The latest update on injuries

"Jones is injured, as you can imagine.

"Dalot and Romero will play tonight at Old Trafford in an Under-23s match, which is a first match for them after knee surgeries and they need that a little bit but it's good news for them because after that it's the international break and after that they'll be in a real condition to play.

"Marcos Rojo started training with the team a couple of days ago. He's not ready for this match tonight but he is training with the team."
Opposition chants are irrelevant

Asked about Tottenham supporters chanting ‘You’re not special anymore’, the manager said: “Yeah, but they didn't have that song when we beat them at Wembley a couple of months ago. A cup final that they had a big dream to go, a title they had a big dream to win because they don't win many, so on that night at Wembley the United fans were singing 'the Special One', and of course they [Tottenham] were not singing that.”
The players showed their passion

“The passion was not from me. It was from the team. I don't play. The team plays. The team played, the team showed everything, but we didn't score goals. We made a couple of mistakes, we were punished by these mistakes, but the players showed passion and I think the reaction of the fans was not for me. The reaction of the fans was for the players, it was for the team. OK, it was for us as a team, but the fans were behind the team since the first minute, because the team was playing magnificently and I think it was just a reaction to say, OK, we lost and defeat always means zero points, but the way the team plays, the way the team fought, I think the fans decided to have that kind of reaction.”
I was humbled by the fans

“In relation to me, I know the majority of the stadiums are used to the winning manager to jump around, go up to the crowd and put his face in front of the camera. With me that is not happening. Normally when I win, I'm the first one to leave, but a defeat at home, an important defeat at home, that's the way I am. I have to go to the pitch and see the reaction. The reaction could be both ways and it went a way where I felt really humbled and the team felt really supported. Probably because of that, this week was not a difficult week at all. It was a week where people are positive and people are convinced that we deserve much more than what we got in the last match. We know that we have a very difficult match on this weekend, but people are positive.”
Why I went to watch Burnley

“I went there and I knew that they would probably rest a lot of the players that are going to play on Sunday, which happens, so I was not surprised by that. I went with the intention to see which direction they go and if Sean [Dyche] is trying to change something in the direction of the team, or if he sticks with the same principles that made them successful in the last couple of seasons in the Premier League. Yes, I think they were very unlucky to go out. If they score, I don't even say an early goal, I don't even say a first-half goal, but even one of the big occasions they had in the beginning of the second half, then I think they would have won the tie.”
What it means to be the boss

Asked what it means to be the manager of Manchester United, the boss said: “I am the manager of one of the greatest clubs in the world, but I'm also one of the greatest managers in the world.”
We are very, very happy with Shaw

“It’s been a big week for him that ends with a very important match against Burnley. That's the most important thing. He played three very good matches and it's not easy when your team loses two of them. He had that balance, that consistency even when the team didn't win and especially the game against Brighton, where the team didn't play well. That is very important.

“If next week, his [England] manager decides to give him minutes against Spain or against Switzerland, that would obviously be very good for him and I think in this moment he's feeling the good results of the hard work, and the good results of many people that work with him at different levels and try to make him a proper football player. For me, a proper football player is a player of consistency and he's physically stronger, he's mentally stronger. Tactically, he has a better understanding of the game. We are very, very happy with him and I think to go to the national team after three Premier League matches, for him, is an extraordinary feeling.”
The truth is in the whole

Asked by one journalist if he will still be a great manager without winning a league title at United, the manager said:

"Did you read any philosophers? Or information, you never spend time reading for example, Hegel? OK, so, just as an example: Hegal says, the truth is in the whole. It's always in the whole that you find the truth.

"Do you ask that question to the manager that finished third in the Premier League last season? To the manager that finished fourth? To the manager that finished fifth?"
I analyse my performance myself

"I had great success last season. That's probably not what you want to admit and you do what you want, I do what I want, I analyse my performance myself and for me, it's more important what I think then what you think. Two seasons ago we had a fantastic season by winning the Europa League and last season everybody thought Atletico Madrid did amazing, because they won the Europa League after being knocked out of the Champions League. We won the Europa League, because that was our level, and we are the last team in England to win a European competition.

"I have won eight titles. I am the only manager in the world that has won in Italy, Spain and England, and by winning eight titles - not small titles, not small countries, eight proper titles - my second position last season is one of my greatest achievements in football."
----

Will he even turn up?

Come on Jose lad, get some positivity out of you here.

Just want some good news really. I know there isn't much he can say to rally us up. We played well vs Tottenham, but the team bottled that good first half showing and just threw the game away early in the second.

I'd like to hear that Dalot will make an appearance or something. Just something positive and exciting. Anything!

If I don't win the league I will still be one of the greatest. Finishing second last year was one of my greatest achievements....

Not sure I like those quotes

Is that a quote?

Seen the story on the beeb website. Why is everything about him? Seriously who enjoys our manager talking about himself so much?

Clearly it was easier to ignore when he was managing other teams in the past. Managing the club I support he’s such a fecking nob.

"I have no problem with Martial. If he wants to stay, is fine. If he goes it's fine. If he wants to spend time with family I will give him all the time, the season is 10 months, plenty of time."

not real

Why is he saying all that? Is there no way to avoid answering any leading questions and could we not just request that the press stick to this weekend's game?

I'm guessing he says all this shit to stop the papers putting the pressure on the players, it's all now on him... unless he is just a bit of a knob of course :D

I really don't know why he has to say this.

I actually thought his behaviour after the Spurs defeat was perfect. Put his arm around some of the players, applauded and praised the fans, went to war with the media. It looked to me like the perfect platform to create a siege mentality.

Now he's gone and alienated the squad again by essentially calling them shit. I should've given up long ago at trying to understand Jose. I'm not even sure it's calculated anymore on his end.
