Surely needs a loan this summer. Too many experienced players in front of him for him to get serious game time. I'd love for him to start often for a side like Wolves.

He wouldn't get a game at Wolves. He needs to go back to the Championship to a club that is actually in need of a CB and will play him.
Oh yeah I know he wouldn't, but I don't think he'll benefit player for a bottom of premier league side where their style of defending would differ so drastically from our own that it would become pointless.

With Villa in financial problems, probably makes sense to send him back there on loan there.

I don't think he'd get a game at any PL side.

I don't think it matters particularly much for CBs anyway. In fact a weaker side could be even more beneficial as he'll be tested more. Style of defending doesn't matter, getting senior experience and ironing out rookie mistakes is what matters.

Not quite for me, I'd like to see a team that doesn't want to hold the ball out of defence everytime they get it. Experience building up play from the back could be perfect for him.

He doesn't need a Championship loan. He proved he is Premiership quality by nullifying Sanchez, and also, the Nevilles never played in the Championship, nor did Butt until he was 34. Also, he was better than Lindelof v Swansea and should have been given the same chances from then on, at least at RB, especially in the ridiculous game v Derby (why did he pick Blind and Mkhitaryan, or Darmian on the bench, if they weren't in his plans). Pochettino hasn't loaned out Harry Winks at Tottenham either.

On that note he, TFM and even Mitchell should be given the same chances as Dalot this season until they prove they are demonstrably worse than the Portuguese. Starting with the same opportunities on this tour.

Unfortunately it seems Mourinho cares about the development of his signings (who are not usually British), but not that of his youth team, which is incompatible with a team who brought through the Nevilles and Butt without loans, especially when some of those players actually have more potential than those three.

How have you determined that bottom paragraph!? Ferguson sent Beckham on loan to Preston. Did he not care about him then?

Also, Tuanzabe is one of the few youths Jose has talked up, saying he could see his talent instantly. Keeping him at OT with Bailly, Jones, Smalling, Rojo and Lindelof all ahead of him would mean a wasted season for him. He'd be better off playing consistently in a lower level side.

Like Lindelof and Mkhitaryan?

Even Pogba was dropped for Scott McTominay for a period. What an odd post.

I would like to think that he is in with a chance of starting his fair share of games this season as would be hungry to most of any chances he may get & were bound to have our usual bad luck with injury's & that is why I belive it would be a mistake to send him out on loan yet again!

Lindelof, yes (or much more than Tuanzebe anyway). Axel was far better than him v Swansea, but the Swede was given far more chances afterwards, even being played at RB several times, including at Derby where Blind was played for the first time in ages at CB even though it'd have made more sense to play Axel at RB and Victor at CB.

I don't see the point of loaning Tuanzebe or TFM when the quality of our senior centre backs is so poor.
Smalling,Jones,Bailly,Rojo,Lindelof
Either could take the place of any of these over a 12 month period, considering at the moment none of them are special.

If we could bring in a couple of first choice CBs without a long history of injuries, I'd happily keep Tuanzebe at the club as a substitute option. I think he's got the makings of top player.

But, as things stand, almost all of centrebacks are injury prone and therefore the bench needs to be filled experienced senior players.

Unfortunately, I see another loan on the horizon. It's always tricky to pick the right club for that. Not many would trust a green 20 year-old to be their first choice in the centre of defence.

West Brom?

Dawson is meant to want out, Hegazi has a release clause...and that's it. They are awful for CBs.

Yep can't force their way past Terry, Chester, Dann and Sakho. So obviously better than Smalling, Jones, Rojo, Lindelhof etc etc. really don't understand how managers can get it so wrong, I mean Terry, Chester etc should all be at the World Cup as first choices, as they're obviously world class...

They both played a healthy amount of matches on loan, despite Axel getting injured and TFM having a manager change at his loan club, cheers for your input though.
Let's shut the forum down if we're not allowed to debate on managers decisions.

Yes they both got to play at full back. Hardly anything in central defence. The let’s shut the forum line being played yet again....
Have a valid opinion and not make outlandish statements, then there can be a debate.
Or carry on the trend of let’s close the forum if anyone dare not agree with me. Let alone provide evidence provided by people who actually make a living selecting and managing football teams...

Smalling, Jones, Evans etc all played full back under Fergie before they placed centre back, it's a natural progression for young defenders.
Two young defenders went on loan, got good minutes, have come back and not gone back on loan yet. But no you're right there's no debate to be had as to whether or not they should go on loan.
Very strange post from you.

Oh look back tracking on making statements about not loaning players as they're better than the starting players.
Im all up for a debate on good clubs to loan them to, but obviously you're not one to debate with. So enjoy your opinion.

