Paris Saint-Germain Football Club, commonly referred to as PSG, is a French professional association football club based in Paris, whose first team play in the highest tier of French football, the Ligue 1. The team was formed in 1970 by the merger of Paris FC and Stade Saint-Germain.

Having clinched 35 titles in its history, PSG is the most successful club in French football and one of only two French clubs (with Olympique de Marseille) to win a major European club competition.

The Parc des Princes has been the home stadium of PSG since 1974. The Camp des Loges has served as the club's training centre since 1970. The Tournoi de Paris has been hosted by the capital club at Le Parc since 1975. PSG shares an intense rivalry with Marseille and contest the most notorious football match in France, known as Le Classique. PSG is the second-highest supported football club in France after rivals Marseille. Qatar Sports Investments became the club's sole shareholder in 2012. The takeover made PSG the richest club in France and amongst the richest in the world.

PSG have offered Italian goalkeeper Gianlugi Buffon a 2-year contract to join the club this summer, according to Le Parisien.

The 40-year-old is said to be in advanced negotiations with Les Parisiens, as initially reported by Canal Plus.

@Ecstatic I admire your dedication, if not your naivety. :D
You're right to admire my visionary thinking.

They need 3 players still to win that someone like chielini at the back zielinski or savic in the middle and a winger like mane to free up neymar in a free role
Yes, 2-3 players would suffice to win

- Our strongest recruit this summer is Tuchel, the right coach to get the most out of the squad.
- Our top 2 priorities are (1) a defensive midfielder (2) a left-back to better support Neymar
- The positioning of Neymar fully suits him IMO.
- One option could be to make M'bappé the #9, remove Cavani and insert a right-winger. Guedes is back but will be sold to comply with incoming FFP sanctions.

And what is going to happen to Kevin Trapp? He is their no 1.
His girlfriend doesn't want to leave Paris and Areola was the #1 last season. One of them will certainly leave after the WC.

Still no word on their FFP case? I
Today, the UEFA is expected to take a decision.

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly of financial fair play

In UEFA’s own words financial fair play is, “about improving the overall financial health of European club football.’’ This can be interpreted, as either making sure clubs who record continual losses each season do not end up with financial difficulties. Or, making sure the elite clubs remain elite and those who try to catch them might as well not bother.

Chelsea (the saviours of football) fan.
Do PSG fans want Buffon? Obviously was one of the greats but he's well past it now, isn't he?

For a team aiming to be the best of the best, seems a strange signing.

Wouldn't mind PSG winning the UCL, would elevate Tuchel to the top-class manager status he deserves.

I don’t like their midfield all that much. Said it last season that it’s not good enough for their ambitions. Cm/dm and left back is a must for them, especially when they play the elite teams in the CL.

Netherlands of the 70s, Hungary of the 50s, Brazil 1982... tell a different story: they are the Beautiful Losers, amongst the Greatest of All-time but cursed.

Brazil 1950, France 1993, Milan 2005 and PSG 2017 weren't sexy teams that graced the Game.

Please try again :D

Buffon would be a pointless signing. The guy is a serial loser in the CL and they need winners. His experience is great but he is so past it that it is borderline pointless

I think Trapp will stay. He has no ambition, but he made it into the German WC squad without playing much so that is clearly not an issue for Low.

Besides, he lives in Paris, earns millions, wins titles and bangs a Victoria‘s Secret model. I would milk that life as long as possible, if I was him.

Indeed, he doesn't seem unhappy for obvious reasons. :)

So what was UEFA's decision? Any chance they might have to sell Ney? Asking for a friend...

Meeting today but the sanctions will be announced in July.

The club won't be active in case they're not allowed to recruit some players. That is why, PSG didn't try to recruit players like Fabinho and Fred.

PSG will have to sell Guedes, Krychowiak, Di Maria, Pastore, Kurzawa, Edouard... to raise money. Cavani seems to be interested in joining Atletico that is looking for replacing Griezmann.

You need to be patient: I think Neymar will join you in 2019.

Lewandowski joining Real Madrid: realistic deal for you?

Your problem right now is that clubs interested in those players think they have you over a barrell because of FFP. So they likely will try to force the prices down

In cases like Pastore and Di Maria is a necessity because of their wages, too.

I'd take lewandowski, but not for €200m. Swap with Bale would be fine. But i still want Neymar (but would also settle for Mbappé :D)

Glad to have you back btw

He isn't. 1) He's not very good and 2) Areola played most of the games.

Is Neymar going to stay one more season or will he go to Madrid before window closes. Just wanted an easy year before the world cup didn't he.

