Taking the next corner instead of Jones!
Feigning, displeasure during the first half (while actually hiding a major stiffy), having to half-heartedly join in the come-back celebrations of the second half (while still secretly knowing they don't have a chance in burning hell of pulling this off), and dying a little inside while witnessing with incredulity extra time and finally accepting that, should it go to penalties it will now surely only go one way … is part of a 2005 story that I want to post on @Billy Blaggs Story thread when I have a spare mo … it topically involves a cat too so there's something for everyone :p

There’s a few weirdo Klopp fanboys on here these days that seem to cheer for them. Mental.

No.

A bit surprised nobody has said the '89 cup final yet. I couldn't find too much fault in that.

I didn't want Liverpool to win, but I was also 10 years old. I couldn't fully comprehend Hillsborough nor the United/Liverpool rivalry. If I was older perhaps a better understanding of the rivalry would have been overridden by sympathies over what happened at the semi. Impossible to say.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't like them at that age and knew we were rivals etc. but I was still a bit innocent/had less disdain for them. My reason for preferring Everton to win was mostly because I'd met and played football with a few Everton fans on holiday at Pontins for the previous two summers and become pen pals with a couple of them.

I support United, Þróttur and Iceland. Don't much support other teams although I'd like Icelandic teams to do well in Europe. It's rare that I support any other teams. In those moments their opposition is probably Liverpool.

What's mental is some fans here pretending that they prefer defensive football just because Mourhino is our manager.

Whatever Klopp's football is it isn't something to strive for. I would choose our defensive football over Klopp's suicide football. Id prefer to actually go on a cup run and have a good chance of winning it rather than flopping over and over.

Give me the choice between Man City's style and ours and I'd pick Man City's every time because they are just better at almost every aspect. They control possession better than any other team and counter attack better than any other team in the league.

Liverpool's football is nothing special, its just long balls to their fast attackers that are really good 1v1. They struggle to pick off a defensive set up, whereas Man City pick apart defensive set ups with ease.

Maybe a few times, if we have a chance at the league and City was playing pool I’d riot for pool.

But if it was close between pool and city it probabaly take City.

feck both of them tho
This is acceptable and laughable to see Liverpool help us win the title. Other than that, nope!

Support is a strong word but I imagine I wanted them to beat Chelsea when we were consistently competing with them for the top honours

I'm not talking about style. I'm purely talking about United fans cheering on Liverpool or fawning all over them. They make my piss boil and I just find it unfathomable that a United fan could ever cheer them on or wank all over Klopp and his style of play.

I actually don't watch them, ever, unless it's against a big side and they have a chance of losing. I literally skip over them on MOTD and have seen feck all of their goals over the past few years. I actually just detest them. Lol, see how much they rile me up

I think when a person started following Manchester United should also be taken into consideration before calling out people on their stance in this United-Liverpool rivalry.

I only started following United in 2007, I was only 12 at the time, I had no idea how big the Liverpool rivalry was until I discovered the CAF in 2013/2014.

I saw City as a major threat to our title ambitions and losing the title to them the way we did with goal difference and that last minute winner still haunts me.

What we did to Liverpool, City wants to do to us. Interms of success Liverpool is much closer to us than City is, City are a big risk not only to our success in the field but also outside the field.

I hated City more than any other club and I still do. Alot of people might have a problem with me saying I would rather Liverpool win the Champions league rather than City but that’s just how I feel.

For 8 seconds during the 2005 CL final I thought "This could be a hell of a comeback."

That's about the extent of it.
At half time I remember feeling sorry for them for being humiliated, never again!

Yes. For fantasy league points
Also this, I cheer and fist pump when my City or Liverpool players score. It feels so wrong, but yeah :houllier:

I always support Ajax and PSV in Europe too. Domestically I always hope they lose, but feck it, every Dutch European win is good in my book.

I'm either too rational to really hate other teams or just plastic I guess.

Wow. That match truly devastated me. I felt zero excitement at any stage whatsoever, bar when AC were on top, of course. Horrible night altogether.

Unless it is of direct advantage to us, never. I actively support the opposition and was pretty happy when Salah went off in the final and Karius made those two howlers.
Didn't we all?

No.never. not even if it benefited United
If United needed Liverpool to beat City to win the league i'd be happy to root for them. Now that would only happen if Pool need a win to secure top 4.

Yup, when was it? The time they needed to beat someone to hand us the league? Of course Gerrard stepped up with a misplaced back pass!
Lol, I should read the great title. That gives me my answer.

Other than that I’ve preferred them to win certain games. I hate city so was happy to see them beat them in the CL. I’ve got family who are Liverpool but decent fans and not the usual gobshites, so it’s a bit different.

2005 CL semi final against Chelsea. I didn't want either team to win but thought Chelsea could actually beat Milan in the final and Liverpool would get beat so I went for Liverpool.

Obviously everybody knows how that turned out and I've regretted it ever since.

Well, for a moment I thought Liverpool would lose 6-0.

Then the 2nd Half happened...
