see clubs like Man City, Man Utd, Barca, Real Madrid, Bayern going after players like them. The hyper is ridiculous.

By that logic we’re not big spenders either as we stay within our means

They're very good in inferior leagues to the EPL. Most players from France see a significant reduction in output when they move. A few maintain their level or get better here. Depay laid waste to the French league in the second half of the season. Finished with 32 goals and assists in 28(8) games, to give some context.

What’s the point in worrying about what other teams do? Salah scored nearly 50 goals last season but they still scraped into 4th place. They need the same again, no key players to leave, other players to step up, a reliable keeper, another CB and a big dollop of luck.

I think this is probably due to the effect Klopp has on seemingly 'good' players - he improved Coutinho, and has transformed Firmino, Salah, Mane and Chamberlain (none of whom was a target for any of the clubs you mention). All of these were good players before he coached them - but are now all very good and in some cases even better.

Fekir and Keita are already very good - so it's the expectation of what Klopp may be able to achieve with them that's causing the hype I suppose.

Yes and no. They are like what you find at us, City, Chelsea, even Bayern and Barcelona nowadays. Good players who can potentially perform brilliantly but can also look mediocre depending on management, setup, tactics, league, etc ... But game changers in the mold of what Real have for example, they are not.

Exactly. Can the front 3, especially Salah, maintain last years amazing form. Time will tell.

Apparently he has actually failed the medical. But don't know if it means Liverpool will cancel the deal.

Keita is a fantastic player, liverpool stole a beat on everyone and got it agreed a year in advance. Fekir is also id say one of the top 3 players in the French league, with Neymar and probably Mbappe. Those 2 are undoubtedly quality signings for them.

If I was a Liverpool fan I wouldn't care.

They have a very exciting and promising starting lineup next season.

A midfield of kieta-Fabinho -fekir has it all imo.
None of them have played in the PL or together. I'd hold off on the plaudits for the time being.

Very strange to think that a brand new midfield from 3 different leagues will gel together. City's midfield had plenty of experience, Our midfield has plenty of experience.

Local experience is vital to winning the league, because you've adapted to a new league, you learn a few tricks of the trade and can exploit the habits of players you play every season.