I'm not back tracking, I genuinely think Axel and TFM can take over from our average centre backs if given the chance. Hopefully they get good minutes on tour to prove that.

So what do you expect to happen with our current central defenders? They aren't being sold so they will play more than two young centre backs that have hardly played that position in the premier league.

I disagree that they have to play, does Jones have to play over Axel and TFM? I wouldn't say so.
Bailly, Smalling deserve to be ahead of them until the young defenders prove otherwise, the rest not for me. I'm not saying that they should both walk into the side, I'm saying over a season they can come in and prove to be better options given the chance.

Half those centre backs should be sold to be fair. Even with that I agree with you though. I think half should be sold and Mensah should be kept as 4th or 5th choice centre back. Tuanzabe needs another loan mainly for the fact he was injured the majority of his last one. Still, disagree people saying he should go to a lower championship side, there are a few premiership sides and top championship ones he should play for regularly.

Which premier league sides do you feel he could get into? I'd love for him to play regularly in the premier league, but can't see a side where he would be trusted.

If Man Utd had Pochettino as manager rather than Mourinho, probably Klopp too, he'd be trusted at Man Utd and so would TFM, maybe even Mitchell too, even with the signing of Davinson Sanchez (it'd be him not Lindelof). Pochettino hasn't loaned out Harry Winks (yet?), who is far less physically talented than the first two at least (yes I know he's a CM). Klopp didn't loan out Alexander-Arnold either.

He played Harry Winks without loaning him out, so no, I'm not on a wind-up, yes, I mean it. Does Tuanzebe have less potential than Harry Winks? I'd say no, he has more.

He didn't loan out Winks but he did loan out Carter Vickers, Onomah & Edwards & barely gave Walker Peters any games even though he generally did well when he did play. I don't know where this idea that Pochettino is brilliant at bringing through academy players comes from considering most of the young players that have played regularly for Spurs were already experienced players from playing at other clubs.

Possibly Bournemouth, Brighton, Cardiff, Burnley, Fulham and Newcastle. None of them have two top quality defenders. He was at probably along with WOlves the biggest championship clubs last year and I think would have played a lot more if it wasnt for the injury. Also a loan to one of the Scottish giants is a possibility and a good move. We are talking about a potentially top quality young player, I would thought there would be a lot of decent sides interested in a loan deal for him.

Most of them would prefer big strong, 'if in doubt hoof it out' type players though you'd feel. Bournemouth and Fulham probably the main exceptions to that though. I wouldn't mind seeing him next to Lasecelles at Newcastle though

we should start making 2 years loan deals. Maybe then the team getting a player on loan finds it worth the investment. Ideally for me, he'd go to championship club that then gets promoted so he gets one season in the championship and one in the PL.

Agree, they were the three clubs I would most like to him play at on loan, the other being Rangers. I would rather he goes to a bigger club than championship side so we can really see if he is good enough, and playing a higher standard of football. The other option is a loan abroad like we are seeign with a number of youngsters. I do think Tuanzabe, Mensah and even RoShaun Williams do all have a lot of potential. In my opinion, we have 5 or 6 very average centre backs in our first team squad at the moment who need to be phased out so it is important for Tuanzabe and Mensah especially to show they are ready for the first team squad as back up players, otherwise we probably need to sign three centre backs over this summer and next

I am not sure if any of the teams in the Prem would take a punt on him being a starter from a loaning club, he's got little experience and there is a lot of money, CB is one of the most important positions and hardly played by rookies. Most of the clubs will spend money they all have on a transfer from other leagues for more experienced players. Good for Tuanzebe that he's an allround palyers capable of playing more positions but that owuld only mean he's more of a cover also. Very few teams in the prem will spend time developing the kid only to let him leave back to his parent club. TFM was doing well until they found out they have bissaka who is equally good and their player and even then he played out of position as a RB, that's how CB learn the trade sometimes. Think he could go back to Villa and help them to get promoted but he would have to be guaranteed more playing time. It's good we have some former managers here and there and they could take the player on loan and help us a bit..

The ideal scenario for me would be: Loan out Lindelof, sell Jones, buy Maguire, that would leave you with Smalling, Maguire, Bailly as the three best CB in the team and Rojo and Axel would fight for the 4th centerback, with injuries cup games, I am pretty sure Axel could play at least the same number of games as Lindelof last year...

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
Is it just me, or has Axel gotten so big that he's looking very slow off the mark? Once he gets going he's still got plenty of pace, but he really seemed ponderous at times against San Jose. Maybe it's just him being rusty from the break (and from memory he missed a fair chunk of the second half of last season through injury).

I do expect him to go off on loan, so hopefully he gets plenty of games wherever he goes.

Got to do a lot better than that if he wants Mourinho to give him chances this season. Just watched his man get away from him.
