Which keeper wins this?

Lloris was a shoe in before that error. Can Fifa really give him it?

Mind you didn't Kahn win best keeper at 2002 world cup when he made bad error in the final?

Has Pickford made any errors at the WC? He's been spot on and let down by shite defending. Must be in with a shout tbh.

Was criticised here in England for the Belgium group goal he let in.

I think he's been very good in KO games, stepped up and made big saves when he had to which is what you need.

Lloris was clear winner though before that schoolboy error so it has complicated things a little.

Is it not on clean sheets like the prem? If not I'd say Courtois or Pickford.
it can't be on clean sheets since not all teams played the same number of games.

The Golden Glove Award is awarded to the best goalkeeper of the tournament. The award was introduced with the name Lev Yashin Award in 1994, in honor of the late Soviet goalkeeper.[7] The FIFA Technical Study Group recognises the top goalkeeper of the tournament based on the player's performance throughout the final competition. Although goalkeepers have this specific award for their position, they are still eligible for the Golden Ball as well, as when Oliver Kahn was awarded in 2002. Although the Golden Glove Award was first awarded in 1994, every All-Star Team in World Cups prior to 1998 except 1990 included only one goalkeeper. In the event of a tie, the Golden Glove Award goes to the goalkeeper who progressed furthest in the competition. The next tiebreakers are saves made, then minutes played.

I think it was voted before the final back then.

He even won the Golden Ball over Ronaldo. Explains why Ronaldo won the Golden Ball in 98 over Zidane. Zidane won the Golden Ball in 06 over Cannavaro.

Courtois would have been my choice before the final and still remains so.

Lloris had made 11 saves before this match and he does this. Courtois made 27 saves (most of any keeper) which makes it 82% save percentage (2nd best behind only Schmeichel). 3 clean sheets in 7 which isn't great but only Lloris had better with 4 in 7.

Before looking at stats I would have said Courtois and after having looked at them I'm more sure.

That being said keepers as a profession didn't have a standout tournament. Schmeichel, Ochoa and perhaps Pickford have gained praises.

Perhaps there's a case for Subasic given the manner in which Croatia got to the final. He might have been the keeper this tournament that was the biggest factor in his team's success.

I think Schmeichel should also be up there. Denmark almost got to the quarter finals on the back of his saves.

Clearly Lloris. Kept the French on their toes and prevented complacency due to the high probability of him making a howler and conceding a ludicrous goal. Team player.

Even thought courtois made more saves, who's paid our more valuable (game winning or game saving) ?

Were courtois saves difficult?

Jesus, thinking about this it must be a nightmare to figure out, way too many things to consider.

Curtois was outstanding throughout the WC, hard to say it’s not deserved

Both goalkeepers today probably ruined their chances of winning it with how they were today tbf. Courtois deserved

There has to be a rule that only those the final can get Golden Ball. Ronaldo in 1998, Kahn in 2002, Zidane in 2006, Messi in 2014, now Modric in 2018. Heck, even in 2010 a Spaniard didn't win it, instead it went to Forlan (Uruguay got the 4th place).

I guess Romario is the last one who has won it from the winning team.

Should be Subasic IMO, successfully negotiated two penalty shootouts.
He was my choice before today. Throw in that touch onto the post against Kane in the semi as well. But that was a car crash today. Looks like he’s carrying the hammy injury he got against Russia.

Lloris or Pickford should've won it before him.
Nope, Courtois was immaculate this tournament. Pickford looked a bit shaky in the group stage, Lloris had a massive feck up in the final. I think Mbappe, Modric and Courtois were all 3 correct decisions.
