That penalty was very good, his shooting technique has improved a lot. Can see him scoring few goals from outside the box like he did against Burton. His shooting is like Ronaldo's(obvious not as good).

Down in a heap crying at the end. England staff and Southgate around him.

Looks like an injury and tournament over?

Down in tears at the end of the game and had 2 members of staff with him. I noticed right at the end of the game he could have made a run into the corner for Lingard but he was reluctant to sprint. Possible injury? Note this a pure guess so nobody take my head off please.

He was only on for two minutes. I thought he was just happy to have made it to the semi’s, really hope he’s not injured.

Wonder if he pulled something chasing back at full tilt when he made a tackle. Hope hes not injured, really want him to get a chance in this world cup.
Yeah I'm thinking this. Anything like that from cold can be fatal . Didn't look to do much of a warm up.

Just saw some images of him walking off consoling a number of Swedish players.

Fingers crossed it's nothing.

Hardly jogging out there.

Compared to Raheem who didn't give Vida a moment's rest.

It's allowing Croatia to build from the back.
He needs the ball to feet to run with. Different type of game.

Sterling didnt do anything in the 2nd half? First half was a different game, croatia took control long before the sub.

He was tired.

But the pressing he did affected how Croatia played and they hardly created anything.
Nah I think it was just Croatia being rattled in the first half. They changed in the 2nd half, wouldnt put that down to tiredness.

I disagree.

This Croatian defense does look like it's bothered by pace. Not the most mobile. The balls from midfield over the top were causing them trouble.

Wonder how they will do against Mbappe.
Mbappe will run rings around them I reckon.

Maybe he's asked to play off of the last man or float around looking for space between the centrebacks though?
Sterling was the only player pressing and Croatia passed around him in the second half.
Maybe Gareth thinks the energy isn't there for a press anymore.

We haven’t played football since we conceded the first goal and started bricking it. Nearly every ball since has been a long ball. We’ve been a different team since conceding and we’ve not given our attackers a chance.

Sterling is a much much better player than Rashford in all aspects of the game except finishing.

Awful Impact.

One trick pony. All he has in his locker is the knock it past an opponent and run trick.

Still green as fcuk I'm afraid. Think Mourinho was justified to use him as he did last season.

Needs to keep working to develop himself.

He needed one more year of someone like LVG. Mourinho is not the right coach for him. Maybe McKenna can help him a bit.

Sterling should've stayed on really. Marcus did nothing at all.

Rashford was a bit crap when he came on wasn't he??Team needs a goal and he floats in across instead of whipping it in with pace?He did it twice.Crap.

I expected more from him this tournament. I can't think of anything worthwhile he's done.

Edit: Just remembered his penalty v Colombia

Thought he was dreadful every time he played at this world cup.

If he'd been even half decent he would have ousted Sterling from the lineup but he never took his chances.

Took a great penalty against Colombia. That's about it

He's shit.

feck him, Don't care about his below average England performances but he's had been like this since his debut season.

His opinion of himself is well off and he's stupidly greedy.

And this is why I've said all tournament long that Sterling should play. One has natural dribbling ability, the other has to use his pace because to compensate for the lack of it.

He's such a weird player, has some good technical play in him, but his decision making is absolutely dreadful. Keeps trying to dribble the whole team, and those two freekicks at the end were absolutely dreadful, zero pace on them at all. We've seen it all season long with Rashford that he's a good player but in no world is he close to being a starter.

I was actually pretty surprised he didn’t do his usual from set pieces take a shot on and put it in row Z. So the fact he even tried to put it in an area for someone is an improvement in my books. The rest yeah kinda agree with, the difference between how Mbappe travels with a ball and Rashford is night and day.
