Have you ever supported Liverpool in a game (Blackburn 95 and Chelsea 10 doesnt count).

1977 European Cup final. Saw that game in a pub in Whitefield and the who place cheered for Liverpool. People wanted to see an English team win the trophy and we'd just beaten them at Wembley so we were feeling magnanimous.

I wanted Liverpool to beat Norwich in the 2013/14 season just so we could spoil their pre-title winning party at Anfield the week after. He really did let it slip.

Any time it benefits United is okay with me. That's the only exception.

I remember enjoying seeing them beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge just after Torres had left them.

If you did, why?
1995, was only 6 or 7 so I didn't fully grasp what was happening.
2010, I knew they wouldn't turn up and roll over or pass Chelsea the ball but, I hoped they'd win. I wasn't cheering them on.

Think I did want them to win against Newcastle in 1996.

fecking great game that was.

For 8 seconds during the 2005 CL final I thought "This could be a hell of a comeback."

That's about the extent of it.

Weirdly when they came from 3 back against Milan. What a weird feeling. I guess i didn't appreciate the rivalry as much when i was young. I was rooting for Madrid so much this year however (as i also realise now that every champs league win sets us further apart).

Tbh I supported them once in the Champions League quarter finals against Madrid when Torres tore them a new one. Absolutely no idea why but I do hate Madrid

Thats interesting because I read somewhere that a section of Utd fans clapped Liverpool off the pitch at Wembley in 77. And I think Sammy McIlroy wished Liverpool good luck in the final against Borrusia M in a post match interview after the FA cup final. How times have changed eh - and that was during the "bad old days" of hooliganism.

I was 9 years old when watching that Wembley final on TV, it was my first season as a fan, and its the one match in history if I could rewind and change the result I would choose.

Switching the original question - I didn't mind Utd winning the 85 cup final

Absolutely not.
Anyone but Liverpool to the extent I would actively support City in a game between the two.

I rooted for United in both 99 & 08. Hell, I was a United fan for a few weeks in the 90s (in between supporting Aston Villa [family ties] & Liverpool [I saw them win 4-3 vs Newcastle & thought damn, this team must be good) - I was 7 or so at the time

If Liverpool had not stopped City, there was a chance City would have went all the way.

Sure. Anytime they played Arsenal in the late 90s/early 2000s, Chelsea in the mid-late 2000s or City in 11/12 & 12/13.

United winning the league is always the most important.

I also wanted them to beat City in the CL last season as I saw them as having a far smaller chance of winning the tournament than City.

Back in 1999 when they beat Feyenoord to win the Carlsberg Cup.

The league game against City last season when the dippers beat city.

I couldn’t stand the thought of city going the season unbeaten. They were already dominant enough, going unbeaten would have made it about twice as worse.

Not particularly.

They either beat someone who helps Utd which can happen for almost any team so it's particularly anything special.

Or they lose and you can still take pleasure.

No. If they had to play against a team of aliens in order to save humanity from destruction in some sort of Space Jam style scenario I still wouldn't support them.

To my eternal shame, I did in their 2005 CL Semi v Chelsea.

At the time I was young, and hated Chelsea and Jose and I thought Liverpool would get battered in the final. Their fans were never annoying to me until those insufferable bastards won and we didn't hear the end of it for at least a decade.

Definitely learned my lesson since then. I don't want those cnuts to win a raffle now, let alone a football match.

If I caught them cheering they'd be disowned and homeless.

Snake Plissken would be proud. Calling for penalties for the other team and everything. Which has now lead me down the rabbit hole of trying to figure out who would ref such a match.
