Huge season for our Jose.

I know it's mentioned a lot, but I feel it really is a make or break season for him.

Nice to see this thread before it becomes 90% negative :D

If he gets two out of LB, CB and RW I think we'll do well, but we're still some way off from matching City or being serious in the CL. People will probably see better performances so hopefully that will temper expectations and keep them in line with the quality of our team.

We'll need to be in the top 3 of the League and with a realistic shot at the title by Christmas or I sense it's curtains for Jose.

This season will be a success, and he will stay for at least two more years.

Yes, it's allowed to be optimistic.

I'm not his biggest fan and hate his football. But I'm desperate for him to be a success. Hope it clicks this season and we play some great footie.

Excited to see his evolution under new coaches. Adding 3 new coaches basically shows he wasn't happy with his/his team's performances last season.

Excited to see how much we change with the new coaching staff.
Don't doubt Jose, but he needs to adapt to modern football.

Either we win the league with his approach or show signs of adapting to modern football with positive attacking football even if we finish 2nd or 3rd to give him another season. I'm hoping the new coaching set up can be a big influence in that regard.

Another season of shit on a stick football to come 2nd to City then he should walk at the end of the season.

I actually like him more than I do his football. Bit like Van Gaal. I want to see him succeed because he talks such a good game and people hate him. For that, my natural instincts as a United fan is to want to see him shove it up the critics arse.

We will know by game week 10-12 how he will do. Mourinho does not do mid season recoveries he either starts strong and maintains that position or he starts badly and maintains that position.

In your closet, in your head!
All of the top 5 teams will be playing high tempo, high intensity and high pressing styles, with the sole exception of us. Quite apprehensive as so far we seem to struggle most with these sorts of opponents, and it might push us to become even more defensive out of necessity.

Predicting that he won't win the league, but will do enough to keep his job.

Seems like this will be the defining year for him here.

2 trophies in his first season.
In his second season: our highest points total and league finish since SAF retired.
This guy needs to be fired before he ends up winning the league.

No point to reason with the anti-Mourinho lot. It’s much more enjoyable to just let them carry on without getting involved.

He'll win the league this year.
I hope so.
We are having a terrible transfer window, making a big deal about signing a 19 year old RB, who won't play and a 35 yr old GK, who also won't play in our first team.
Fred is the only actual signing we've made and IMO, we have lost ground over MCFC. I'd rather have Mahrez (instead of Fred, Dalot and the 35 yr old GK).
Hopefully, Jose can work some magic and make our team punch above their weight.

Make or break season for him, no more time for excuses. Let's see if he is still the same guy who can deliver the top silverware or if he's just living off former glory.

If the owners back him and improve the team, then we'll be strong contenders. Very low key transfer window thus far, for which some will blame Jose.
We have areas that need addressing, I'm pretty sure Jose has passed on his list of players he'd want the Woody & co to purchase.

It's very worrying mate. I was a big critic of the football that Mourinho had us playing last season, but the guy has won it all. He isn't an idiot and will fully know where our squad deficiencies are. If the club aren't backing him in this transfer window then it will end messy. Not good signs so far.

I'd like to see him fecking cheer up this season.

He doesn't help himself with how fecking joyless and miserable he comes across all season.

Title challenge is a MUST.

No excuses for Jose.

He must deliver that at minimum.

This will be his final season for us. This time next year we'll be discussing how the new manager has a task on his hands to clear out some deadwood, how certain players deserve a second/third/fourth chance under a new manager. Rinse and repeat.

The best manager in the world.
Sure was from 2004-2010. That Mourinho was the best. The 2018 Mourinho hell no. From 2002-2010 he was a trophy winning machine. 6 league titles in 8 years. But only 2 league titles in the next 8. He could well be past his sell by date. Will continue to win the occasional cup competition but not a force to be reckoned with for the biggest honours- the PL and CL.

Why is everyone going on about the 3rd season curse for Mourinho, but no one is talking about the league winning curse for managers next season?

Following the pattern, City will go on a meltdown and Pep will be sacked at the end of the season latest. This means we actually have a good chance at the title if the Mourinho curse is not true. If both curses are real then I guess Liverpool are going to take it.
