Horrible performance. Needs to be sent home after this, ideally on the same flight as the losing side.

Tough game to ref in fairness, with a lot of playacting from both sides.

He’s not being helped by the behaviour & reaction of players. Feels like Colombia have spent more time surrounding/complaining to the ref than playing any sort of attacking football.

He’s struggled. Not saying he’s a bad ref, but perhaps not experienced enough for this kind of game.

Both teams have made this impossible to referee properly. Any referee would struggle with both team’s BS. Anybody that doesn’t see that is dull and being overly harsh.

Out of his depth. The surrounding him is a result of him being shite and the yellows he dishes out (in a rather one sided manner) only contribute to more of the same.

You need to get the cards out early in cases like this. He took far too long to get stern, and the game had already spiralled.

I disagree. Its good that he doesnt send people off in case he's made mistakes already (which he cant be 100% sure of with this drama). Then it would be a double penalty and take a possibly bad refereeing situation to something that could knock out a team.

Also these teams have CRAZY history with what happens personally to a player that gets sent off. Andres Escobar's own goal rings some terrible tunes to how unfair life can get over some simple bad luck.

That should not come into officiating a match, ever.

These aren't going to be mistakes, roughhousing should be punished and stamped out quickly. The reason they continued with it is because they know they can get away with it.

Whoever who gave the instructions to the referee to be totally one sided should be awarded a knighthood. One of the worst refereeing performances I have seen in years on this level.

Yes, but please take history Into account and that England already reaped the reward in shape of a penalty and goal.

Andres Escobar died because of an own goal and it tells you something about how Crazy fans can get and how small little mistakes can have an even more terrible endgame after a game of football has been played.

Ref gives penalty to England, and allows Colombia to complain, appeal, whinge, damage the penalty spot, for 3 whole minutes.

It’s a genuine observation, not a criticism per se. On the face of it, it looks like a jarring matchup.
I’ll take your word on it. Like K2K said though, the Senegalese crew looked great.

That said, they were refereeing a real game of football, not whatever it is we’re currently watching.

HELLO
I blame Fifa more than him. It's ridiculous that several players hounding a referee is still acceptable in 2018. It has happened non-stop at this world cup. Start by making bookings and suspensions common for those that offend.

At this level FIFA need the best referees available. Learn from NFL, NHL and NBA. This incompetence would be impossible with a professional referee.

Again... didn’t take long.
I'm sorry if you feel that I'm disrespectful but this is absolutely unbelievable, I'm sorry for saying Americans as a whole.

Let's just say Mark Geiger should stick to MLS, americans need to make their league stronger and need to prove themselves on lower stages before being able to perform in this kind of games.

1) The Senegalese League is how strong again?

2) He obviously did prove himself. That’s how he was selected to be there.

This game would have been difficult for any referee to officiate.

One of the worst refereeinf performances I've seen. Made it a spectacle though, I guess.

Escobar died because the Pablo was done and the power vacuum lead to more aggressive and violent cartels trying to fill the place. One cartel bet big on Colombia winning the world cup. Escobar was killed for money

Did you see that? Lol. Please, we all know he shouldn't be nowhere near this world cup game. I'm really sorry once again as I don't want to sound disrespectful nor make a stereotype for Colombians but this guy is not qualified enough to get this kind of responsibilities.

EDIT. Can't reply anymore until midnight UK time. "That" was the goal we scored that he called off.

You know it’s impossible for me to know what “that” was, right?

Honestly he's been poor but whoever reff'd this game would have had a nightmare, shocking stuff Colombia being the worst by far but England not covering themselves in glory.
