Watching him this world cup reminded me how calm he used to be on the ball and always looked for a forward ground pass a few seasons back. I wonder what happened coz all I see him do for us is hoof it up field. Same as DeGea.

Love Rojo, and can’t stand when idiots want him sold. The knee injury affected him last season, but an in form Rojo will be our best defender. Hopefully playing for the national team helps him regain his form and confidence back.

What a player, carry Argentina to the knockout phase
Rojo>Messi :D

If only he or Jones can be more consistent and injury free for us :(

In a team containing Messi, Dybala, Aguero, Higuain and Di Maria - Marcos Rojo saves Argentina with a right footed volley.

He did execute a nice, long, accurate crossfield pass that I don't think our other CBs are capable of. Can't remember the match, could be Huddersfield. Think he's still adept on the ball, just hasn't made use of his ability much.

He's going on his fifth season at the club and has either failed to stay fit or maintain form long enough to earn a guaranteed starting berth in the team. Im not saying sell the guy but he wouldn't be missed if the club decided to. He's a decent backup at the moment.

He did stay fit and maintain form the year we won the Europa League, and he looked the part. Unfortunately, the knee injury he had is a very serious injury which takes a long time to recover from, so 2017-2018 was not a good season for him. You do understand that it takes a very long time for any footballer to fully recover from a cruciate ligament injury?

Best performance since coming back from the injury, even if discounting the goal. All round solid defensive, while strangely composed in possession and stepped in midfield.

This was how he was playing for us until his injury. When he's on form, he's our best defender. The problem is whether he can recover that form for us and be consistent.
I think if he gets a good run in the world cup, his confidence will shoot up and he'll come back to us like the player he was before his injury.

it's Mourinho's idea of fast transition from defence.

Well he used to give the ball away just in front of our own box with careless passes to the opposition, so we're usually better off if he goes for a long pass and skips that part

So 1 goal and 1 assist for him this world cup. Probably best in Argentina squad.

I watch all united matches and I don't remember him ever giving the ball away in that manner. Maybe I missed something that sounds like you constantly saw.

He did it often. Too casual passing the ball in our own half and giving it away to attackers. It wasnt an issue the season before last when he finally had a good season but before that he was quite suicidal with his passing.

Bloody hell, I knew at first it was Rojo that scored the goal but then because of how cleanly he hit it with his right foot I thought I was mistaken and it was Aguero until I saw the replays! Higuain even missed an easier chance a few minutes earlier when he blazed over the fraud!

Goal aside, thought he had a solid performance in a massive game for Argentina. Proper fighter and always gives it his all on the pitch, even though at times he can make you nervous on the defensive side of his game, however, when he gets a good run of games and stays injury free he has been reasonably solid! The season before last he was very good, was probably our best defender.

Cannot believe next season is his 5th season at the club! he has only played 107 games for us, which is not much at all. Yes a lot of it is due to injury issues but now he is 28 and in his prime years. He really needs to make next year count, stay injury free and try cement a place as a starting CB.

I'm still not sure who our 2 best CB's are  they all have their pros and cons in their own way. Who would you guys prefer as a pair?

He is such a b-tec Ramos. A massive cnut, red card walking and good with the ball at his feet. I love him.

I think most United players have looked much better in their national team during the first matches of WC, than they do in United.

Always loved players like him Rafael, Vidic or Evra. There is passion about the club and players leave everything on the pitch. If only players like Martial would have half passion for the club Rojo has

Totally agree. Looking forward to seeing him compete for a spot next year.

ACL aside, he's had a lot of time to cement his position here and he's a player who is prone to error. He's not starting material for a team chasing big honors. He was only signed here on the back of a decent 2014 world cup. He wasn't even the best defender at Sporting. His signing came as a surprise to everyone, including Sporting fans and probably himself.

Well, at least you don’t want him sold.

I still don't rate Rojo at all but i'm happy for him that he scored a goal that will live long in the memory of his native country.

Such an important goal and the celebration:lol: the way he literally carried Messi on his back and just kept running was great.

Just signed a new long contract, having a great WC. If the hype keeps growing and we're lucky we might get big money for him. Even though i like him, it would be smart to sell now if his value keeps rising. I certainly have my doubts about him, and if he doesn't manage to be a regular first choice for us next season he will soon be a 29 year old backup. Might be enough for us if the other guys have stepped up, but he will hardly be a mouthwatering object for buyers if we decide to get rid next summer.

It would have been cool if Madrid thought he was the second coming of Ramos and wanted him as a WC galactico type cb. We never get to take clubs to the cleaners, would have been a fresh change.

Would you be happy if that happened and we got Varane in exchange or something @manunited1919 ?

Was literally one goal in one game. His value has not gone up.

Sure, but I thought he had been playing good this whole WC? Haven't watched all the Argentina games though. If he has been terrible then forget about it. Still, some may get influenced even by just one goal. Its the world cup.

Well then, lets hope Messi feels some type of way and insist he'll leave Barca for United unless his newfound friend Rojo joins them. He usually gets it his way.

Seriously though, i like Rojo but i have serious doubts about him going forward. I don't understand why he hasn't been playing at all since recovering from the injury. Is that normal? If so then maybe he won't ever be the same, or unlikely to improve enough?

Bad first game, pretty solid 2nd game and scored the goal so the hype has gone into overdrive
