£53m-ish that's our Net Spend this window.... and no I'm not bringing this up the way some Liverpool supporters and Glaston do as that it's some kind of achievement. Fifty Three Fecking Million spent for the supposed richest club in the world!! What the actual feck?

Woodward and the board need to answer for this transfer window

I disagree that spend is the only measure of ambition. We're fine.

I just hope we do some selling before close of August.

Fred, Dalot, Sanchez 2.0, Lindelöf 2.0 and promoted youth should improve us a bit. City can't improve on 100 points.

Why sign players that don't improve us for the sake of it ? Why further bloat our wage bill with overpaid average players ?

Net spend trophy in the bag if we manage that. Klopp and the scousers will be crying into their shoplifted coco-pops come September the 1st if that happens

You'd have a point if we had the perfect team but we dont, there's countless players who would improve us in countless positions

Don't be ridiculous. Getting rid of deadwood is one way to finance acquisitions. Instead of diluting the squad, we make room for improvements further on.

Smalling, Jones, Rojo, Mata, Young, Darmian and eventually Valencia has to go. Ironically, 90 percent of them are defenders. I can see why Mou wanted a CB.

This window has emphasised our need for a DoF.

When we sell Rojo, our net spend will be 30 million. It'll be the lowest in recent history in a season where we need to strengthen to claw back 19 points. Disgraceful. Can only see huge problems ahead.

Should we pay any price that the selling club names ? 90 for Maguire ?
It's not a black and white question that. If the club has 3 or 4 names to fill one position then yes they should pay what it takes to get one of them

It's a shambolic window.

Really don't understand how can anyone defend it at this stage.

Only 5 teams have spent more than us.

It's been an outlier of a window.

Why does it? Unless you hire a manager/coach knowing full well he's not in it for the long haul he should be your DOF. Now obviously many will say Jose isn't and never was in it for the long haul and in that case yes a DOF should have been brought in and possibly will once Jose leaves but a DOF wouldn't have helped this shit show of a transfer window

For various reasons we havent bought as much as we should. Ed didn't want to give more money to Jose or is satisfied with getting top 4. What I dont get is how come we didn't get rid of more deadwood.

I'm disappointed we didn't get a player over the line. But I'm happy we aren't perpetuating the spending cycle and happy we are pushing back on mourinho extreme short termism for signings, if that is what is going on

The way people used to defend 'no value in the market'. I'm glad we haven't bought for the sake of it, but Toby for example could of made a huge difference.

So we should pay 90m for Maguire or 75m for alderwereld ... I don't agree personally
Not improving the side is like throwing the towel in before the fight has even started, serious what is the point in this upcoming season now?

The shocking thing is obvious weakness in LB RW. We should have closed these weaknesses. Shows lack of ambition

A DoF would have just paid 90m for Maguire like ed should have done

Quite frankly, I'm glad that we weren't taken for mugs by Spurs & Leicester.

We should've got a LB & RW though.

We got enough points to win most titles last year. We have I proved in two positions. Some of our players are a year older and better. We could get 85 pts this year. If city get 100 pts we won't beat them even if we spent 90m on Maguire

Woodward will get the flack because he's the face of the club but everyone should realise it's not him holding the purse strings, a DOF wouldn't have had the power to do anything differently

I agree with this. There are some obvious spots where would could improve tho for relatively little outlay example would be left back

Even if we discount right wing where we would probably have to shell out some major cash for a top class winger

2 positions? On the face of it we've replaced the hardly played retired Carrick with Fred who presumably will play and that it. The other signings of note being a 3rd choice keeper and a player for the under 23's who we hope may make a break through into the 1st team

By the looks of it agreeing fees has been the issue, not identifying targets. So unless a DoF can get teams to sell players for less, the. How exactly would one have helped? Fred, Dalot and keeper bloke are all very good signings, that will address issues over the coming season. We've obviously been after other players, but everyone we're targeting is suddenly 100 million bucks or near enough. Market is crazy and very unsustainable.

I see dalot playing an active role in first team squad. But agree it's possible he won't. Doesn't change the core of what I said

I'm already writing this season off as a non starter. I'm excited about seeing a progressive manager in charge next season and hopefully given £200m NET to spend to make up for this summer. Zidane, Poch, Allegri or maybe Jardim.

A £30m net spend this summer (should Rojo get his move) will surely confirm how much faith this club now has in jose and how they're not on the same page transfer wise.

DOF works really well for Arsenal this summer given our limited budget, and also by looking at Roma's model I think it is really good idea.

If we signed the following players we ''wanted'':

Willian - RW
Toby - CB
Sandro - LB

We would be much more improved.

Net spend is everything! If Chelsea have let's say net spend -200m in one summer I would feel ashamed in front of other fans. Spending 300m but also selling players for 200m is ok, but just spend without selling is not good.
For example Utd would have to sell Martial if thay wanted Bale, Pulisic, Willian... Otherwise is not a good image in public at least in my eyes...

Totally indefensible window, the announcing of new sponsorship deals has been a pr disaster and further proves how out of touch the board actually are.Busby would be rolling in his grave!

It's not for the sake of it.

We entered the window needing a right winger and 2 fullbacks. We got none. We didn't strengthen the team at all and only add one main player. Terrible window.
