SMS is the real deal, we should be grateful to the World cup for knocking his price down a bit.

Didnt have a great world cup, but not the best way to judge a player.

I have no doubt he will go on to be a top player, but not sure how we would utilize him at the moment, espicially with Fred coming in.

I think part of the reason for his poor WC performances was Lazio slapping a £100 million price tag on him before he even started. He is not a player of that calibre (yet) and that move from Lazio was nothing short of stupid, putting him under unnecessary pressure. He's probably worth £40-£50 million at the very most.

You can't get a decent fullback for that these days.

The majority of posters have judged him on Youtube and stats, so its an improvement.

The two lads at City for starters, and if you believe the rumours Juve want similar for Alex Sandro
But they dont believe them to be decent fullbacks. They believe them to be top class fullbacks

So tell me again who are the decent fullbacks that cost that much?

Didn't impress at all. Kinda disappointing.
First games for him in NT. He's playing much better for Lazio. He also played with a lot of pressure because we sucked ex coach for not calling him in NT.

Every time I watched Serbia to get a look at him,. All i did was stare at the best CM in that team and then thank all the gods that he already plays for United. SMS looks bang average, and being next to Matic made him stand out more, not in a positive way though.

Hilarious that Lazio want 100m for this tosser. He’s looked good in Serie A this season, but I automatically take that with a pinch of salt. He’s been disappointing for the NT, but I think it’s important to remember that he’s not playing in his favoured role.

All that said, with Pogba here, he doesn’t fit United at all. Steer clear.

Dropped 2/10 performance today , Fellaini would be more useful against that Brazilian side.

He's decent but he's not good enough to be an important player at one of the truly big clubs. The 100m fee is Lazio giving a feck off price that they never expected anyone to actually entertain, like Torino did with Belotti last year (where was he this year?). Decent player, good enough to be a squaddie at a big club. Not much more. Like a poor mans pogba, who already needs a feck ton of conditions seemingly to produce consistent performances.

I swear with both him and Pogba, people see their size, that they play in midfield somewhere and see they have good dribbling and assume they have all the potential to be world class midfielders. Since when has physicality been the most important thing in midfield? Not controlling games with intelligence and their passing and positioning. A few fancy dribbles, some long range goals and being physically imposing and they suddenly become 100m players. Laughable really. Give them a proper midfielder role and they struggle

Agreed. Matic clearly looked a better player than SMS and Ljajic the other midfielders around him. Not that he had a great tournament either, but he stood out from the other two.

There is nothing called "proper midfield role". Football is a team game, players and team perform better when players compliment each other style. Not every midfielder need to control the game, that's just pointless.

Few player's strength is attacking from midfield, few player's is to control the game.

Also just like to note. His club team have done him no favors whatsoever by putting that lucrative price on his head. I watched this tournament expecting to see a 100 mil player, or someone who looks the part who can turn into a 100 mil player. He doesn't, and the thing is he doesn't look bad either. Just average. But that price tag just tilts everyone's expectations and evaluations.

Ffs sake, can't you at least let the lad sign for United and then dare misplace a pass before insulting him ? JC

You dunno Lotito. He wants 130-150m. Nothing below that, whoever gonna get him will have to pay a hefty price.
But I agree I'd take Pogba for the same money rather than him.

Italian clubs now days running a cartel. Transfers between them are ridiculously low priced. Whereas they deter foreign clubs by putting ridiculously high price. It seems they want to retain talents in Italy, and go back to old golden days.

I would not be surprised if SMS sold to juve for 30m.

He will be waiting a while for someone to come in for him at that money now. His hope was clearly that Sergej would have an impressive world cup to top off an impressive season, unfortunately he didn't come close to delivering that. It's probably best for all involved that he has another season at Lazio to consolidate and build on the work of last season, while also proving to top clubs with the money that he is as good as the hype around him suggests.

He's waiting to get the offer he wants and nobody offer what he like he knows that Juventus will bid something around 100-110m.

We offered him 70m and some players but he refused.

I really hope nobody (meaning United, City, PSG, Barcelona or Real Madrid) will offer whatever he wants but he is tough nut to crack.

Honestly he is just baiting us into paying the 100m he wants. Anyway Marotta is selling all the youth we bought so far to get the money needed for Milinkovic.

But guys I'm really afraid the likes of Barcellona or PSG would pay that sum.
Barcellona see Coutinho and Dembelè both 150 each.

Didnt look good at all this world cup but it doesnt say that much... Harry Kane for example was the worst player during last Euros and he isnt a bad player.

Yet the resident Lazio fan says he played as a no.10 as he did in the first two World Cup matches last season.
Not a lazio fan. Yes he did play as an attacking midfielder for Lazio

Lazio play a 3-5-1-1 system, Savic plays as one of the central three (on the left), Alberto plays as the #10.
Lazio shifted lineups and formations throughout the season. The only constant was the front 3 of Milinkovic-Luis Alberto and Immobile. They never played a true 3-5-1-1 either, Milinkovic operated roughly in the same areas as Luis Alberto, with Lucas and Parolo behind them for cover and support.

Milinkovic needs to play close to the forwards. He's a big guy who dominates in the air, has a silky touch, great vision and quick decision making and excellent final ball. The deeper he plays the less he can make effective use of those qualities. He's wasted in a CM or box-to-box role

Lazio are kings of over pricing their players. They did the same with Felipe Anderson a few seasons back.

No doubt SMS has talent, but he's far from the finished product and should probably stay clear of jumping up to an elite club as he doesn't seem ready. Sticking with Lazio would be the best bet for his development imo.

they say never judge a player based on a world cup/ Euros. I hadn't seen this lad play before but based on all the hype and the huge transfer fee his club were looking I was eager to watch him. Hugely disappointing. He's not the only so called big name who has flattered to deceive at this world cup. He obviously had a good club season, but any notion of getting that huge transfer fee now is gone. Half it and they might get a bite from someone. Think the lad is only 23, so young enough to possibly stay another season with his own club.A good world cup can falsely inflate your price but in this instance it can also work the other way.

Posts like these can come back to haunt you in a couple of years, but I can only say what I've see with my own eyes.

And that is, he's a mediocre big oath, with the touch of a rhinoceros.

So he's perfect for us.

Haven't seen enough of him but isn't He more of an attacking MF than a midfielder who controls the game? We signed Fred for that. We also have Pogba. Why would We need Sergej?
