He’s a cnut. What the feck he’s doing anywhere near punditry confuses me, it’s as if they choose candidates based on them knowing feck all and pissing off listeners....which is all he brings

Holgate made a slide tackle, Steve McManaman says Holgate done well to stay on his feet could have easily gone to ground. How stupid can someone be

So why can't he say that he doesn't like them ? Ok. He may have thought his mic was off but surely he can still say that without being judged . He was a boyhood Evertonian too.
Who has said he can't? It's still funny though.

Well aren't they supposed to be objective, at least outwardly?
We know in reality most aren't, but still.....

Why can't a person that's commentating on a match not state that he doesn't like one of the teams? He's basically invalidating himself on air. Nothing he says that match can be taken seriously.

You know that pundits favor certain clubs but being against a club is way worse.

They are all tits in my opinion.

Example.

As a kid I adored Phil Thompson especially him lifting the European Cup in Paris.

As an adult seeing him on Sky I fecking cringe.

Most people on telly are tits by the way .

He thought he was off air, it was a mistake, not the end of the world.

This is nothing  Off air, the man is supposed to be human you know and we've all got our biases.
Exactly he’s human. I’m genuinely surprised you never hear a commenter say something like “get the feck in” when emotions are high.

I have found him to be very fair on the air - probably hates us, but he doesn’t show it, unlike Hargreaves for example.

Yup. Emotions is part of the job. It never bothers me as long what is said isn't pure hatred and it doesn't make the one saying it look like a moron

He completely had the Celtic player. It was deep into injury time too and the goal made it 2 - 2 . The second leg was 1 - 1 and if I remember correctly they should have beaten us.

I think he's a good co-commentator.

On a general point in my opinion people make a mistake not differentiating commentating from studio punditry. It's just my opinion but I don't really like commentators who reel off stats and pseudo-analyse as the game is going on. Nor do I want them to state the obvious and reel of cliches. I really enjoyed Jon Champion and Ally McCoist's pairing for ITV at the World Cup because even though quite a lot of the teams he wouldn't have known so much about, they were enthusiastic about the games and offering decent insight when needed/could. Aside from that just letting the pictures and sound of the crowd hold for a few moments is very nice too. Give me that than a try-hard who wants to an impression of himself than the actual game.

He was a good player back in the day. Pretty sure Sir Alex identified him as Liverpool’s main danger man back in the 90s. I got a load of his stickers back in the day when I did the Panini Premier League sticker book things too one season. I do like his insight at times. He can be a little too jokey but then again that criticism goes to everyone at BT Sport.

Shame he was blessed with one of the most annoying accents in the world though liech la

I’m laughing at how good it is that he passes to himself. How often do you see that?
Phew. I thought you were implying it was a bad touch made great by a good reaction (Bergkamp vs Newcastle).

I had never seen that Mcmanaman goal. Wasn't really all that but the first touch was among the best I've seen. Destroyed the oppo player.

Here's some more of his goals and a boss story about him. When he was still at Liverpool and we all knew he was off to Madrid I bumped into him in Slaters on Slater Street in town. For those who don't know Slaters it was ( still is I guess ) tiny bar and it was a quid a pint and two quid a double. Anyway... I bumped into him there and he was with his Walton mates. I say to him. Hiya Stevie lad . Good luck in Spain and his response was ' nice one '. I dont think you get many players doing that these days .

More goals .

Seems United and Wolves have common ground regarding “pundits” opinions of them in general.

I don't know who Timbo is but he likes his Liverpool goals.

:D
Back in the late 90s - early 00s he was the man if you were looking for the goals- though he was only doing them for liverpool matches. I still remember the ones where Dudek was in goal making howlers when we played against them.