Our biggest problem is PSG offers secondary players crazy wages. Secondary players can't earn more money elsewhere and prefer to be highly-paid subs instead of being active players elsewhere.

The circle of clubs capable to acquire them is very limited in terms of salary package and transfer fees.

1. Pastore would love to join Inter Milan but Suning Holdings Group is stingy. He rejected the offer of West Ham ready to pay the desired transfer fee.
2. Di Maria (30 years) wants to join Atletico Madrid but Simeone prefers to target a young player like Lemar (22 years) to gain money at the resale. He can't be interested in a new challenge in the lucrative Premier League
3. Nobody wants Jese
4. Krychowiak wasn't a great success
5...

The best prospects are Edouard and Guedes

Then, there are accounting considerations: it's better to keep a player like Jese on the bench instead of selling him at a price much more lower than his accounting value (acquisition price less amortizations).

Glad to have you back btw
Thanks :)

PSG are not letting him go, it's a matter of ego at this point. He will be back next season. The season after that though? Anybody's guess.

Also, we don't know the sanctions officially yet, but it seems like they will not have the Champion's league taken away.

Sabatini quit Suning because of that. It was all done and then Suning changed their mind at the last second and blew it all off. Sabatini was so pissed at that he quit his job.

Yeah, the only one of those players who's relatively easy to sell for a big profit is Guedes, because of his combination of age, potential, and wages. Problem is he seems to really want to stay at Valencia but they can't pay €45/50m for him. Yet. And no big PL club interested either...

You might want to try and offer Cavani to Chelsea, see if they bite. Might be your best option. Di Maria is either China or you'll have to keep him i think

Pastore understandably doesn't want to go to West Ham, and is another who's not going to be easy to offload

The others are almost impossible to offload for a profit

I joke about Neymar, but i wonder what's gonna happen with Mbappé with the oncoming UEFA sanctions(technically he's still on loan, isn't he? Or have you already made it permanent?). Really wouldn't mind giving you a helping hand in that regard :D

Yes Mbappé is already bought. It was counted from the start as a straight sale in both PSG and UEFA books.

Odsonne Edouard - 20 years - scored 11 goals in 29 games for Celtic. Ongoing negotiations with Celtic. I understand his market value is around 10 millions of euros.

Tuchel is a coach who likes to develop very young players. I think the FFP sanctions will make the club keep Nkunku as a back-up.

@Charles Miller

I've read PSG was interested in players like Éder Militão (São Paulo) and Rodrygo (Santos).

What do you think?

Eder Militao was potential wc as CB imo. Dont know why he is playing as RB now. I think is an error. Very good in the defense. Nothing special in the attack.

Rodrygo is the best Brazilian U-17 and Real Madrid is signing him for $45 mi. Apparently they will finish the deal in the next week.

PSG has officially been cleared by the UEFA CFCB Investigatory Chamber from charges of breaking FFP.
The CFCB Investigatory Chamber further decided to close the investigation into Paris Saint-Germain. Such decision follows a detailed review of transfer contracts and an analysis of the related management accounts which confirmed that such transactions were in line with the UEFA Club Licensing & Financial Fair Play Regulations. Furthermore, the chamber concluded that after significant fair value adjustments of several club sponsorship contracts - on the basis of evaluations performed by independent third party assessors - the break-even result of the club remains within acceptable deviation for the financial years ending in 2015, 2016 and 2017. The financial impact of transfer activities as from the 2017 summer – up to and including the upcoming transfer window - and compliance with the break-even requirement for the 2018 financial year will remain under close scrutiny and will be thoroughly looked at in the coming weeks.
I know most caftards will probably be shocked and cry foul play but in hindsight this decision makes a lot of sense for two reasons:
  • Firstly one of the reasons of the investigation was the rumours of fishy business in the Neymar and Mbappé transfers designed to bypass FFP. This was the first thing debunked. The Neymar fee was straight up payed with PSG funds (and not by a Qatar WC ambassador contract like claimed by journos with imagination). Mbappé despite the loan structure was treated in accounting terms as a regular summer 2017 transfer, so everything's clear on this front.
  • Secondly we have the case of overstated sponsorships. The main suspect, the yearly €200m QTA contract was devaluated by the CFCB to 100m during the 2014 FFP settlement. PSG have been transparent about it and it makes no sense for the CFCB to punish PSG for using sponsorship values that they set themselves. If they think they fecked up in 2014 they can readjust and allow the club to comply with new values, and that's exactly what's happening. Besides, mostly due to the FFP sanctions the 15 16 17 accounts remain pretty balanced with the readjusted values. Early rumours from L'Equipe mention PSG only need €60m to fully balance the 2018 exercise.
