Pick one player

I'm bored out of my mind at work today, so suddenly found myself thinking about this. Come January, the clubs will be open for business once again. If you could pick any player for your club, regardless of cost and availability, who'd it be?

Two things to consider are compatibility with whatever manager who's in charge at your club, age, and perhaps if you could see yourself cheering on him. I for one would find it hard to stomach having to celebrate Neymar.

Speaking as a Liverpool fan, I'm torn between madridistas Varane and Kroos. Not because either of them are the best in the world, but because Liverpool are in more need of a defender and a midfielder than a Messi. And while I like Modric even better than Kroos, he's just too old.

I'd probably go for Varane as he's what we need and has the right age.

Messi aside, it would be Mbappe. Perhaps it's a bit of a waste to play him on the right like PSG since it's not his best position, but still, the thought of going from Mata/Lingard to Mbappe... Plus he brings the best out of Pogba's passing.

Mbappe

Kane maybe though our problems are further back the pitch I feel.
Eriksen
Varane

Players that are good but for a variety reasons wouldn’t want here or would find hard to support- hazard, neymar, Ramos

Isco. We need that creative technical midfielder that doesn't lose the ball. Massive upgrade on the likes of Lingard and Mata.

I'm trying to figure out why you think you need a midfielder. In my mind, that's the position you definitely don't need. A central defender makes sense though. For me, I would like someone like M'Bappe but I feel it wouldn't make any difference as long as we continue to play so slow...

So as to not turn this thread into an Mbappé echo of no realism at all, however, I’d say either Skriniar or Rodrigo.

James Rodriguez. Think with the playmaker role he was playing for Jupp he'd be perfect for us to complete our team.

Not Jumping on the Gomez bandwagon yet? I'm firmly aboard.

He’s looked good in recent weeks, no doubt. But I’ve been optimistic about players in the past, only to see the aspiring star turn out to nothing:lol:

Who’d you go for if given the choice?

Probably Salah.

I like him as a player, and he plays in a position we desperately need.

Of course I'd go for Mbappe too, but my second choice might be quite an unpopular choice: Sergio Ramos.

Sergio Ramos easily. We need a commanding world class centreback and a leader. Ramos would be perfect.

I think we're one Mbappe short of turning the 3-peat into a 4-peat, if not, the league should be a sure bet, I think.

Mbappe or Varane. Both fills an area of need and are probably the most talented players in their position.

We aren't playing slow this season, sorry if I'm overboard but we are pressing which I never thought we will under Moyes or LvG or Mou.

Our on the field problems are deeper than just 1 player so I couldn't pick just one for us :(

Why would he be unpopular? I’m pretty sure that every United fan will be ecstatic to get him
