Probably something with the whole not playing against Chelsea thing.

Either that or he's our new assistant manager. In which case I'd have very conflicting views on united personally.

Remember when John Terry racially abused a fellow professional and lost his captaincy over it? Oh what fun we had in those days.

He'll leave English football as a player.

A rival I despised, but some of my favourite memories as a football fan were from his era and beating his teams. Football doesn't quite feel the same when people like Terry leave and players like Christensen come. I want proper rivals who I can hate.

Villa can't afford him - their parachute payments get cut before next season.

Villa didn't get promoted and I'm pretty sure Chelsea weren't relegated so it isn't that

They're screwed financially. Terry will either go to the US for one last payday or a lower PL side with an agreement that he can't play against Chelsea.

I think him not playing against Chelsea was a joke, I don’t think Bruce was being totally serious when he said it.

We can't afford him anymore is the basic answer.

Rumoured he was on 60k a week for us.

USA or China.. .
Could probably earn more in China but he might have to eat foreign food, show a bit of respect and heaven forbid learn a bit of the foreign lingo...
Suspect he will sign for la galaxy so he can spend his time living in a bellagio villa sampling the cultural delights of Vegas at least once a week

Looks like it really was promotion or bust for Villa. I'd heard last season was their last with full parachute payments so they'd have to tighten their belts but that is worrying news from a financial point of view.

As for Terry I'm sure he was made aware of the perilous situation at Villa so was never going to stay another year in the Championship with them.

They did spend something like 80m a couple of seasons ago iirc. Thought at the time that it surely won’t be sustainable in the Championship.

Fantastic move. I’m not sure why but I have a really warm feeling about John Terry and Moscow.

Will be interesting to see how he does in the Europa League. Not sure how Spartak play, but if they defend to his strengths he probably still has some life left in him.
