Miss those days when the game was about passion, courage and loyalty. There is none these days, only money and greedy agents.

Don't do it to yourself. MUTV had a programme recently of the 1000 goals scored at OT in the premier league by us. I managed to catch from 06/07 to 08/09. God I miss those days.
I think we don't fully realize how lucky we were to witness that Man United team (from 06/07 to 08/09).

I definitely didn't at the time, I was 15-18 and thought we'd carry on like that for the rest of my life. I certainly appreciate it now though and worry I'm going to be one of them old men raving about how much better past united was to whatever we will become.

Accidental founder of Blaggstianity.
That 08 squad was ridiculous, every single player from that team could walk into our current squad and improve us immenselyy (except maybe Van Der Saar)
They were everything we should be. Fighter warriors.

We'll never be Barcelona or Madrid. But we can be the dog in the fight. That's all I want

Champions.. Never give up never surrender . Kill yourself to win.

Myself and Mrs Blaggs just say the same thing courage passion. Loyalty and get your boots on top win. Or if you don't then die trying.
Be careful when you mention those things. You might soon be called an uber masculine nazi, top red from the 90's.:)

Yea- but why not? I would say it’s possible
Well we have ‘been good’ before and never played like them. It’s part of what really irks me about this media obsession about our style of play since Fergie left. We were never the gold standard of good football under him. Arsenal were, for the most part.

That Robin Van Persie winner against City in 2012 was probably on of the last times we played with courage and passion. One of my favorite games as a fan of this club.

Yeah, we've never really played the tiki taka. We were the opposite in fact, fast and dynamic and by god it was exhilarating! Giggs and Kanchelskis was great but Rooney, Tevez, Ronaldo, oh boy. I so much prefer that style of football than the pass to death carousel.

Back when we had really good players.

The back five of VDS, Nev, Rio, Vidic and Evra. Unbreakable.

Now we have Young, Valencia, Smalling, Jones. Ugh.

What about when we came back to stop City winning on their patch, blue hair and all. Plenty of passion and courage in that.

Funny thing is, people said the exact same thing 20 to 30 years ago. The game keeps getting bigger and the players keep getting richer...
I started following our club from 2004ish. From that time, I feel this time is the nadir wrt the spirit for the game. Its all about diving, fouls and most importantly, money.

I don't remember if I ever celebrated anything more than that. The wounds from previous season were still raw.

Yeah, the passion was massive. It meant I always had complete trust in them to deliver. It seemed like they felt what we felt.

If only we could turn back time, God I will relish every single second of it.

Be careful or this forum may devolve into RAWK Liverpool supporters have had years remembering when they were good.
We're gonna start living far too much in the past unless the future brightens soon

Guys we did finish second last year. I know we are far from where we were with SAF and there's a lot that needs to be fixed to get us to be elite again, but a bit of perspective please. Some posters here sound like if we were languishing in the bottom third of the Championship.

We were often 2 goals behind, but you just knew we would come back. Oh for those days again.

Except for all those times we didn’t come back.

I’m all for a bit of nostalgia but there’s a danger in romanticising the past so much that nothing any current or future manager achieves will be able to match the myths we’ve built up around a fictional past where our team never lost or had a bad day at the office.

Even the very best teams Fergie created were capable of producing shitty performances (usually against Liverpool, annoyingly enough)

Because that's never been our style.
But to say it never will be our style is wrong. Clubs change all the time, style of play changes all the time and even more so within the modern game.

I'm not saying it's going to happen tomorrow, but there is nothing stopping it from happening 5, 10 or 15 years from now.

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"

Honestly don't think "any current or future manager" WILL match what we (SAF) did. Or get anywhere close.

Nothing wrong with a bit of reminiscing.
