Our first league match of the season.

Tickets on the gate or in advance from: https://tickets.avfc.co.uk/en-GB/events/aston villa ladies v manchester united ladies/2018-9-9_15.00/boldmere st michaels?back=2&area=140d33b2-5b98-e711-80ce-d318130781f8&type=ga

Villa Ladies have been officially part of the Aston Villa setup since 1996 but have actually been around since 73 (when they were Solihull Ladies). It's worth remembering that it was only in 71 that the FA lifted its ban on girls/women using the grounds of FA affiliated clubs, so Solihull would have been one of the earliest women's clubs of the modern era. They've been in the WSL2/Championship since it was formed in 2014.

Villa Ladies came 9th (of ten teams) last year in WSL2.

Wow, it’s getting closer now.

Who will be the one’s to watch in that Villa team, I wonder.

What I’ve found is that they won the league cup once, in 2012/13 I believe, and that their Dutch midfielder Nadine Hanssen has previously played for PSV, Anderlecht and Genk and is not a stranger to scoring and assisting.

It’s a fairly young team with several youth caps, and defender Elisha N’Dow and forward Ashlee Brown both have played for England U20.

Doesn’t seem to be showing on TV. Not on MUTV and BT are showing Chelsea W vs Man City W. Checked MUTV all the way through to Wednesday and there doesn’t seem to be any highlight show of it anywhere. Anyone see anything different?

It doesn't look like Villa broadcast the women's games on their TV channel nor their YouTube - they don't seem to have much from their home youth team either, so I'm guessing they don't have the budget for it. Whether United will have any YouTube grade highlights I guess we'll have to wait and see.

You would hope so, they really have to have something. It would seem like a really weird step to promote the woman’s team so much then first game of the season no coverage. Hope there is something.

So I should just be able to open the YouTube app on my shield, search Aston villa and I should be able to watch the game on my big tv?

I've just taken a look at the Aston Villa FC channel and the link is up ready for tomorrow. I guess you can do a quick check with one of the existing videos to see how it appears.
I'm at work at mo but I will test it pre match tomorrow and leave the link here.

Seems quite apt that Villa ladies were one of the very first, when the men’s team were one of the founders of the football league in England.
