Top drawer, but as is typical for us, one problem solves just as another presents itself, which is why we have been struggling to have a real top team. Shaw looks like he could save us a lot of money at LB, but we won’t move forward as a team because we fix that problem when we have a striker problem or a RW problem.

Best player on the pitch today for me.
I hope he can keep this up and stay injury free

I wish we had a decent right side as well so all the crossing wouldnt have to come from Luke

The texts from Mourinho over summer, the input of Carrick and McKenna, and his attitude in pre-season going into the season have done him the world of good. The injuries to Valencia and Dalot plus Young going to the World Cup helped him stake his place too.

Not sure he'll ever be truly great at aerial crosses but going forward and finding passes/ground crosses in great positions into and around the box he was excellent. Could have had an assist or two. In the past I wasn't convinced he'd keep his place, but now I think Mourinho is liking his attitude (singled it out for praise tonight) and will continue to start him.

Thought he did ok tonight - probably your best player. Looked quite dangerous at times.

Really happy with his performances and a much better option than Young. Hopefully Dalot can come in on the other side and banish Valencia forever.

This is the Luke Shaw we have been waiting for since the return from the injury. When he plays like this he is one of the first names on the teamsheet. Very very good tonight.

Thing is as good as he's been last couple of games he should be a lot better by now. Just never given a run of games.

He has that ability to dribble through defences, a bit like Marcelo but he's only showed it a few times for us. I guess the injury didn't help but the last two seasons have been a waste.

Great performance and seems to be building on each performance. Shame he's no-one in front on him to build a partnership/understanding with.

Not faultless, the buildup came when he was slow to press on many occasions but still best player on the pitch again.

Oh the irony of Shaw now being the only player showing any confidence.

He’s turned up at the party and everyone else has gone home.

The moment last season when he got benched while in decent form just because of feck all and Young returning, a 50 games next season Young.
Yep I've thought for a while he's had these performances in him even though he was riding the bench. Young was just preferred for tactical reasons but Shaw showed in January that he was more than decent when given a run with the first team

Looked more like the player we saw very briefly in LVG's second season before the leg break. He's got a lot of power and it was good to see him play with that aggression again. If he can stay injury free and keep it going we might not need a new left back (a big 'if' I know)

He's in his final year of contract. Might not even be at United next season. Would be unfortunate as he's looking a player.

Hopefully we do in Dalot. SO many people saying we need a new left back a Sandro etc etc etc. We have the best English left back and one plenty good enough for the premiership in Shaw if gets games and stays fit. He really does need to work on his positioning though.

Fatty was phenomenal today!
Funny how suddenly you don't hear anyone say he's fat anymore.

I thought he was brilliant tonight and even if he plays at 80% of that for the rest of the season he is still one of our best players and top 5 LB in the world.

Really good tonight. But he has to maintain this level - I don't think anyone's doubted his ability, just his application.

Showed how having a dynamic full-back makes such a big difference. If Dalot is anything close to being half decent, it would be a big upgrade over the next few years.

IF he plays like this for the rest of the season, yes. Would be a 5th place but still top 5.
He did ok tonight I grant you but he did nothing particularly special. Compared to the last few years it was great though and I hope he keeps fit.

He bypassed Trippier with no effort. Shame that our attackers couldn't finish or move towards his deliveries. MOTM for sure.

A real bright spark in an otherwise dysfunctional team. It's great to see Shaw coming through the barrage of crap that's been thrown his way in the last couple of years - if he can cement his place in the side ahead of Young that will be one positive to take from this awful start to the season.

My wit's end
If Dalot lives up to his reputed potential, he and Shaw would solve the fullback issue that half the Transfer Forum were saying was our biggest weakness this season.

I'm chuffed for the lad. Makes the failed Sandro wrangling all the sweeter.

Obviously the brightest spot in an otherwise awful start to the season. Delighted for him personally.

+1 on this. hope he keeps it up. thought he was super today never hid and tried to take us forward even at 3 down. he will make mistakes but his attitude is not questionable IMO. We need more characters like that in this team.

Back row. Singing.
Amazes me that people don't give Jose any credit for an uptick in Shaws performances.
Indeed. It's amazing but doesn't amaze me.

He was great going forward tonight but he worries me a bit defensively I have to say. Few times he got caught pressing when he shouldn't have been. With those centre halves though, any slight mistake will get shown up.

The problem with that interview is that he says the team will bounce back against Burnley but doesn't look like he believes it.
